My friend and I went to the diner last night. We noticed it was very empty and there were 4 waitresses at the counter. they seated us, but never waited on us. We sat there about 15 minutes and then left to go somewhere else We will never go back.

Everyone here is RACIST. Maybe I’ll dye my hair blonde and put blue eye contacts on and get served better.

This is my go to place for diner breakfast. Sunday’s mornings are very good. Just get there before the church crowd, lol. I would suggest the country fried steak. The gravy is excellent. I typically get an upgraded omelette of six eggs, and this time it was just as good as always. We sat and drank coffee after our meal and waitress was very nice and attentive. I do not remember her name, but if you are looking for a simple place for weekend breakfast, I would suggest this diner.

I ALWAYS get their French toast I love IT! So good! And I’ve never really had a bad experience with the waitresses/waiters there. One of my favorite diners!!!

Went there for a company Christmas party on a Sunday night. we were seated in the back with a number of tables put together. The waitress came over took our drink orders while we waited for some of the others to arrive. After a while she took our orders from the four choices that we given to us. two of the women had baked potato as there side well both sent it back they were old and brown looking on the inside. I got the lasagna it was ok could have been hotter but not badsoup and salad bar came with the meals I had the broccoli along with some of the others well it was more like broccoli mixed with a can of cream of chicken that was very thick and pasty. All of us were able to have a dessert so I had cheesecake with blueberry topping which I took home along with the lasagna and some mashed potatoes that came with the meal. so my fiancé could eat some. he thought it wasn’t great but he was hungry so just ate it. the cheesecake was really good I recommend eating the desserts there if anything else. there food as gone down hill, had onion soup in the past it tasted burned. they need to get better cooks. the experience wasn. t bad but not great.

We stopped by City View for brunch earlier today. We had a large group, seven and a baby. The place was full but we were quickly seated in the very back of the restaurant. Food all over the floor under and around our table. No napkins or silverware were on our table, so we asked the waitress to bring us some. She came back and said«I think this is enough» and just threw them down and walked away. Counting to seven is apparently not that easy, as we were missing two knives. We ordered drinks. Again, having trouble counting maybe, one of the drinks for our table was missing. We ordered food. Food comes out but an Italian wrap was missing. The waitress said it would be right out. She comes back five minutes later with the syrup we asked for, no wrap. We asked why the wrap wasn’t made yet and were told that it was made on a different part of the grill and took longer. Uhm, the wrap was a cold item, requiring no grilling or cooking. Wouldn’t it be the first meal done? 15 minutes later we are all just about done eating and the wrap comes out. At that point we asked to speak to a manager. A woman came over to our table and stood there. No name tag, no intro. We asked if she was the manager. Her response is that she thought we knew. Ok… We told her about the poor service and the issue with the wrap. She offered dessert. We weren’t interested in dessert. Would she comp the wrap? No, they can’t do that. Doesn’t seem like they are interested in retaining our business.

I was in the area photographing a paintball game for my boyfriend and his teammates, and he and I stopped at the New City View Diner for a hearty Monday morning breakfast on our way out of town. This place was a favorite of his growing up, so I was anxious to try it. We walked in and were greeted by a glass case full of delicious-looking desserts and vintage diner aesthetic with mirrors along with walls and plenty of Halloween-themed decorations. I liked it at once. Our waitress attended to us with friendly and quick service throughout our time there. She brought drinks immediately followed by our food within ten minutes of us placing our order. I went with some hash browns and bacon along with orange juice and coffee. My boyfriend had a their breakfast feast, which included pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, coffee, and a smaller portion of orange juice. Everything was delicious, and the plates, cups, and silverware were all nice and clean as well. My biggest problem with Ritter’s(the only real diner of this sort in Pittsburgh) is that everything is so filthy. I never receive food without hair in it or drink out of a clean glass, which is why I rarely go there. Thankfully this wasn’t an issue at City View Diner. The prices were also quite cheap(a big breakfast for under $ 10) so the quality was especially appreciated in light of the very low price. I will gladly pay them a visit again next time I’m in the region.

Halloween night not good at the CityView, our waitress forgot to bring the soups, they were an afterthought when our main courses arrived, we had to remind her, she offered to cup them as «to go «items, my baked potato was a rotted one that got baked anyhow, dark brown inside and bitter instead of white like my hubby’s, no offer of any breads/rolls, and solid tomatoes from the salad bar were spoiled on the inside when opened, dinner tab for 2 over $ 30 had a value less than $ 15 to me, will be quite some time if ever before I go there again, only the fish and meat pieces were good food!!, truly disappointing and terrible,

We have gone to this location for years because the food has been affordable for our growing family. Food has for the most part been consistent. Recently however when we went my husband got sick from a meal that tasted funny. He just didn’t want to complain so get ate it anyway. The manager tried telling me that it was impossible it was from what he ate there and that the only way to verify this was with a stool sample sent to a lab. That was rude and ridiculous enough for me to never want to eat there again and I would suggest not risking it either.

The food is not awful but not great, just ok. Service was pretty good till we went to check out. The lady working the cash register was clearly overwhelmed and extremely rude. A good reason to eat anywhere but here.

The food is good. The service can sometimes be terrible. After seating my friend and i, it took them 30 minutes to acknowledge our existence(as in ask what we’d like to drink or if we were ready to order). There were only two other tables to take care of and three waitresses on duty. I’ve been there plenty of times and most of the time the service is good. Sometimes it can fall way short of adequate, even for a casual diner. Good omelets and quesadillas though.

City View has the old-school, cute feel that you would expect from a diner! The food isn’t gourmet or anything but everything on the menu looks delicious and is pretty cheap and well worth it. I ordered the Philly Breakfast Burrito with potatoes and left super full and satisfied. Definitely check out this place for brunch if you’re in the area.

Okay. I know it was very late but we was extremely hungry after seeing Nickelback at the nearby PPL Center. The food description on the menu and the food that was placed on our table was missing one very important ingredient. Meat! All I can say: Where was the beef! Nachos with beef was just Nachos with can cheese sauce and jalapenos.

I typically love diner food, but this place is horrible(it used to be great, food and staff) but now I have officially crossed it off my list and will never eat there again. The last 2 times I was here there has been hair in the food, the wait staff was very slow. Sorry City View, you were so much better a few years ago.

Ordered breakfast as follows: eggs over medium and French toast –was served eggs with raw yolks and French toast with no cinnamon — waitress never came back to ask how things were — HORRIBLEPLACE. I should have just gone to mcdonalds up the road at least there you get what you order an thy don’t try to poison you with raw eggs Wish I could give it 0 stars but Unilocal doesn’t allow that

Don’t go after 10pm, the severs will be drunker than you. Lots of potential but embarrassingly bad service late. Decent salad bar(like to end on a positive!).

They have an extensive list of sautee specials for dinner. My friend ordered one from the menu and said it was just as great as something from a fancy restaurant but cheaper. Can’t complain about that, that’s for sure! I got a standard burger, and it was juicy and cooked to perfection. Great slice of tomato on it, and the lettuce was fresh. Don’t even get me started on those sweet potato fries — they’re my new obsession! Prices were really reasonable as well. You’re not going to find something this economical everywhere. P. S. Looks like they have a bar in the back. Mimosas, anyone?

Yuck. Don’t bother. Went here for lunch and got the salmon croquette with chicken macaroni soup and the salad bar. The salad bar was not really fresh, and the broccoli had some kind of mildew on it, the croquette was dry and hard and they served tartar and cocktail sauce with it that came in sauce packets, as if cocktail sauce is difficult to make. The noodles in the soup were overcooked that they nearly disintegrated. So nasty. I was just in the hospital and I was served better food there. Our waitress was very nice, but you can find nice wait staff in places with edible food.

Well… Let’s just say that we made a mistake with this one. This was my first visit to the«New» City View Diner, and I have to say, I was very unimpressed. We were seated(after standing around looking lost at the door for five minutes) by a man who really seemed like he could not care any less about his job performance this day. Then, after about 15 more minutes, we were finally asked if we would like anything to drink… Five minutes later, we got those drinks… Ten minutes later we were finally prompted to order. When the food finally arrived, the disappointment only mounted. I had the ham and cheese panini(apparently crafted of the fattiest of hams and the finest of bagged shredded cheeses) and couldn’t even stomach half… This is not what I know good diner food to be. If you expect a friendly atmosphere, quick service, and food you can stomach… Look elsewhere.
