Annie’s Clean Critters

Annie, the owner of Annie’s clean critters, recently became the Whitman temporary animal control officer. I have dealt with Annie in the past when my ex boyfriends dog who was visiting got loose, she took him and wouldn’t give him back until he got another rabies vaccine because we had no proof as he was visiting from out of state and his vet was closed for a few days. When I dealt with her, she was extremely rude, hung up on me multiple times and swore at me on multiple occasions, which was extremely unprofessional. When I picked max up from Annie’s clean critters after she had brought him to get his rabies shot at Whitman VCA, he was dehydrated and sick due to her feeding him the wrong food even though I dropped his food off to her and made it clear he is diabetic and must eat live free. I let the situation be what it was because we didn’t live in Whitman and it was a one time run in with her. Well, yesterday I moved back to Whitman with my two sons and our two dogs, one of which is a pitbull and my dogs licensed service dog. My son is three years old and severely disabled, our dog, Diva, needs to be in a reasonable distance from him at all times to detect seizures ect. This morning, Diva was outside and got lose while I was at school, Annie had gotten the call and found her before my family or friends did. I had known diva was not registered in the town because we just moved here yesterday, and I didn’t have proof of her rabies due to a house fire in May that caused us to lose everything. I know I should have gotten another copy, but It slipped my mind and I knew she was up to date. I understand this is her job and she had to make sure dogs are vaccinate. What really blows my mind is the way this lady treated me and my dog. When I called her, she told me she’s tired of dealing with me (we had one incident before) and I don’t deserve to have children if I can’t even keep my dog vaccinated… Excuse me?! She continued by telling me my dog attacked multiple people and she is working on getting the proper authorizations to euthanize her. I continued to stress that my dog has never bitten anyone or even thought about it and she’s my sons service dog and he needs to be with her, I begged and pleaded for her to drop him off at my house and I had an appt at the vet until 515. Annie replied telling me my dog isn’t leaving the smallest crate she has unless she’s going in the ground. My mom followed up with Annie and she continued to yell at my mom, tell her the dog attacked people and she’s dangerous and hung up. 515 came around and Annie met me with diva at the Whitman VCA. I watched Annie yank and tug on my dog who was doing nothing wrong. She came inside and I confronted her, she replied with «you’re a lying bitch, I will take this dog and put her back in the crate for the weekend if you want». I took my dog and turned the other way, ignoring whatever Annie had to say, when she called me an asshole in front of the Whitman VCA desk staff and another client! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. She continued to try to question me about my brothers dog, which I still ignored her, and she tried to threaten taking my dog again. Diva was crying and shaking non stop, anxious and not herself (she’s a service dog and goes to lots of different places, it doesn’t faze her), when I mentioned this, Annie quickly stated she didn’t hit her if that’s why I’m implying… But that wasn’t what I was implying until she mentioned it. I took the time to ask Annie a few questions, such as where she picked my dog up? She said she was right on my parents street and she got her minutes after receiving the call, but earlier told me and my mom she was running through the school attacking children and chasing people through the center of town, which is 2 miles away. After getting the rabies, I left with diva only to receive a call from Annie stating she is getting all the papers in order to come take my dogs and have them euthanized. This lady is a monster. My sons well behaved service dog is an anxious mess, dehydrated and scared of life. I have never seen my dog so scared in the 3 years I’ve owned her. I am not the only person who has had issues. Annie kept another womens dogs from her for 4 days, when they were returned they were so sick they passed out and had to be rushed to the animal hospital where they underwent treatment.

Thanks Annie. You helped us find our Westie as a pup, and he still feels like he is at home whenever he sees you for grooming. And he always looks great after his Westie cut… for a while. Until next time.

I brought my cat in today for grooming which I was informed would include nails trimmed and ears cleaned. I also opted for a lions cut since my cat is quite hairy. First off when I walked in I wasn’t greeted. Since it’s not immediately obvious where the counter was, I was momentarily struck dumb and just kind of stood there. A few seconds later another customer walked in and was greeted immediately. I followed them around to the counter, I finally found it! I stood, holding my 17 pound cat, and waited my turn. The process of handing over my cat was easy enough, yet lacked sense of compassion. They just took him, brought him out back then came back and said you’re all set. Umm… ok…when do I get my cat back! Blah blah blah we will call when he’s ready in about 5 – 6 hours.
I received my phone call and went to retrieve my little (less) furry friend. Now it’s time to pay…$ 82 they say… choke! But oh well.
Now comes the good stuff, I get home and do my inspection. Lions cut… check, a little un even and there are some random long areas, but ok. Nails cut… FAIL!!! Most of his nails are untouched and two of them that were cut are completely caked in dried blood, to the point where the hair on his paws has dried blood.
As if this isn’t enough his ears, which I expected to be squeaky clean, are anything but.
I’ve put in a complaint and am waiting for a response… I’ll keep you posted. I’ve added a photo of his poor bloody paw.

Since you have chosen this inappropriate forum to discus your cat I will oblige. First lets speak about the fact that you don’t own a crate for your cat and had to bring him on a leash, I’m sorry that you didn’t see the large sign hanging from the ceiling to check in or you didn’t see the entire counter that is in the middle of our shop to check in and apparently you missed the front of that sign that states that all charges are an estimate and are for animals that are in a maintained condition, which your cat was NOT, of average size and disposition which your cat also IS NOT, Prices are at the groomers discretion. Your cat was very matted and was not used to being groomed, I did the best that I could which was to bath your cat, which was done, clip your cat which was also done to the best of our ability since the size and condition of your cat made things uncomfortable for him to be groomed. As to his ears, not only were they cleaned the one on the right had excessive debris which my daughter told you at check out. The cleaner that we use continues to break down the wax will continue to break it down and cause the cat to shake and the debris to come out. As for his nails, this cat was obviously not used to being groomed and reacted as such with his bath. He broke his nail in the tub as my daughter also told you at check out. We did trim his front nails which we excessively long and I do not trim the nails on cats that I am not sure that they are out side and with the amount of debris in your cats coat I assumed he went out. I should have have checked. I’m sorry that you were upset at the price and that your cat stressed during his bath. Cats are not easy and require a lot of time and attention during a professional grooming. Cats also need to be maintained by their owners. You have no problem criticizing me about his groom but you put no responsibility on your self for his very matted and filthy condition. I am a groomer not a miracle worker. I can not make you brush your cat it is not my fault for your negligence as an owner but u criticize when perfection is not achieved. My suggestion is that you groom your cat more often and buy a crate

I love it! I took Oreo after another groomer told me to get him something cuz he was too much of a work to have him groomed, took him here and he loves it. it was no problem here.

We get our Havanese, Diego, groomed here. They always do a great job. Everyone is always super friendly. The shop is really cute inside. The parrots in the window have scared me on more than 1 occasion. Their prices are competitive.
We drop Diego off at Annie’s at 9am and they keep him all day. We usually get a call around 5 to pick him up. He always comes back smelling great and his coat is super soft.

My dog absolutely loves Annie’s. She is super high energy and can be absolutely crazy sometimes but that staff at Annie’s really seems to adore her and does a great job handling her frenetic temperament. I’ve gone to Annie’s for boarding several times. Normally I get really worried leaving my dog anywhere while I’m on vacation. When I take my dog to Annie’s I know she’s getting great care. Everyone on staff does a great job of letting me know how her stay went when I pick her up. I’m actually seriously bummed that I moved 45 minutes away and have to find a new boarding option. Even with the distance I’ve taken her back there for boarding a couple of times because my dog just loves it there so much. Annie, Peter and everyone else on staff really love dogs and they will treat your dog well.

They are wonderful with our dog. You’d think after years of going there, their enthusiasm would subside, but they are always happy to see Lucky-​dog and their customer service is top notch!

We have been bringing our boys (Bichon Frise mix and a Golden) to Annie’s for years. She and Pete are just the best. All the staff really cares about our boys and they go out of their way to accomodate our busy schedule. I can’t say enough about them, I highly recommend using their grooming services. They also carry some great pet food which you can pick up when getting your pet groomed. Oh, they also board pets too. We never boarded our dogs until we met Annie. I can leave them and go on vacation and know they are being taken care of. She treats them like her own!
