Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. You can order a pizza with literally any topping imaginable. I recommend a double dough with grilled chicken and thousand island dressing.

I’ve ordered pizza here almost every week for the last 10 years and have NEVER had a problem with anything here. That equates to eating their food approximately 520 times. I don’t understand how anyone else has had a problem with the service or food here. If you have had a problem with them the problem was probably you.

Listen, this place is a classic South Shore pizza dive. Great pizza, old out dated dump that hasnt been updated since the 70s. You know what you are getting into as soon as you walk in the door. Drink bottled beer and order the pizza, dont use the forks and knives and you’ll be ok. The bathroom looks like something you would see in highway gas station. Most people do take out here and I can see why. Its not the décor, its the passive aggressive wretch of a bartender thats always there. Walked in there on a Sunday(football season going on) one person sitting at the bar. Got an attitude ordering beers while we waited for our take out order, ask her to check on our take out got an attitude. The waitress watching all this smirked and rolled her eyes like«you dont have to tell me». That place should be packed on a Sunday during football season. Not with this blister running the show. I’m wondering if shes the owners wife or something, that would explain it. But if they would like to increase inhouse business they should get rid of her ASAP. I would give 4 starts if she was gone.

These guys somehow found a way to get my previous review removed… But I am one persistant SOB! So in a nutshell this place is a dump, décor out dated, food inconsistent, staff just dirty looking and John is one of the biggest Dickheads in the business. There it is guys,… THETRUTH. Go ahead take this one down and I’ll put another one up, lol. I just worked up an appetite, think I’ll go get a real pie @ CAPECODCAFE.

So I really like the pizza. A lot– that is the only reason I am giving 3 stars. Unfortunately this place loses stars for two things. One, it’s not really clean. Two– if you ever order a salad it is NEVER and I mean never fresh. We like the pizza salad combo and this place cannot do it. They serve, gross, soggy, brown lettuce. How can you not look at food before you serve it to customers. It’s completely unacceptable. Last time I ordered a salad there was a large dead bug in it. GROSS. We order pizza with veggies on them quite often and it scares me those veggies are not fresh either. Go for the pizza ONLY– if you can put the cleanliness factor out of your head.

Best bar pizza around! Whenever I’m in the area, have to stop in. The founder, Peter, was a friend of mine, and I spent a lot of time in there years ago. Last time I was there, nothing much had changed, and the pizza was the same — great ! I wish we had a place like this in Fl.

Whitman neighborhood bar. Pizzas are very good. The Desert Pizzas are very unique and delicious. Try the French Toast, its unreal. Friendly staff, quick with the refills.

I went to Venus since I was a child. What happened? The place looks lost in the 70’s, so in an attempt to make it look newer, they redid the booths, which somehow gave them the justification to up the prices ridiculously. I shouldn’t even bring up the service. Nothing like feeling unwanted, old lady waitress sighed every time you asked for more napkins or another drink. This is a place of my past that will remain in the past. Never again.

Just ate here for the first time and needless to say I will be back. Who doesn’t love a family business? The owner came out and introduced himself! The bartender is super friendly and all the servers are nice! The pizza is delicious and I love that they have desert pizza. Come here for a delicious personal pizza and a place that welcomes you in.

TAKEOUT: I normally like Venus but this is twice now they have been less than stellar. My no frills pepperoni pizza was more grease than food. The pizza was slimy and not very edible with burned edges. The whole pizza looked unappetizing. Really sorry to write this review but I’m tired of chocking it up to «off nights».

The pizza is good and cheap. That’s why you are there. They lose stars with me because the décor is extremely dated and the staff is extremely rude. This restaurant is very successful in Whitman and the staff is all family. They have this holier than thou attitude that has consistently soured my experience every time. The pizza is good, but not so incredibly good that they can walk around and talk down to the customers. I brought some family here from out of town and warned them about the service. I spent the next two days apologizing for how rude our waitress was. It stood out in their trip to Massachusetts for all the wrong reasons. Pizza is easy to get good in Massachusetts so I for one won’t be suffering through the service to get their good not great pizza.

I’m not typically a fan of bar style pizza, but, out of all the various bar pizzas I’ve tried, Venus is by far the best. And that young Greek boy who usually works the bar can take a hecklin’ like no other!

I really do want to like this place. It’s accessible and local, and for the price, the pizza is decent. But in the last 3 times I’ve been there, the service has always been lacking. Whether it is a server that is just not in the zone or doesn’t care, to the server that is being yelled at from some clown in the kitchen to make more«f — ing pizza dough» through the doors into the dining room(yeah, that happened while I was there yesterday with my wife and toddler), the service has always been terrible. Granted, in the latter scenario, the server was obviously being run ragged by a «supervisor» and forced to neglect my table, so I’m not faulting him for it. Also, yesterday was my first time NOT having beer there since it was in the early afternoon. I was surprised to see that I was charged for my soda refills. Kind of petty, but when you aren’t offered a menu and just asked«do you know what you want?»(as if they are on the map for one thing and one thing only), where am I supposed to see the notification that refills aren’t complementary. All in all, I think yesterday was my last time I’ll consider going there. There’s a burger joint right down the street that has an enthusiastic, involved and passionate owner that makes pizza as well. He’ll get my business instead next time.

Great pizza and cheap. But the service is always way too slow. The owner really understaffs that place.

I remember when a dude I met from the interweb told me about this place. He raved about something called bar pizza and recommended it wholeheartedly. I thought I would never be able to try this place since my primary mode of transportation is the T. Luckily, the dude had a car, so we came here for dinner one time. There were so many different toppings! The dude I was with said, «I know this may sound crazy, but the mozzarella cheese stick pizza is actually pretty good.» So I ordered that because I didn’t think I’d ever have an opportunity to try something like that again(at least, not at a restaurant). He ordered the veggie pizza because he’s a vegetarian. As we waited for our food, I excused myself to go to the restroom. Unfortunately, I’m not used to bathroom light switches being on the outside of the actual restrooms(I’m a lame west coaster who’s spoiled with light switches being located inside restrooms). So I walked into the restroom and fumbled around and felt up the restroom walls in the dark. I even used my cell phone light to help me find the light switch. I didn’t want to use the toilet in the dark, so I walked outside of the restroom. The dude I was with actually saw my futile restroom trip… and proceeded to point at something on the wall behind me. I turned around and finally saw the light switch. So, just a head’s up: if you use the restroom here, the light switch is outside of the restroom! Okay, that was an unnecessary story. Anywho, when our food came out, I was surprised but also delighted to see how small the pizzas were. They were like a personal size pizza meant for one hungry person or two somewhat hungry people. My pizza was delicious! The mozzarella cheese sticks were a bit on the darker brown side(perhaps a bit burnt? but I like kind of burnt food, so that was okay), but they added a nice crunchy texture to my pizza. It was also quite salty, but not too salty. There are TV screens(or at least one) in the restaurant, so the guy was watching it while we ate our pizzas(I never understood how people could talk and eat at the same time… so that was convenient). We didn’t end up finishing our pizzas, so we got them to-go. I think the price of the two pizzas, a soda, and water was all less than $ 10. So it was an excellent price for some yummy eats. I wish I could come back here…

Venus café serves delicious pizza. My mother and grandfather coached baseball for years, and one of my favorite childhood memories is when they would take us to Venus after a winning game. A beautiful summer evening full of baseball and pizza, whats not to love?! Not much has changed because I still love baseball and pizza, I’m just not sure which one I love more :-b! The inside is dated, but that’s part of the experience. The pizza never disappoints, and the service is always excellent. Ahhhh, what I wouldn’t do for a slice right now!!! (the majority of my review is based off of childhood experiences, 14 years ago and before. I have eaten here a couple of time since, and the pizza would deserve three stars)

Great South Shore Bar pizza! We stop in here every once and a while and usually end up spending a few hours at the bar, eating pizza and drinking beers while watching some horribly awesome ‘90s movie like«Dumb and Dumber». This place is a hole in the wall to the T. Outside isn’t much to write home about and the inside is just the same, one side is solely dedicated to just take out and the other side is split up between the bar and the dining area. The inside is straight out of the ‘80s, wood paneling, formica tables and bench seats. There’s a few TV’s around the room and as I said before, there’s always something ‘classic’ on. I picture lots of the customers that come in are hardworking, blue collar dad’s looking to sneak away from the family for a couple hours. Back to that amazing pizza… anything that you could ever imagine putting on a pizza is available as well as other stuff like mozzarella stick, french fry, or pickle pizza. I’ve had plenty of bar pizza in my lifetime and Venus is definitely in the top 3. The bartenders are always quick to get you a drink. It can get busy and the pizza can take almost 45 minutes to come out but who cares? Not me, I’m too busy watching Lloyd and Harry and getting drunk on a Sunday afternoon.
