Been going here 20 years. Terry and Kosal have been the only ones to cut my hair. Excellent work. Recommend it to anyone.

I had my hair cut today by Lisa. It was spot on awesome. Super professional. Fantastic attention to detail. She was fun and friendly to my daughter who was with me. I am glad I found this shop. I can’t wait to have Lisa cut my hair again.

My family has been going to Kutting Edge for many years. Everyone there is very friendly. My only complaint is that the place is a little dirty. Fortunately our stylist, Julio, is no longer working there. He has been cutting my hair for nearly 20 years, gave my 2 sons their first hair cuts as babies, and my husband won’t go to anyone else. Julio is extremely reliable, talented, and very reasonably priced. His number is 562−639−7649 and works in a nice salon, very close to Kutting Edge.

I have been coming here for years, but unfortunately my hairstylist Julio is no longer there. He definitely took my hair from a dry damaged unmanageable ugly brown to a nice healthy natural brown with highlights! I can’t recommend anyone else because I have been loyal to Julio but I can definitely say everyone was always very friendly. I clearly won’t be going back now that he is gone, I would recommend you call Julio at (562)639−7649. He is always very friendly and extremely flexible with my crazy schedule.

I absolutely love coming here. It may not be a high end salon but Terry who gives me my haircut is amazing. She always does a great job and for a good price! Love her and I love how she’ll always fit me in to her busy schedule!
Everyone there is nice and they have their own clientele but they all seem to know one another. I’ve has haircuts from almost everyone there but Terry is my go to and I’ve been coming to her for years and I’ll wait for her if I have to.

12 year customer. My senior picture, High school formal, prom, summer cuts, winter trims, job interview and even my wedding cut. The Kutting edge has been one part of my life that has been consistently a pleasure and have never failed to take care of my hair style needs. A comfortable environment and pleasant crowd of energetiic individuals make my routine stops exactly that, routine. I will gladly be patient and wait for the cut I want rather than regret a hair cut I will be stuck with for a few weeks. I have been coming here for years. Everyone is friendly and I’m always happy with my hair. I usually go to Terry but have had haircuts a couple times by one of the guys (can’t remember his name). It is very affordable. My only complaint is that you sometimes have to wait when you have an appointment so I would recommend getting there a little early.

The salon as awhole I would give 3 stars but I would not recomend Genaro to any of my friends. High energy is good for a party but not when you are doing a job like hair coloring. He knows what he is doing but because he was in a rush and talking too much he wasn’t consentrating. I had hair dye on my food and hands! And I took a shower and did my makeup before I went so I could continue with my day from there but how when he wet half my face and wipped off most of my makeup? When it was time to pay he said we don’t take visa but everyone else was paying with cards, he was going to make me go get cash. Then he said, «oh ok half on your card and half cash», I think that we very shaddy of him and the shop of a whole that it even happen like that. I don’t dislike him as a person just as a cosmotologist.

At first I just accompanied two of my friends who were having their hair done by Genaro, who’s the prototypical hilarious gay hair stylist. One of the friends has been going to him for about the last 2 and a half years and trusts him completely with her hair. When we arrived he said that he was running late, and asked if we could be dolls and just wait a little bit, which we didn’t have a problem with. The running-​behind-​schedule situation seems to be one that’s an everyday one, just as a warning.
While we were waiting one of my friends was going to the smoothie place, so Genaro asked for a drink of his own (I think it was 90 plus degrees that day). As we were there for at least 4 hours, I had a lot of time to observe the interactions between everyone who works and gets their hair done there. Everyone is extremely friendly and it has the atmosphere that all the clients who are there have been going there for years and love it. They seem to do great work with hair, and they’re moderately priced.
When Genaro was done with both of my friends’ hair, you could tell that he’s definitely an artist. With the friend who’s been going to him for years, her hair looked sexy, modern, yet very wearable. My other friend’s hair looked great too. At the end of their appointment, Genaro asked if I wanted to get my hair cut too. I politely declined, as I didn’t want to spend money at the time, but I told him that I could come in after a few months when I was back in town and I had a wedding to go to. I booked an 8:00am appointment for a Saturday morning two months ahead. He gave me his cell #, and I asked if he wanted my number, but he said there was no need, and that I should just call in later on to confirm.
Maybe 2 weeks before the appointment, I rescheduled for 8:30am instead. After a little reminding of who I was, he recollected, and thanked me for making the appointment a little later. I figured everything would be fine since now he had my number and I had just updated my appt time so I was definitely in the book.
Wrong. The day of the appt I walked up to the store and saw that there was NO ONE THERE. I called Genaro (he probably cussed a little at this point) and he made up some excuse that his father was sick, which I accepted at the time. He told me that he’d be there asap and until then he’d call one of his associates who lived closer. Half an hour later, his associate showed up. I think he was a slim bald guy, don’t remember his name, but he was great. We both went into the salon, and I told him about what Genaro had said, and that he said to start on my hair. The guys said no, he doesn’t want Genaro to get mad, so I practically pleaded with him to call Genaro to confirm (I really wanted to get back home and be on time for the wedding at this point). So he called him, and that’s when I realized that he had fibbed about his father being sick.
Anyway, turned out that the bald guy would just do my hair… and he really did a great job. He was absolutely a stand up guy (he even offered me one of his tamales he was having for breakfast), I think he’s training to be a court interpreter. He was so pleasant and great to chat with, and at the end wanted me to hold my dress up so he could see it with my hair.
The price was $ 35 but I talked it down to $ 30 since I had to wait half an hour. (He hadn’t realized I had been waiting so long.) All in all I might go back again if I was in that part of town, but with reservations. I’m sure they’re better with appointments that are just during standard business hours.

i think it’s actually spelled The Kutting Edge! well, i come here to get my hair cut by Kosal! i love that if i’m in dire need, he always seems to squeeze me in, although he is alwaysssss super busy!
i have curly thick hair, and to get a cut, color and (awesome) blow dry, i’m in there for a good 3 – 4 hours. once i was there for like 5 hours.
but i love that he always blow dries my hair straight, because it’s an unruly mop, and when he does it, it stays beautiful and shiny and straight for days!!! although, he doesn’t really do my bangs the way i like ‘em, but i’m growing them out anyway.
and i think the price is soooo reasonable. i sometimes get my products from him too, and he always advises me on a good shampoo/​conditioner, or shine serum, and i get a good price.
i think 4 stars because of price, the blow dry included, and it’s not a snobby place, and i always get a good laugh from Gerardo (i think that’s his name).
i always end up waiting for Kosal though, even if i do have an appointment!!! but i wait, because i’m usually at my wit’s end on what to do with my hair!
