I have been coming here so many times already and the quality of the food and service has never let me down. I always get the number 33(chicken bento) and I get a complete meal out of it for around $ 10. The rolls are delicious as well. Super healthy and great value for your money.

Excellent service. The employees are always so friendly and kind. My favorite cashier is Cecilia, she is always really kind and very helpful. The food is amazing and their bobas are to die for. Highly recommend it.

I usually come here expecting to wait a long time but 35 minutes for ONE roll(to go) seriously sucks! The guy doing cash didn’t even apologize, the guy bussing tables did. I love the food but honestly just let your customers know you’re understaffed and it’s going to be a 30+ min wait. I would have just gone to the Maki in Uptown tbhhhhhh

What the actual heck… They started cleaning with really strong smelling chemicals while we were eating. It was the grossest thing ever. I am sick to my stomach. Screw these guys…

Love the sumi salad and the sushi is always fresh. Might take some time to get the food when they are busy, but that is because it is all made from scratch!

Ok let’s get this straight off the bat. This is not a normal sit down sushi restaurant. It used to be phillys best, and it didn’t really change the décor much. You come in, they have a little water tank with a turtle and some fish. You place your order at the front counter, they have a big menu above to look at or you can look at a menu. The prices are still just like every other place, they also have a soda machine where you get your own refills. You seat yourself, and all your chop sticks and sauces are at all the tables, and they bring you out your food when it’s ready. They do start you off with some soup. Rolls came out nice and clean. Service was a bit slow, but it wasn’t too bad. We ordered the dynamite roll, the spicy Philly roll and the Washington. All 3 rolls came out good, but the Washington roll was off. It seemed to warm and the taste was off. Like other post, this place fills the sushi craving needs, not as good as other places but is fulfilling.

Had to do some shopping at the quad so we ended up here for an early dinner. The place is pretty small but there are still plenty of sushi roll options pictured on a huge board when you walk in. Kind of reminded me of a fast food sushi. You walk in and place your order at the register and pay. Then you chose where you want to sit. They do bring you out some miso soup which was pretty good. Then bring out your order. We ordered the Dynamite roll which is a baked roll with scallops(delicious!) Spicy philly roll(loved it) and the Washington roll. The only issue I had with the Washington rolls was that it wasn’t cold. I believe it was a piece of salmon on top of the roll, felt more room temp to warm. Not good! Other than that the service was ok, not to much interaction with your server. Nice little place to grab some sushi if you don’t want to go to an expensive sit down sushi restaurant.

I’ve never been disappointed with the food. I like the bento box with chicken teriyaki, California roll, and shrimp and vegetable tempura. The service is good, and the staff is always courteous.

This place is disappointing. You would think going to a Maki Yaki prices would be much more reasonable but there not at this location. I should of just went to Azabu or Sushi Joint Happy HR. The rolls are basic and the foods is nothing out of the ordinary from any other locations. I much more disappointed for the value of what you order. Although $ 2 or $ 3 extra dollars does go along way.

Decent sushi for a semi ghetto strip mall. Prices are fair. I like the baked salmon roll and baked lobster roll. Miso soup is free when you dine in.

I have enjoyed this place for quite sometime. They are pretty reasonable priced and portions are good. I love the lobster roll and my boys get the California or tempura roll. They are fairly quick with your food. All in all a good little spot that’s casual in its environment.

I’ve had the udon soup, California rolls, and tempura California rolls. Pros: good food, good combos, lots of variety. & they don’t charge extra for sauce. Yay!!! :) Cons: small location(not really a problem but good to know) & they’re always rushing to close within the Hour they close lol. I dot get it bc they would be a big no no in any other service job i worked. I understand when you’ve had a long day and want to close, but it’s pretty disruptive. Also one when my girlfriend and I came to eat, they didn’t bother to clean the table we were at. On a side note, the udon i took to go definitely seemed like more food than when I ate in. But I could be wrong. Anyway. Overall I would definitely come back so none of the«cons» really bothered me.

This place is horrible. The service is slow and the sushi is not fresh at all. I highly recommend going somewhere else for Japanese food. I called in to place an order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I got there my food wasn’t ready. I had to wait approximately another 15 minutes before my food was ready. I took it home and realized they gave me the entirely wrong order. They over charged me for my udon soups and all I got was two big things of miso soup. No chicken. No tofu. Just mother. Fu. Cking. Miso soup. And the sushi they gave me tasted old and spoiled. This place is disgusting. When I called to ask about fixing my order the inept employee told me I could make another order but he would have to charge me again. This lack of customer service and over all shit food and experience is the reason I am writing this review and will never come back.

F for failure. Horrible service. Ordered a chicken bowl, chicken & beef plate, and Washington Roll which are probably the most simplest items on the menu. Took over 30 minutes for our order! I noticed others dining in who ordered after us were getting their orders before us. «OK,» I thought, «Maybe they do the takeout orders last,» which still wouldn’t make sense. But then a girl who placed a takeout order 4 orders behind us got her meal before us! WTH?! To top it all off, when we got home, the salad for the chicken and beef plate didn’t have any dressing. How can you mess up so bad?! If you want fast Japanese food, go to the Maki Yaki on Bright instead. I’m not paying $ 29 for mediocre Japanese food with slow service!!!

The customer service is appalling. The lady who took our order messed up, and blamed us for her mistake. I ordered California Rolls and was charged $ 11 for them as opposed to $ 5. When I told her, she literally told me «no you didn’t order that, you ordered this» and when I demanded a refund, she said NO because it’s not her fault. Who does that?! The only reason I came here is because it’s close to home and I regret not driving an extra mile to go to the amazing Joy Sushi at the Whittwood Towne Center. Please don’t waste your money coming here if you expect quality service. The customer should always be right no matter what the situation is. These people should not be running a customer service based establishment! I feel bad giving 1 star only because the chefs here are so kind and the food is brought out quick, but no matter what, if your customer service is crap, your place is too. Never again.

Worst service ever. Between the three consecutive times my order has been messed up, they only gave me a refund when I asked them to and didn’t even bother apologizing for the mistake. Last time I ordered from them, they quoted me five minutes for a salad and I ended up waiting 20 — which was my entire break. I had to return later in the evening to pick up my food and although I was fuming, they didn’t bother trying to fix the situation. This final time, I ordered a salad and they gave me the wrong salad. I had to return during my break and wasted it waiting for them to handle what had happened. They were going to give me the difference between the salads, but I just wanted a refund at that point. I thanked them for giving me my refund and they ignored me and went back to talking between each other. Serious? No apology or anything. Hands down, most over priced Japanese food place in the area with the worst customer service.

I’ve been here several times only to get somewhat of a «fix» but it never really does the job. It always seems to find a way to leave something to be desired. I think today was the last straw. Showed up to get their 3 hand roll combo, asked up front about substituting their bland California Roll option for something else, I was told there’d be an up-charge, which I was okay with. Asked for the spicy-salmon option. They agreed, I paid, end of story, right? Wrong. After waiting around for several minutes, they call my name — I figured great, order’s ready. NOT. The cashier told me the chef said he refused do it. Even after some made up ridiculous upgrade fee… Meh, cancelled the order, got a refund. I’m sure I was better off for not going through with their bottom rung of the ladder quality temaki sushi.

Here is what’s up with this place. It’s a small, sushi-like restaurant. Too many options for a small place, they should just pick their best items. Nevertheless, Thai is my first time, and since I don’t trust just any place, I ordered the chicken teriyaki. Because if they don’t do good chicken, imagine how awful the rest of the food will be. Soo… I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and a side of shrimp egg rolls. I have to say, the chicken was excellent and the rice and veggies were as expected. The miso soup was so so and the egg rolls were good, but too big. Big is not always better, the taste of the filling gets loss in the huge shell. But it was edible. So if you want some good teriyaki chicken, come on down. Enjoy

I like coming to Maki Yaki when I get that sushi craving since it is close to home. The lady working there is normally really nice and helpful with questions. I’m not one of those people who can just eat anything and have it raw. I have to know what’s in it, I definitely can’t do the raw stuff. This place has about the same amount of options as other sushi places. They just don’t have the cooks out in the open like some do to make it a fun environment. The place is small inside so sometimes I come and there is no seating. My favorite is the California roll and the Crunch roll. Its a good place to come if you are in the mood for sushi. There’s a lot of shops around too so you can eat and shop after. Great location to have a sushi place to eat at.

Great fast sushi lunch! Decent rolls and selection for a fast food place. The sushi chef makes great hand and cut rolls, fresh sushi and crisp tempura. I’m a big fan of the sumi salad(shredded cabbage, toasted almonds, scallions and tempura crumbs with a rice vinegarette. Good prices!
