My experience with coins has been very limited to non-existent. :) My grandmother left me some silver coins many years ago. I was in the market to sell for a future car down payment. I did some research online(lowball send in your coin sites) and looked on Unilocal for recommends. I live near this location and had walked by it many times… I spoke to Dominic on the phone and went in this afternoon. The appraisal process was stress free. I was worried I was getting into a pawnshop«oh you must be desperate vibe». Didn’t happen. Dominic was a total gent. I felt his offer was very fair based on my online research. As people came into the shop, I told him to feel free to help them because our appraisal was for a lot of coins and I wasn’t in a rush. I even ended up selling no some old gold jewelry I could tell from his interactions with multiple clients, he was very knowledgable. He also took time to explain the«why» to people who were selling or buying… why one thing was graded or priced differently. There was even a regular who came by ask Dominic, if a coin he found on eBay was a good deal to purchase. To me that is the best kind of business when people trust you. Support neighborhood businesses! Thanks Dominic… my experience was very positive and I totally recommend. They are closed on Sunday. FYI.

I love this place! The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and most important, has patience with my ridiculous questions. Coins are a new world to me so thank goodness the owner is willing to make an attempt to educate me. Great little gem in whittier!

My boyfriend and I were driving down to SoCal and since he loves collecting coins, he was really excited to visit Whittier Coins. We started our journey in the morning and called half an hour after they opened at 11am to confirm that they would be closing at 6pm. Upon calling, we were greeted with an unprofessional«Hey» and only after asking about the store hours(which he confirmed was until 6pm) did he apologize for his informal greeting saying that he thought we were ‘someone else.’ We hit traffic on our way but still made it to the store by 5:25pm to find that they had completely closed out for the day. What a disappointment! Especially since there were signs advertising that store hours were until 6pm Anyways, we peeked in through the window and it did not seem like they had a huge variety of things. It was definitely not worth it for us to have stopped by. My boyfriend was very sad We’re giving 1 star only because it’s the minimum.

Took my boys to this coin shop today and we loved it. The young man that helped us was super nice to my kids. Very reasonably priced and knowledgable. We will for sure be going back soon.

Rude service, this isn’t the place to buy coins or currency, that’s for damn sure. Rude, weird, younger gentleman working there by the name of Dominic. Gives off a very creepy vibe and knows very little about coins. No luck finding anything of value whatsoever. Don’t waste your time! Avoid at all costs.

Down to earth people, don’t give them any bull***t, they’ll treat you nicely. The place may seem rough, but guess what, it is, guard dog and a guy with a gun always present, I really like this place. I buy silver coins in here, always a good price.

Nice coin shop. Staff is very friendly. Was turned off by the older gentleman’s low ball offer some of my proof sets and then turning around and trying to sell me his proof sets for 2x market value. Deal with the younger guys for fair prices.
