I was very very disappointed with this store front yesterday. I scheduled an appt for a wedding cake test tasting Thursday. When we arrived we sat and waited for about 20 minutes after they told us to grab a drink out of the cooler. We just sat there. Waiting… waiting…finally the employee came out not clean, not happy, and kinda just stood there after placing 4 cupcakes and 3 small cups of desserts on the table. They employee made the atmosphere very uncomfortable when trying to talk about what we were and weren’t liking. She proceeded to talk about how she booked a $ 2,000 wedding for a 650 person wedding. Our’s won’t be that big and she knew that because when I set up the appointment they asked how many people would be there. It was like she was just trying to sell as much as she could without thinking about what would be right for the Bride’s wedding. There were no look books. Nothing to show off their quality of work. When she could tell that we were not interested she mentioned that there was a $ 25 tasting fee. Never mentioned when I booked the appt. Never mentioned when we got there. Not mentioned when we were talking about cake prices. If we were just going to pay $ 25 for cupcakes it would have been smarter to grab a dozen to go and not have to deal with the uncomfortable staff. On top of alllllll that they are serving cake equivalent to a boxed cake mix. I used to make cakes and frequently use boxed cake mix at home. The cupcakes that we were given were not fresh they were old/stale/dry. The frosting tasted like it came out of a can. Cherry pie filling out of a can. Everything there is just assembled in that building it’s not a great recipe that you have to have because no one else makes one this good. It’s just plain old box cake mix quality. I was very upset because the bride was upset and feeling like she couldn’t get the cake she wanted for her wedding. Not a place I will ever recommend in the future!

We got a dozen frosted cookies… Too sweet, too much coloring agent that led to a very weird after taste and too pricy. A dozen for 15 bucks? Seriously?

I had the cupcakes specially made for my son’s birthday and it was delish. The cookies were tasty and super cute. The staff seemed too busy or annoyed to answer my questions but other than that the product was amazing.

My first encountered with Sweetly Scrumptious was because of a Groupon deal way back in 2012. I thought they were great! Edible and all, etc. So when my little boy’s birthday party came in October 2013 I ditched Bagatelle and Piccadilly to go with Sweetly’s cupcakes. I thought chocolate cupcakes would be more appealing to little kids than hazelnut and strawberry cream cakes. I still had the Groupon but they said they no longer endorsed it. I was fine with it since I wanted cupcakes for little kids. I informed the pleasant lady who took my order about my kid’s birthday party and let her have the whole authority in choosing flavors and decors to woo the children. I figured let them do what they are best at instead of being picky and choosy. Two dozen cupcakes came to a $ 72 bill. I was fine with that, too since I really wanted cupcakes for little kids. When the word«cupcakes» was announced, all the kids swamped the table, and I was busy handing them out. I was busier taking them back! I couldn’t believe that the kids were in line retuning the cupcakes! From the mouth of babes: «It doesn’t taste good». Soggy, ugly, thick, yuck. I thought of bringing the«cupcakes» back to let the owner know but during the cleaning up process, my husband had secretly disposed all bitten-into-and-spit-it-out Sweetly Scrumptious products” in the trash. And that was it. Never been back ever since. I recently saw a sign of Sweetly Scrumptious posted in Andover and felt so incline to give it a review. And I will continue to drive 14 miles to Bagatelle for real edible cakes.

Delicious cake balls, cupcakes and cookies! They have catered several social group’s and company parties I have attended and people always rave about their deserts!

Offering a more concentrated selection than some other bakeries, including Twitzed Confections located a few stores down, Sweetly Scrumptious deals in the pink and bows and«girly» side of baking that would be overt and inappropriate in any business that didn’t sell cupcakes. As I’ve mentioned in my visits to other bakeries, it’s important to have one specialized standout item that is unique to your bakery if you want to stand out. I figure for Sweetly it’s probably their cake balls, though their whole line of bakery case items lean towards cake — cake balls, cupcakes, and muffins, primarily, though they had some cookies, too. I tried one of every flavor of cake ball(six in all), plus a frosted sugar cookie and a frosted muffin. The cookie was placed into a little paper bag, and I noticed the the frosting was beginning to stain through it — a taste revealed it to be a little too moist and messy. Better than dry frosting, I suppose, and I had no problems with the cookie, so it was alright, I guess. «A little too moist» continued to present itself in the other items I sampled. The frosted chocolate toffee muffin, barely justifying its existence as a separate bakery item when it’s for all intents and purposes just as sweet as a cupcake, had a chocolate frosting that still had a little too much moisture left in it. The toffee bits were nice, though the chocolate drizzle was just Hershey’s. Again, not the end of the world. But the muffin was too moist, too, and it’s here where«too much moisture» leads into using words like«undercooked». It continued with the cake balls. Ping pong ball-shaped pieces of cake nicely covered in a chocolate shell, it was here where the undercooking was most evident, leaving a doughy texture that was still quite tasty, and almost truffle-like, but still was not what was intended. Favorite flavor was the lemon cake with white chocolate coating. Even bad cake tastes good, and this was far from bad cake. But when the same mistakes perpetuate through a variety of items and flavors, I get the impression these textures are standard operating procedure for Sweetly Scrumptious, and they’re not my favorite.

Placed an order from San Diego for Valentine’s Day Delivery. Service was great & my BF loved the goodies. He said best chocolate he’s ever had. Plan to visit when I’m in town.

I used cupcakes from Sweetly Scrumptious for my wedding. This place definitely deserves better reviews than I have seen on Unilocal.I’d tasted their cupcakes before, but had never been to the shop. The service I received was stellar. I got to sample a few flavors. We discussed what I had in mind, and Olivia was really helpful in accommodating my requests. Seriously, I have absolutely no complaints. Customizing the colors and adding decorative touches to the cupcakes didn’t even cost anything extra! Oh, and the cupcakes were delicious, but I already knew that. My guests loved them, especially the double chocolate flavor. Usually when you are working with vendors, the word«wedding» jacks up the price about 20%. At Sweetly Scrumptious I was given a wedding DISCOUNT.

I agree with the other two reviews. No customer service and the cupcake I bought was nothing special. I agree with the girl from Chicago. go visit some other cupcake shops otherwise I have a feeling your businesss may fail. I also felt very uncomfortable when I came in the shop… I too was trying to support a local business.

I grew up in the lovely little city of Wichita, KS, but have moved to Chicago. Upon my annual visit to see friends and family, I stopped into Sweetly Scrumptious to check it out. And boy was it a disappointment. I walked in the door and no one was even at the counter to greet me. There were also no other patrons in the shop. I stood for a good 5 minutes before someone came out from the back. The place was dead. The lady who helped me was not friendly and seemed to be in a terrible mood. There were not very many cupcakes to choose from. The display was nearly empty. She went to the back to get me 1 chocolate cupcake. It was nothing special. Something I could’ve made using my Easy Bake Oven from 2nd grade. The frosting on top was not frosting… more like cool whip from a can? Quite bizarre. Wichita, what happened to you? You should have much higher expectations for a local bakery. I love supporting local businesses and that was why I stopped into Sweetly Scrumptious. I was so excited to see something fun like this pop up in Normandie Center. However, it was nothing short of a disappointment. Clean it up, SS. Make some fresh product, paste a smile on your face, greet you customers and don’t make me feel stupid for stepping into your tacky cupcake shop. Off I go… back to Chicago where I can eat at Molly’s, Sprinkles and Crumbs Cupcakes. Perhaps the owner of SS could go on a field trip and stop by these shops to learn what it takes to be a REAL cupcake shop. oh, and maybe some etiquette lessons and a interior designer wouldn’t hurt. ;)
