OK. Deep breath… here we go. A long time ago, this café was owned by some very good friends of mine who ran it just like a coffee shop should be ran: with humor, a smile, with cherished memories, good food and cheap(but amazing) coffee and espresso. Local artisans produced artwork that hung on the walls, persian rugs carpeted old wooden floors, comfy couches begged you to ignore your duties for just awhile more. It USED to be this way. An English couple bought the business after the aforementioned owners parted ways. I have given this business multiple chances at redeeming itself but here are a *few* of the disturbing reasons why I will never go back: –the coffee is no longer gourment, Circle K’s coffee tastes fresher –I am convinced no one there knows how to properly make espresso –the croissants are bought from Costco in bulk and are frozen until ready to use. Thus, they are dry and the only flavor comes from whatever else was in the freezer with them –the«baked goods» are not at all pleasing the the eye –art no longer decorates the walls, instead it is tacky western knick-knacks and bric-à-brac –the salads are haphazardly thrown together with the spinach being partially frosted over with ice and altogether, generally tasting like dirt. Literally. The food is horrendous and anyone who says otherwise… I don’t even know. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone for any reason. Doesn’t really matter anyways as they CLOSED a month or two ago, my guess is lack of business. I hope someone purchases the little café and birngs it back to what it USED to be. I hope the English owners find a different calling.

This cute little café in the historic part of town sells homemade English delights, wraps, sandwiches and salads for lunch, as well as coffee, smoothies, and ice cream. Eclectically decorated with western themed items as well as clocks displaying time zones around the world and even a globe sticking out of the wall, there are quite a bit of decorations to take in while you wait for your order. The service we received was friendly and genuine. Some might call it a little slow, but I’ll call it Old West relaxed and casual. Based on the business card, I’m pretty sure this place is family owned and it certainly feels like it’s part of someone’s well-loved home, right down to the couches! The only thing missing to make it a real home is a pet! This was just a quick break for us during our trip, so we ordered smoothies and ice cream sundaes for the road. While we waited for our orders, I noticed a couple of customers enjoying a leisurely lunch. This feels like one of those nice neighborhood cafes that would be great to sit and relax while catching up with an old friend. Located on the US60, it’s a very convenient location in the charming downtown area with free street parking right in front. It’s a great place to make a stop to relax for a few minutes without going too far off the highway.
