Only thing keeping this from 5 stars was the delivery time(and that wasn’t too bad, either). We had thin crust pizza, mozzarella caprese, garlic cheese bread, and fettuccini Alfredo in our group, and everyone was happy with what they got. Price wasn’t bad for all that food, either! Will definitely get them again the next time we’re in the area.

It was just okay. Let like an Italian Diner to me. Overpriced for what it was. I ordered eggplant parmigiana and although it was a nice portion I did not care for the sauce. It was very sweet and Ragu tasting to me. Feeling blessed to live In A place where I can get really good authentic Italian food because I didn’t get it her.

Ordered pizza and a salad at 7:30 from Here. The place was recommended to us after we checked in. The pizza arrived cold. But no wonder it took over 90 minutes to arrive. Threw the menu in the box and won’t give it another try.

From the moment I came into the restaurant, I was made to feel welcome and comfortable. Mimmo, my server, was very attentive personable! He made a great suggestion about what type of pizza to choose, the Caprese, and I asked him if he could add some Italian sausage, which he did. The sausage had amazing flavor and the pizza was the best I’ve ever had! I am extremely picky about pizza and the taste, texture, and elements were a perfect fusion. I had a cappuccino afterwards that reminded me of the ones I enjoyed in Naples, delicioso! I highly recommend Sal’s by Victor and am very happy I don’t live too far from here. The prices were reasonable to boot! Come enjoy!

I’m from NYC so I’m kind of picky about Italian food. Okay, to be fair, I’m more than picky. Tonight I was delighted to try a bunch of dishes from this restaurant. I tasted the ziti, a bite of Sicilian(nearly impossible to find in VA), the chicken parm, a stuffed shell and a bit of meatball. I admit I picked of fall my sons’ plates just to sample of all and ended up eating none of my own manicotti. I didn’t have a bad bite. It all reminded me of food I could get at home in NYC. That says a lot. Also worth noting, the staff and owners were absolutely beyond friendly. Just eat here. Williamsburg DOES have decent Italian. Wish I’d known sooner! 5 stars.

I’ve eaten here twice now and I’m not particularly impressed. The service is fine, the atmosphere is nice but the food is merely OK. This time we ordered the Greek salad to share and for $ 9 we got a rather small portion IMO. The only part of the salad that was generous was the feta cheese other than that it was weak compared to salad portions at many other Italian places I have eaten at. We also ordered a large Sicilian pizza. The crust(the unburnt parts) was decent. Not amazing just good. Two of the three toppings we ordered were scant. The worst part though(and this main reason I can’t bring myself to really like this place) is the sauce. Their sauce is very plain. Uninspired. Non-distinct. It has all the flavor of a marinara that you would dip cheese sticks into. I have found that the best Italian restaurants have their own take on sauce. Something that sticks with you one way or the other. For good or ill. The sauce at Sal’s takes no chances and goes right for the middle and leaves me feeling ‘meh’ Will only return when invited by friends or as part of a group. Would not choose to dine there on my own.

My MIL& I had just arrived in town and were in the mood for pizza & beer. I Unilocaled the area and found this place, close to our hotel. What a lucky chance to come across this gem! An Italian restaurant without the typical white linen formalities, the food was authentic and delicious. Service was friendly and timely. The homemade desserts and other treats that were available for take-away meant that our Sal’s adventure could continue back at home. This place was GREAT!

We stopped by on a Monday night just before closing after a day in Busch Gardens Christmas Town for a take out pizza. Victor was in and while the family waited, was super friendly and generous — telling us of his background and sharing some samples — even some gelato for my son. Could not have asked for a better owner and host — he truly loves what he does and his positive attitude and smile are a reason we will come again next time we are in town. And our pizza hit the spot, so all around a great experience.

Great pizza! The cheese, sauce, crust, grease are perfectly portioned! Perfect to fold and eat just like NY pizza was meant to be eaten. Would highly recommend!

This place is not hoity-toity atmosphere. The food was amazing, to start we had the calamari and it was fabulous. My wife had rigatoni with meat sauce and she loved it. I had the veal Parm and it was incredible. I can see this becoming a Fav place in Williamsburg…

Found this place on Unilocal and after some searching and a wayward GPS located it in the corner of the strip mall. The place itself is huge and well decorated. We were seated in the back of the back which was perfect. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. The food was outstanding. The prices were very good as well. They had Peroni on draft which was a plus. The pizza was excellent. Lasagna was a standout as well. Calamari was acceptable — not fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their dish and desert — cannoli and tartufo.

So nice — we ate here twice! A hair away from 5 stars. Some of the best Italian food I have had in a long time. Why no fifth star? Frozen canoli and one person in our party of 5 did not like his dish.(I thought everything was FABULOUS.) The chicken fancese and veal with lemon/butter are both terrific. Time-honored recipes and true«red sauce» dishes like baked Ziti and Rigatoni. Bread and«mini» garlic sticks are hot and delicious. WELOVE Sal’s(by Victor) — there are a bunch of «Sal’s) and Italian chefs named Sal in Williamsburg — but THIS is the one you want.(Not the«other» Sal’s).

Standard pizza. We went to an Italian restaurant for pizza instead of a pizza place so that’s what we got. The calamari and mozzarella were standard. Not a bad place to eat. Service was excellent. They had a military discount of ten percent as well.

been here twice, decided to make a review now. The interior is nicely decorated, the paintings give it an Italian feel. the older Italian lady(could be the owner) comes around and checks up on guests, which is really nice. The food is good, had the spinach ravioli. The pieces were big but weren’t that many on the plate. The tomato sauce was nicely seasoned and not too acidic. The bread they give out is nice and soft. Good tool to mop up the yummy tomato sauce with. one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Williamsburg.

Came here for a friend’s birthday. Food was great, service was a little slow. However, we had a big party and it was a Saturday night. They serve garlic knots for starters. They were good, though some of them could have used more seasoning! For dinner, I ordered the Rigatoni with Broccoli and Zucchini, which was sauteed in olive oil and garlic. Pretty yummy dish. Enjoyed the food and more importantly the company! I would be interested in trying this place again when I’m in Williamsburg. Maybe a more traditional dish!

I had been given a $ 30 food certificate from my resort, and Sal’s came highly recommended. I wasn’t disappointed. First, the place is huge, and they have a ton of servers on. I could never imagine a wait for a table. Seriously, they probably have the same square footage as a CVS! I started with a bowl of chicken vegetable soup(no cups). It was loaded with vegetables, especially green beans, but a bit lite on the chicken. I didn’t care; it was good! My salad came out with a bread basket practically at the same time. My waitress put the dressing on the salad and proceeded to leave the giant bottle of dressing on the table in case I wanted more. I recommend the house vinagrette. Before I could finish my soup or salad or even touch the bread, my chicken marsala over spaghetti came out. Talk about a full table! The chicken was delicious. I received 3 decent sized pieces with more than enough spaghetti. If you like mushrooms, they give you plenty with the meal. The sauce is very light, and you will need to wear a bib. I hardly ever get food on my clothes, but my white t-shirt sustained some damage. The pasta was soft, definitely not al dente. I liked it, though I know some of you might prefer a firmer pasta. Because I needed to spend $ 30 on food, I took home 2 desserts. The first was a limoncello flavored cake. It was a single serving size, moist, and flavorful. The second was a chocolate cake, which was a much heavier and larger portion. I ate that over 2 nights. I walked away very satisfied. They are a bit too quick with bringing the food out, but I have no complaints about the quality of it. The service was top notch too. Overall, if you like good Italian food, you should check Sal’s out. Oh, and if you like pizza, you might want to try theirs. Some other folks ordered them, and they were huge. And, your waitress will serve you your first slice also. Just a classy place all around.

Don’t be confused by the other Sal’s in the area. This is the one the locals go to. There was a huge wait and pizza to go orders were moving out the door at a rapid pace. We called ahead and although they don’t take formal reservations, you can put your name down and a time. Being from the trip-state area and arguable some of the best pizza in the country I wasn’t optimistic about Sal’s. The boys ordered the cheese and mushroom and it certainly held its own. Some of the better pizza we have had south of the mason Dixon line. My wife had the chicken frances and was very pleased with the meal. Nice lemon flavor and not oily. I am not usually a veal person, but slow cook a shank and it is hard to resist. The osombuco was very good. One of the better dishes I have had. It was served over a risotto that was creamy and not overly heavy. Pair it with the sangria and it cut the richness of the dish. Several people stopped by the table to comment on the dish as one of the best choices. I can take a bit longer than the other options so order an app and your first sangria and enjoy the anticipation. This place was recommended by new friends at the College of William and Mary and truly was one of the better dining experiences we had in Williamsburg. Compared to meals that cost the family up to a hundred dollars more, this was more memorable and stood out as a place we would return to.

I came here for the second time this past Friday and was again impressed with the prompt service despite the crowds. The fact that it’s been a W-burg staple for over 30 years speaks for itself. Everyone in our party of four was all pleased. Each of us ordered one of their pasta dishes, which includes a starter salad and bread. The dishes range in price from $ 11-$ 15, which all in all is pretty solid considering the portions. Both times I’ve come have been the night before a race, so I’ve strayed away from dishes with heavy amounts of cheese and have been happy. The spicy marinara sauce I had on my most recent visit– the Arrabiata– had a ton of heat and was really good. This is a wonderful place for families, as it’s huge and has plenty of large tables. The restaurant itself is quite massive, but still fills up on the weekends. Luckily they do an excellent job staffing the place to meet the demand. There seems to be a mix of both devoted locals and tourists.
