I went here last night with my friend who lives in Wilmington. The entire bar(dance room and live music room) smelled like vomit. Straight vomit. It was so gross I literally had to hold napkins over my nose almost the entire time. I would not recommend.

So for the first Sunday opener of the NFL’s 2013 season, it was C.R. Hooligan’s. I’m more than happy to go to a place on Sunday for football and drink beer. The place gets really busy around the 1:30pm mark(yes, West Coasters, football starts LATE here), so we got there around nooners, and I happily drank coffee until Mr. Alexander got there. I was rocking my Manning jersey, Mr. V his Willis jersey, Mr. Alexander his Brown t-shirt. And his own mug. Nice. And it was also Mr. V’s first fantasy day of his first fantasy season with his new smartphone with the Yahoo app. I mean to say it was a good day. Football needs food, and drink. I ordered a few Miller Lites, (don’t hate, I wanted to drink more than one without falling to the floor, just I can be a lightweight) Mr. V his Guinness, Mr. Alexander was High Life. The pulled pork sandwich for $ 3 was pretty bomb — the bread was super soft, and the pork was thick with sauce, like molasses thick, probably had molasses– but it was good on a Miller-filled stomach that was angry that she was losing in fantasy. Mr. V ordered the wings, which he devoured before I could get a picture, and same with Mr. Alexander. And the Mr. V ate Mr. Alexander’s wings, and this giant pile of nachos that made his belly angry at him later in the evening. But the chunks of beef and loads of cheese were doing the job that bar food should. This is a good place for football.

CR Hooligans is a a sporty dive bar in the heart of Trolley Square. There are multiple flat screen TV’s all over the bar each showing different games. They had a great happy hour special $ 3 dollar draft beer and that includes some good stuff like Dogfish 60 min IPA, not your average piss beer. The menu is typical bar fare — hamburgers, wings, nachos, quesadillas, etc. They also have booths with their own individual TV’s if you prefer to be more private. We stopped by on a Wed night and there were maybe 15 ppl there. By 10pm, the place had cleared out and we were the only ones left, mind you last call is at 1:30! So i’m not sure what kind of traffic this place gets on the weekdays but based on the reviews, it seems like it’s a more popular spot on the weekends.

One of the number of bars in a 500 ft radius. This is a great place to watch any sporting event — there are TVs everywhere. Each booth has it’s own TV, where you can control the channel. We sat down at the bar around 10PM and the place was quite empty. We were engrossed with the 2 TVs in front of us showing the Phils game on one and the Cardinals game on the other. When we looked around 1.5hrs later, the place was packed. It seems like a place where people usually frequent and people all pretty much know each other. Since we were not in party mode, we had a couple more beers and left a little after midnight. There is a room connected to the bar where I saw flashing lights and heard music playing. I poked my head in there before we left and saw that there is a huge dance floor in there with a separate bar. This is definitely one of those fist-pumping, sweat dripping, college-party-hardy type of rooms. Hey, that’s pretty good for Wilmington… I’ll definitely be back to check out all the surrounding bars.

We were there on a really dead Sunday so it definitely give off the impression as a fun place but it’s a sports bar so I think it goes without saying that they are fun. It was all locals I assume since everyone knew everyone else. The bartender was really friendly. The specials were $ 2 domestics which included Yuengling and 45¢ wings. My friend tried the«suicide» and they weren’t very hot but we love spicy so maybe we’re a little pickier? It’s right in the middle of Trolley Square so if you’re in the area check it out. If you don’t like it then walk your ass to a neighboring bar.

I don’t really know how you can be a fan of any bar that closes at 1:30am but when its in Wilmington you have to go with the flow. This is really 4 different bars joined to getter by a series of walkways. They each have their own types of music and for most of the night the 3rd room has karaōke. Cheap drinks and a good section outside for smoking. Never heard of or experienced issues inside of the club but one night I saw one of the most talked about fights since Paquiao/Mayweather. And just like that fight, it never went pass the talking stages. All in all probably the most fun you will have in Wilmington, take that how you want to…
