Came on by and dropped in while I was on vacation. Gotta say it is a really chilled place to hang out and smoke if you ever come to NC. The inside is small, but they have tables outside and in the back patio. The server was awesome and very respectful, he would explain the hookah process(if your a nooby) and come check on you every so often to make sure your experience is good. They also sell food(spicy chicken quesadilla and chicken bacon cheese wrap are the shiznick) also have a nice selection of beer. So if your ever in town close to Wilmington check it out!

Great little bar. Very chill with extensive beer selection and good hookah. They also make AMAZING grilled cheese! I’ll definitely be coming back.

I’ve only been here once, and it was because I thought I was going to watch people audition for a singing event. I was incorrect about the event, but this little bar is a gem. They offer a few random eats in the same sort of manor you could expect from a punk bar. The beer however, was an amazing deal. 2 $ bottles with a more generous selection than most places offer all told. The atmosphere was eclectic and gypsy, the staff was kind, the drinks were cold… I can’t really ask for anything more than that in a place to grab a drink.

Ok, what more can you ask for? Low cost drinks, hookah’s, and food. Did I mention music?

Nice atmosphere, but if you’re like me and are expecting some good quality hookah, stay far away. They were out of almost every shisha on the menu(which was a sub par selection to begin with) which was the first red flag. The brands of tobacco they use are low quality and they use quick light coals that they light with a cigarette lighter, which was just appalling to me. My hookah had so many problems that I eventually just gave up after having the waiter attempting to revive it several times. Overall, a disappointing experience.

So… where do I begin… I came into town and was looking for a place to smoke hookah. This was the only place according to google that was open till 2 am. I called a cab and came here, not knowing that it was this dingy, creepy, disgusting place… We walked in and didn’t get greeted, I asked a couple people what should we do and they yelled out BRIAN ! CUSTOMERS! So he finally came from behind the counter and says, we are not cooking! For the night! I proceeded to say ok that’s fine we just want to smoke a hookah… He then proceeded to say we generally close a 12 so… your late! I said well according to google you close at 2 so that’s why I spent $ 20 bucks on a cab to come here… then proceeded to beg him and saying we will leave whenever you want! Just serve us! He finally accepted. Brian appeared to be on some serious cocaine! He couldn’t stop sniffling and tweeking! I’ve been to college and I know how a coke head acts! This was a horrible experience thus far but I was determined to smoke a damn hookah! We are still here now and the hookah is ok but the service has been horrific! Horrific being an understatement!

A great creative hub in town – one of my favorite places in Wilmington. It gets the reputation as a hippie bar, but it’s way more than that and attracts a very diverse crowd of all ages. Excellent craft beer selection, very reasonable priced hookah(and they carry brands Al Fakher, Nakhla, some Starbuzz and more!), and they have a lot of different events going on, such as Fire and Drum night(fire spinning/drum circle), burlesque shows, bellydancing, live music and the list goes on(and there’s a lot of local performers!). If you’re looking for a cool bar, a good place to meet interesting people and drink some nice microbrews, give The Gypsy a try!

The inside is a bit run down, but a great place to fire dance, do a drum circle or see belly dancing. I have had a beer or two her, but just like to go play in the drum circle.

We went to the Juggling Gypsy because I’m a big fan of the hookah bars/restaurants in our hometown. I was hopeful that there would be something up to their caliber in Wilmington. Evidently there isn’t. Instead of a Middle-Eastern restaurant with great food and hookahs, it seemed to be a hipster hangout more than anything. You have to smoke the hookahs outside, which gives you the choice of either sitting out basically in the parking lot or on their back patio, which they charged us $ 5 a person for as a «cover». The hookah was good initially, but the coals they use makes the hookah go harsh VERY quickly, and they also don’t use enough coal(only one for a large hookah instead of two). We had to ask them to repack it within ten minutes, and then it needed another one again very quickly. They had a belly dancing showcase, which I was looking forward to, but it wasn’t real belly dancers. Maybe it’s the unfair comparison to the places I’m used to, but I was expecting professional dancers. These girls were clearly beginners. I’m guessing they take some kind of class somewhere and were putting on a show — which, hey, great for them. But it wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for, and so I was disappointed. Half the time they weren’t even really belly dancing. It was more just twirling around on stage, and sometimes not even to Arabic music. Anyway, this isn’t a BAD place to go. It just wasn’t what I had hoped for or expected. I don’t know that we’ll go back again.

I am a hookah bar frequenter. On our trip to Wilmington, My husband and our traveling companion and I decided to check out Juggling Gypsy. We had just come from Adam’s Memory Lane and I had picked up an issue of Uncanny X-Men. I decided to read it at our table. This struck up a good geeky conversation with our server who was really cool and helpful in helping us pick out shisha. The beer was good(all«local»), the atmosphere was laid back, the service was great: all-around good time! My only complaints are that they were out of the Russian sparkling white wine that I wanted to try and that their plain shisha was not of a good enough quality to smoke plain. But the beer I ordered instead was really good and so was the Arabic coffee/mocha latte shisha mix that we smoked, so I guess I can overlook it! I wish I had known what our server’s name was, but he was really friendly. I hope he and the manager start making comics soon!

Um, Went here for the hookah, and they definitely have a large selection of shisha. Was not impressed with the type of coals they used, and how that affected the smoke of the hookah. The ambiance of the place is in the name of the place, its a café, that seems to attract hipsters that love coffee and the whole reading poetry on stage type of crowd. Love the fact that they had an outdoor patio that you could smoke outside. Good for a causal outing kind of date.

The ‘Juggling Gypsy Café’ is my all-time favorite Wilmington hang-out! My first experience at the ‘Gypsy’ was a belly-dance showcase, which I loved! I’ve been back there many times since for a myriad of fun events(bellydance and burlesque showcases, live music, street parties, subversive film nights, etc). The eclectic atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, the people you meet are entertaining and unique, the snacks are great, there’s always a great deal for drinks, delicious hookahs, and the staff are always nice and helpful. If you’re every in Wilmington, and are looking for a fun place to hang out, ‘The Juggling Gypsy’ is for you! :o)
