Whenever in downtown Wilmington I pass Kilwins and am tempted to come in for a treat thanks to the delicious smell of waffle cones being baked… Unfortunately most of the time the line is out the door and thus I usually leave empty-handed. Luckily we were in the area last night after dinner and the line was at a reasonable level, that topped with the fact that it was both my sister’s and her boyfriend’s birthday meant it really was meant to be. The whole shop is very cute and smells delicious. You can get pretty much any kind of sweet treat here ranging from packaged candy to scoops of ice cream for a pretty decent price. I got the toasted coconut and my MASSIVE scoop(it actually looked like two) and waffle cone was $ 5. It was definately more than enough to share! Service was also top-notch, and sampling is always welcome(at least on the ice cream)! When you’re in down definately stop in! It’s worth the extra calories!

Candy apples, chocolate fudge, ice cream, all made fresh. Simply amazing and THEAROMA! Oh, that sweet aroma.

The prices are exorbitant. But then the ice cream was so phenomenal I somehow suddenly didn’t mind having raked over $ 12 for(2) single-scoop ice cream cones. What can I say? That’s some pretty good ice cream. Located in historical downtown Wilmington right on the river, so the location is beyond charming.

The first time I went to Wilmington, I saw this crazy line that went down the street. I finally came in to see what the hype was all about. This is a great place with delicious ice cream. I got to try various flavors such as blueberry waffle, praline pecan, georgia peach, the perfect apple pie, and more. The wonderful thing about their ice cream is that the flavor is extremely accurate. My boyfriend went back for more of the perfect apple pie, haha. I would recommend coming here and trying it out. They also have various candy apples, chocolates, covered marshmallows, and more. The people are also extremely friendly here.

The smell of the fresh waffle cones escaping from the confinements of this shop should be illegal — as well as the $ 5.00 price per ice cream cone. Though it may have been the best cone I’ve had and the ice cream was decent — it wasn’t the best and it wasn’t worth the money!

So I’ve only been to the Kilwin’s in Annapolis, MD and this location doesn’t compare! Their caramel popcorn is more like caramel popcorn brittle. It’s huge clusters of popcorn so it’s very hard and messy to eat. I’m being picky here but I prefer the Annapolis location

It was One Tree Hill convention weekend, so it was quite crowded. The line was out the door on the sidewalk and the wait was about 20 minutes. They have fudge, chocolates, ice cream, among other sweets. I sampled the Georgia peach and it was delish! It had real slices of peach in it. I decided on a waffle cone with half toasted coconut and half Georgia peach, and both were so, so delicious. I walked around downtown eating it, and everyone else was either eating ice cream from Kilwins too or they were asking where I got it. If you live here, lucky you! If you are visiting, you must stop in, even if there is a wait.

You can smell the yummy waffle cones as you walk up to the storefront. This is a sweet tooth’s paradise. Many interesting flavors of ice cream and chocolates and candies galore. I got the key lime pie and the Georgia peach – both were very good.

Ice cream, chocolate heaven. Haven’t had a waffle cone in a long time, and wasn’t disappointed.

If the sign advertising Ice Cream and Candy doesn’t draw you in on a bright summer day then the scent of freshly baked waffle cones surely will. Taffy, Taffy saltwater taffy to rival Atlantic City. This place makes me think of Brokeback Mountain. Every time I’m in town I say«I wish I could quit you» but I can’t so I pack on another pound and try to walk it off on the riverwalk.

First let me preface this review by saying that I worked here for almost three years while in high school. The smell of sugar and waffle cones lingers in the street, luring customers into the well-lit candy shop. During the summer and local downtown events there is constant line for ice cream, be prepared to wait. Kilwins is actually a franchise started in Michigan with many locations throughout the US. This location recently expanded its sugar kingdom into the adjoining store next door. My guilty pleasures here are the toffee crunch, caramel rods, and marshmallow caramel puffs. What makes this place special is that about half of the products like the fudge, waffle cones, caramel, and hand dipped treats are all made in store. Pro tip: during the off-season ask when products have been made to guarantee freshness.

We came here on vacation this summer. Boy, you walk into this place and the aromas are overwhelming. So much good stuff. I was immediately drawn to the fudge case. I think it was buy two massive blocks, get a third free. Well, they talked me into it and I got a bunch. Really great quality! It did not last the week, every time I went back to the box, it seemed someone else took some. Now, the ice cream. Lots of flavors. Creamy. Flavorful. Yum. Also, they have some really nice gifts to take back to family at home. Our families loved the salted caramel chocolates box. Overall the desserts were to die for, but the prices would also give you a heart attack which is why I gave it 4 stars. I totally want to give this place more stars but its pricey!

I have to go with most of the other Unilocalers, the smell alone will draw you into the building. The fresh cones and ice cream make you want to camp out outside until they open in the morning. Seriously. So, I am just a basic chocolate on a cake cone person, but it was delicious. Pure deliciousness. I also think this is the perfect ice cream date night walk to spot for anyone in the area. Its a must go for visitors. I can not attest to the candy side, but it all was nicely presented and packaged well for sale. I had eyes straight for an after dinner cone. I highly recommend this place! Also a tip, get a cone and walk down to the river(less than a block away). Plenty of benches and the view is beautiful.

Do not go to Wilmington and not visit this place! The smell alone down the street is self-explanatory! Every time we go to Wilmington I make it a point to stand in line to grab a fresh made cone and their amazing ice cream! You just may hurt my feelings if you don’t go!!! I’ll be the chick walking down the street with it all over my clothes and face because it’s that good!!!

Middle of the road candy shop. Tried Kilwins on account of all the rave reviews and was expecting to be amazed. Have to admit, I have been to much better candy shops/chocolatiers. The ice cream selection of flavors was not unique or particularly interesting. Definitely seemed to be more a candy shop with standard ice cream and good cones as opposed a true ice cream and candy shop. I understand flavors do usually rotate but nothing I saw even seemed remotely adventurous– both cases were all full of the usual suspects– chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and mint choc. chip, pistachio, coconut and some other standard flavors rounded out the rest of the pack. Other places in town seem to take more care and pride into selecting what flavors they will have and also taste better. The chocolate selection on the other side of the shop was pretty standard as well. They have a limited selection of truffles, pretty much all in both in milk and dark chocolate. White chocolate seemed to be more limited, if that is your thing, along with some other assorted candies and the typical sweets you would expect to find. The caramels and chocolates and other items I got were all tasty(dark. choc. pb cup, orange peels, some tree bark and some caramel– along with the ice cream), but they all should be, this is a chocolate shop we are talking about. Everything was good and prices were reasonable, just none of the items were not out of this world. Surprised people like this place so much as it really just seemed average to me, all the way around.

You can smell the enticing allure of sugary waffle cones a block away… which is exactly how I found myself with a bowl filled with two scoops of ice cream 15 minutes later. It is in a great location in downtown Wilmington off of the Riverwalk. It’s a great treat during the humid summer nights. The way they present their treats reminds me of that great early scene in the original Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. Candy is everywhere, fudge fills the glass cases, and an assortment of ice cream at the end of the counter. Who can resist?! I’ll take two and out the door I left…

Can you smell it ? Of course you can. It’s the first smell you will get when you arrive downtown, it feels like the mark of the dock. Their homemade waffles are so good. Like a lot of places, they have far too many choices to make it difficult to decide what you want to take. Do I try something new or just pick a previous one I love ? Difficult to keep track :) The chocolate and candies are really good too, but be ready to make the queue during week end because it never stops !

SARASAY’S: The only thing that sucks about this place is deciding whether you want ice cream or something from the chocolate/fudge case… eh why decide, get both! There is no way you are walking past this place with the smell of home made waffle cones permeating the air, which they make right in front of the window. This visit I opted for a caramel apple and chocolate covered pretzels. I hadn’t had one in years! She even cut it for me so it was easy to eat while we walked around. If you have a sweat tooth in Wilmington, there is no where else to get your fix then here! Just be prepared on a nice night to wait in line.

On my one and only trip to this place I ordered: 1 peanut butter cup 2 white chocolate covered nutter butters 4 white chocolate covered oreos 1 chocolate/nut covered rice krispies treat on a stick 1 chocolate/nut covered marshmallows on a stick And I was THIS close [imagine two fingers an inch apart] from getting ice cream. I only gave away one oreo. The rest I ate. So yes… I enjoyed it.
