Wilmington gets hot. Way too hot for this native Northerner. I swear my IQ drops a ton once it hits 90 each year. And my usually hefty appetite drops, too. My summer diet tends to be popsicles and salad. Thanks to Pelican’s I can add snowballs as a third«food group». I’ve been reading about this place for a while and drive past it semi-regularly and a month or so ago decided to stop in. I was amazed and overwhelmed by the sheer number of flavors so I decided to be a tiny bit more«natural» and get a dye-free flavor. I love that that’s an option. Granted there’s still all sorts of artificial flavor, but at least it was lacking in artificial color. I also love that they use cane sugar. The Piña colada was delicious and refreshing. Then I went yesterday. I asked the guy working what his favorite was and he had to think for a moment, but his recommendation of GA Peach and lemonade was great. So great that I had to go back today. When I think snowball I tend to think of fruity flavors, but I tried the Wedding Cake today and it was awesome. I may sound like a snob but I’m a pretty healthy eater by nature and I will say I wish there were some flavors that weren’t artificial. But clearly that hasn’t stopped me from going. Also, while I think their prices are very reasonable for a treat(cheaper than ice cream or sorbet for sure!) I also know that ice and artificial syrup is pretty low-cost. Their service has been *great*. In reviews I’ve read people always mention that and it’s really true. It’s nice to be greeted with a smile, even when Pelican’s is totally mobbed. The employees never seem to lose their cool or their great attitude and are able to keep organized so customers can be served quickly. I know I’ll be back many times this summer when popsicles and salad get boring

This place is amazing! A great place to go with friends, kids, or both! They light tiki torches to combat the mesquitos, great pricing and more flavors than you could try. A must-have if visiting :)

First visit. I didn’t know what to expect so I had the LemonLime and my girlfriend had the Dreamsicle. Both were terrific, as we sat in the parking lot eating them. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Just to clarify, 4 stars for me means«Excellent.» It takes a lot for me to give that fifth star, so please don’t think it negative for missing a fifth star. As I was grocery shopping later I found myself thinking about those wonderful Sno-Balls. I mentioned this to my girlfriend and she laughed and admitted she was thinking about them also. Two dollars of YUM! We will be back — a lot!

We are so happy to have found this little gem in Wilmington! We’ve been three times and this is our new go to family treat spot! All of the young guys that work at Pelican’s are friendly and really good with the kids, while keeping service fast, smooth and efficient. They have over 100 flavors, which leads to countless creations, they have some great combos for kids already created; Shrek, Spongebob, Spider-Man, Gone Fishin and a few more. We have a son who is sensitive to refined sugars and food coloring, they have a handful of clear flavors that are kid friendly and they are made with pure cane sugar! Prices are reasonable and they have plenty of benches built outside so you cave enjoy these delicious treats!
