Stopped by for drinks after iceskating at the riverfront location. Their speciality martinis selection was great and both me and my boyfriend were very happy with our drinks. We split the«Manhattan truffle» for desert. Service was slow, but the bartender(we were sitting at the bar) was incredibly nice and very sharp. We will def. be back!

Monday night is the only time I would ever go for Buy 1 get 1. Sushi isn’t that great service is ok. Décor is nice and great location but definitely could Be better.

Good food. Not so great service. Two waiters took our drink orders before we got our drinks 30 minutes later. Our food eventually came and it was great. I had the sushi deluxe plate. It was so great I ordered 2 more pieces after I finished.

I had one of the worst experiences ever at kooma. I’m not sure if it was my waiters first day or if that’s an everyday experience but either way it was almost unbelievably bad. The two stars are solely for the purpose that they allowed me to modify a roll to my liking. To start, I joined a party who was already seated about 10 mins after they arrived. the waiter came over pretty fast and I ordered a water while I waited. Well fast forward to 20 mins later after the appetizers were gone and I still hadn’t received my water. My sister in law and I ordered two sushi Rolls, I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and my sister in law ordered a cucumber roll separately. For some reason the rolls were brought out on the same plate! My sister is a vegetarian and also does not eat seafood so she politely inquired why they were on the same plate and the waiter then went to plate them separately. My brother ordered the general tsos chicken which was alright but very fatty and tasted almost identical to the general tsos you would get from a Chinese take out spot. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and almost gagged once I tried the sauce. It was absolutely horrible very thin and bland but somehow managed to have an old yet sweet taste to it. The chicken was dry and room temperature although I’m assuming the waiter brought it out right away. Let me also add that throughout our meal the waiter NEVER came and checked on us and in fact he never once asked us how anything was or I most certainly would’ve expressed my displeasure. Needless to say I will never go back and I’m still a bit angry that I spent $ 45 on food that was a comparable to a Chinese buffet maybe even a grade worst.

We have been repeat customers for a longtime and it is normally a 5 star experience but we went here tonight for my moms birthday and the food was lackluster and her drink was made incorrectly. I had a lot higher expectations for a meal that costs almost $ 200 after tip.

Good spot in a cute little area but seemed pretty dead for a Saturday night at 9PM. The Sushi was good and the Kooma Spicy noodles not bad, kinda remind me of Drunken Thai noodles. The Server was really nice and was new to the business but helped us out through the night. The food came out separate. In other words there were 20 people in the restaurant and two sushi chefs and my noodles came out in 5 minutes and the sushi came out in 20 minutes. It was awkward finishing my meal before my fiancé was even served and then watching her eat as I sat with an empty plate.

Good sushi! Specialty rolls are yummy — i like their alli roll, west chester roll, wilmington roll. Id stick to sushi though at this place. They have a pan asian menu and their korean dishes arent very good i thought.

The chefs at this restaurant obviously care about their work as told by the intricate details they put on their dishes. Josh is the best waiter there and is extremely personable and a pleasure to work with. Although a little on the pricey side, we absolutely love coming here– the vibe is great too!

Found this place via Unilocal and decided to try it. Mikimoto’s is always our first choice for sushi, but we ordered the Lotus roll(Hairy Mexican equivalent) and two other rolls and calamari. Everything was great! Eric was our server and his customer service was great! 4 stars!

Went here on «date night» tonight. Upon entry, we got sat immediately in the very small dining room. I’m not sure if there’s more to the restaurant, but from what I saw, the dining room is small with little space between each table. The décor is very chic and modern, the seats are comfortable, and the general atmosphere is really nice. Our server never introduced herself, but was very sweet and attentive the whole time we sat — I didn’t have to go out of my way to look for her once. My date and I both got drinks, I got the French Fantasy & he got the Nerd, both martinis. They were excellent and I had two because it was so yummy, and at only $ 10 it was the cheapest drink I’ve bought in a while. Onto the food, my date got the shrimp shaimu(sp?) appetizer, and I ordered the edamame. The broth that the dumpling-like shrimp appetizer was served in was amazing and the dumpling was perfectly cooked, delicious. As far as the edamame goes, it’s pretty hard to mess up. It was a little undercooked for my taste, but it’s beans. So really. For the entrees, I searched their sushi menu tirelessly for a specialty roll featuring more than one type of fish to no avail. Even their rainbow roll was a California roll. Disappointed, I ordered the sushi deluxe dinner which was 8 pieces of sushi(at random) and one tuna roll for $ 25. A little annoyed I didn’t get any say in what type of sushi I was getting, but I find this is not uncommon, and I’m happy with the price and everything thus far, so I let it go. My date ordered a deep-fried Cali roll and the Fish Katsu, both of which were very good, and the sauce that came with the Fish Katsu was delicious. My sushi comes and when I start to eat it(using chopsticks), it begins to fall apart. The rice was not sticking to the sushi, and I ended up having to the fish /rice separately. The seaweed was not sticking together and keeping the tuna together, either. The fish tasted fresh enough and their soy sauce is so good I would probably buy a bottle of it if they sold it, but the presentation and the fact that my dish was falling apart was pretty disappointing. Finally, we both ordered dessert. I’m not a big fan of ice cream, which is almost the entirety of their dessert menu, so I ordered the«chocolate kamikaze,» which is a three-level chocolate frosted chocolate cake. My boyfriend had decided on the White Goddess early on into dinner, which is a raspberry sorbet covered in a white chocolate casing. Both were delicious. Our bill was a little on the high side, but with drinks and three courses, it wasn’t outrageous. The food was good, the service was better and the drinks were the best. If they could just get that sushi to stay together, and maybe widen the options on their sushi menu, I would give them five stars.

Good is always great here with great ranges. Service was very nice, but several dishes took entirely to come out unfortunately. Thankfully they at least gave us some free drinks and appetizers. Overall always s great experience here.

I absolutely love this place! They have a giant menu with reasonably priced items and great specials. Try the buy one get one free roll on Monday nights when you buy a drink with dinner. Their rolls are fresh and sushi chefs are definitely great conversationalists. We were from out of town and they even helped us find Hotspots in the area to visit. By far an amazing job.

My family and i loved the West Chester location so we wanted to try this location. It was more laid back here. The food was delicious just like the other location. Our server was excellent. She was attentive and very sweet. The happy hour specials were good with 30% off appetizers. We were able to majority fill up from the appetizers. We still order our entrees. My stepdaughter is very picky but she loved the spicy chicken lettuce wraps and the hibachi chicken. My brother in law is huge on general tso chicken but he did nit like it here. He eats everything but he did not finish this dish. This was the disappointment we had. Our overall experience was great. Needless to say, we will be back.

My sisters and I met here for dinner and as usual the food was awesome! The spicy scallop rolls were really good. Drinks were delicious. Our waiter Josh was very good too. Great food and atmosphere!

Got salmon teriyaki. Asked for it to be cooked medium. It came out seared, as in rare on the inside. I asked the waiter to take it back and Cooke it a little more. He was polite in taking it back but it then came out totally burned on both sides. At that point I gave up. The salmon also had some scale. The cooking and preparation of food is lacking here.

Staff is super nice so I feel bad giving this a two but the food just wasn’t good. My friend got the Salmon teriyaki and asked for the salmon to be cooked medium rare. When the food came and she cut into the salmon it looked like seared salmon. Looked pretty rare so she asked the waiter. He apologized and took it back. When he brought back the salmon it looked burnt. I got the pad thai and it tasted sugary. I think if it was just a little less sticky it might have been OK. The shrimp and chicken were overcooked as well. Salmon teriyaki was 22 and my pad Thai was 15. Not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are other restaurants by the riverfront that are way better. If you want Asian fusion food like this place I’d recommend mikimoto which is in downtown Wilmington as well.

I have always been a fan of Kooma in West Chester, PA(even though this one has gone down hill a bit), so I figured this place would be equivalent. It is not! I am not sure why. This atmosphere is neat and it seems like it is set up for a night club at night. The sushi is never as fresh as the place in West Chester and it is a bit on the pricey side compared to other places for sushi in Wilmington.

There tonight for the first time 7−17−14, and the junk behind the bar on the shelves was not an attractive site. My teen age boys keep their rooms cleaner than that. A mop bucket at the end if the bar was unsightly as well., only 9:00 pm, a little early for pre closing duties! The bartender was friendly and helpful, explaining the restaurants daily happenings! I expected more from a place downtown/river front! It was stark inside and had no personality. To faux trendy and didn’t pull it off. Bartender had a great smile! To bad we won’t be back, nothing felt right about this place other than the bartender. She was nice!

*sigh* it is just not like it use to be. *sign again*. The service is still stellar with the wait staff being super friendly and genuinely kind. The rolls are just OK. Changes in the menu over the years has led to many rolls being jam packed with spicy mayo. Lots of spicy mayo. Where this use to be my favorite place to go to for martinis, this has also slipped. Not for their lack of trying… but they are trying TOOHARD. The last 3 martinis I have gotten(the last one as recent as 02÷13÷14) are so heavy handed with the alcohol that it is not an enjoyable treat. We will be back in the summer months to try again with high hopes of a great comeback for this sushi place.

Get their cooked dishes. I got the Kooma noodles and my friend the bibimbop and we loved our entrees! Neither were strictly Japanese or strictly authentic but the flavors were good! Portions were nice and big. Stay away from the sushi rolls especially the specialty ones as it cost you the same as the an entrée but the rolls are tiny(only 6 pieces)! They’ll be gone in like a second and you would still be hungry. There’s better sushi in Delaware. Try Bamboo House for that. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the décor was nice. Only wish there was a better non-alcoholic drink selection(bubble tea or thai iced tea or chilled jasmine green tea?). I didn’t try cocktails maybe next time I will. I will definitely be back to try more entrees!
