Best Phở I’ve ever had. Less than a week passed before I went back for more! On my first visit I just went with a simple beef Phở, it was so flavorful and the portion was perfect. On my second visit I went with two of their specials, Mexicali Phở and crab won tons! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I’ll definitely make this place a weekly excursion!

My husband and I went to Phun for lunch today. The last time we were there was about a year ago. They had issues being open during scheduled hours so we became temporarily fed up. Our service today was great but their lunch prices are a little high. $ 8 for wet bun. That’s veg, broth and rice noodles. What really got me was $ 3.50 «herbal tea». It was served to me in its package next to a styrofoam cup of warm water. Never mind the styrofoam cup but the bag of tea was walmart brand and they charge $ 3.50. I didn’t find that out until I got the bill. $ 32 for lunch and all we had was veg soup, tea and kimchee dumplings. A little excessive I would say. I probably won’t go back. There are several other better restaurants downtown that serve lunch for two for under $ 20. Also, Phun is advertised as a seafood bar/Asian tapas. There are only 4 seafood dishes(flounder, tilapia, shrimp) and no tapas.

I have eaten noodle bowls almost all over the world. Korea, London, NYC, Turkey, Peru, and many other places. The pork belly noodle bowl, the Hong Kong, is definitely in my top three! Only Korea has topped this one. The broth is wonderfully savory, the vegetables perfectly cooked, the noodles exquisite. The addition of pork wontons simply puts it over the top! Your life isn’t complete until you’ve tried this! Trust me please. Eryn, our server, was super friendly and knowledgeable. As a server myself, I certainly appreciate all she does to enhance the dining experience. Kudos!

Stopped in here for a late lunch and was super pleased with this tiny spot and it’s great prices for superb flavor and food. If you like traditional Asian street foods(think Phở and bun) you’ll be pleased with the menu options here. Little more than a bar and a handful of hightop tables, this nook is focused on Asian foods with a number of options that are meant to be made to order, according to your preference. Most of the bowls, for example, can be made as both a soup(Phở) or a stir-fry. On my visit in, there was a pork belly bun appetizer special and a full regular menu. The bun contained 2 pieces with a couple sides of sauce served in spoons. The bun was quite soft and moist, but would have been better had it come to the stable a little warmer. But the flavors inside were all spot-on. Tangy, rich pork belly with crunch picked vegetables. Loved the contrast with the softness of the bun. For the main, I went with the«Hong Kong Style» noodle bowl. It was huge and is more than enough of a portion for lunch, all on it own. All very tasty, including the base broth, with two large pork wontons down in the bottom. A bit messy and counterintuitive to place a fried wonton in a very heady broth, but it was lip-smacking good. I quite enjoyed the broth melting its way into the skin of the wonton. Careful, though, if left too long I could see this easily becoming a goopy mess. The other strips of pork belly were good in their own right, though I did strip the fat off a couple pieces. That’s for flavoring, though, right?! All in all, this was very good and a nice lunch diversion from typical Southern-style food. I’d gladly return and explore this menu more completely. The Phun here is clearly in the Phở!

I think I need to eat here more than once to fairly review this place. I liked the concept, everything on the menu caught my eye, and yet when I ordered the wet bun bowl I wasn’t overly excited. The large pieces of pork belly were awkward to eat with a spoon. The broth itself was oily, and had a very unique flavoring, one flavor stood out far too much to the others. Our waitress provided great service and the atmosphere is cozy. I will try a different entrée on my next visit!

u have to get the pork belly sliders, i don’t believe they are on the menu, so u have to check if they it on hand. amazing. i went with a group of 6, they all loved them –even those disgusted with the idea! huge success. just beware, not much seating, u have one worker for whole place, and they were out of alot of drink and food items. don’t make me regret suggesting the pork belly, i don’t want them to be out next time i am there!

I’ve dined in here twice and had take out twice. All four meals were terrific. No complaints from this picky eater.

We tried to go there a couple of times and they were closed. The first time we actually went the bartender was only interested in the single female customers at the bar. There was a loud group and the place is very small, so we couldn’t have a conversation. Second time was better. Third time was takeout. Food was always very good. Eating their food at home is better than eating it there. I want to love it, but I only like it.

I love it! The wet noodle bowls are to die for. I eat there 2x’s a week. I recommend the Duck or Hongkong Phở bowls. BUT they need to work on getting the food out quicker. Maybe prepping more before lunch? Anything to turn tables. It can take 20 – 45 minutes to eat depending on when you show up. Also, they need to get iced tea, or even better iced green tea(then they don’t need seperate sweet-tea pitcher).

Interesting concept. Avant-garde for this neck of the woods, I suppose. The crispy pork belly bun appetizer was scrumptious. The phở noodle bowl was decent, decked out in an over-sized fried rice cracker. The duck bánh mì(vietnamese sandwich) was ok, a little too much sauce that overwhelmed the sandwich, and not enough local greens(pickled carrots, radish, cilantro, sprouts). The quality of the french bread definitely needed some work. Overall, the service was nice and friendly, the chef innovative(pick up one of those awesome postcards with a graphic design of him), and the décor«phun»!

I tried to go to Phun tonight, but they were closed, 40 minutes early on a FRIDAY night! All the lights were on and there were employees inside the restaurant. They all saw me try to open the door and they all turned their backs. They could have easily said, sorry we are closed. I was looking forward to trying their phở. Maybe next time.

The duck & noodle bowl was awesome. Totally hit the spot. This is a small space. 3 – 4 tables and then a diner-esque bar. Great place to grab lunch. If I lived in Wilmington, this would be my go-to lunch spot.

Awesome little seafood bar. The staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. I’ve been here a few times and every time I’ve gotten something different and it is all very good. Top notch restaurant. Highly recommended for something a little different downtown.

The chef at Phun creates delicious meals. The fish I had was perfectly cooked. I highly recommend Phun to friends looking for something special off the beaten path.

One of the best places to eat in Wilmington. The chef is top notch and provides incredible service. Fresh, local ingredients always taste incredible as they look on each plate.

I would go 2.5 if I could. Our first visit was excellent — great lobster roll and delicious soft shell crab bento box. We went for our second visit tonight, and it was disappointing. Since I love Catch so much, I really *want* to love Phun — and I definitely want it to succeed — so I’m sad that it was just«meh.» A general problem for me is that there are very few vegetarian options — two, if you don’t eat fish/shrimp(+2 if you do). BBQ tofu IS on the menu as a protein for the yaki soba or bento box, but I ordered it on the yaki soba and it was deep fried, not BBQ. I was expecting some tasty fusion BBQ sauce :-(I’m not sure if it’s always fried and the menu is inaccurate, or if that was just tonight. The yaki soba was also extremely salty(almost to the point of inedibility). However, my date’s fried tilapia bento box(they were out of flounder) was very good — the curry sauce with it is terrific. And the curry puff appetizer specialty was also scrumptious. It also seemed way understaffed tonight — one server for the whole place on a Friday night. I hope they can work out these kinks, because Phun has so much promise as a new downtown restaurant!

3 ½ stars. I love the noodle bowls at Phun. I’ve tried them with beef brisket, pork belly and duck; the duck noodle bowl is probably my favorite. The five spice duck broth is clean and flavorful, and the bowl comes with a big piece of boneless duck leg. The pork belly buns are also good, reminiscent of the pork belly buns at Momofuku. I, however, wasn’t impressed with the Vietnamese chicken salad. It was drenched in dressing that is too salty, and served on a plate that’s way too small, making it very awkward to eat. There’s also not a lot of food to fill me up for the price that I paid. Also, $ 2 for a can of coke seems excessive.

My mom brought me here today and I cannot wait to go back and bring my husband! The staff and chef were very friendly and seem to genuinely care about a customer’s satisfaction and experience. Everything smelled excellent, the décor is tasteful, the ingredients are fresh and high quality, and most importany– my meal was delicious! I’ll be back soon!
