Pretty cool with lots of character restaurant. Service was kinda slow and it was hard to get a refill on any of our drinks but the food was really good. I am not a big fan of traditional wings but I really enjoyed theirs. Shrimp was good; did not have any old bay on them but I think you have to ask for that. Girlfriend got the crab legs and she said they were pretty good. Seemed like a good selection of beer and some great beer specials. Not a place to bring a ton of people tho, very limited seating

This is one of my favorite new places! I would come back to Wilmington just for the Steampot at the Shuckin’ Shack! We had the raw oysters and they were some of the best I have had. The atmosphere is small and rustic which we love. Excellent beer and the waitress was outstanding. I wish we had something like this in Chicago! Parking is the only issue. There is a lot right next door that cost $ 5 for the day. They only took cash at the parking meter. There is a second option that was free for the first hour, but $ 8 every hour after.

Followed others reviewers and decided here. Food was only ok! They didn’t hand us a drink menu not even after asking where they had one so we just went ahead and ordered two mojitos not knowing they were $ 10 a piece!!! Not to mention they were tasteless watered down nastiness. You live and you learn!

We had the Saul T’s Steampot. It definitely has plenty of food for two. The oysters, crab legs and corn were great, but I’ve had much better clams and shrimp. Very nice staff and casual fun atmosphere. Great drinks. We would love to go again.

This my go to spot for seafood and wings. I love the food here, service is always hit or miss but you can’t beat the specials. Met my mom here Monday afternoon for drinks and we were both really disappointed in the bathroom signage. I strongly believe that any business with single occupancy bathrooms should not be gender specific. These signs are large and say Men Only and Women Only. I refuse to support businesses that encourage the hateful discriminatory rhetoric of HB2. A bathroom is a bathroom and I wont be back anytime soon.

Really great place. I fell in love with the CB location for their Clam Wednesdays(.35cent clams and $ 2 drafts). Now they have a downtown location which is perfect! The clams are now .45cents each and the drafts are still $ 2 on Wednesdays! It’s small, so a table might not always be available, but make some friends at the bar and hang out because it’s worth it! Ask for Robin — she’s a great bartender!

Visited the Shuckin’ Shack for the first time during a busy lunch hour. The restaurant is small and has a lot of character. Id say this is one of the better casual coastal seafood places I have been to in the area. Price was very reasonable, portion sizes were generous, and the food was excellent. I am a little bit of a hot sauce junkie and was very pleased to see a selection of about 10 different sauces on each table. I will definitely be back!

My husband and I got the steamed bucket. We LOVED the food. Definitely try the shark attack bloody Mary’s. They are to die for. Our landlord recommended we try this out on a weekend marriage retreat we went on. Coming from Maryland and knowing good seafood, this place is definitely a place to put on your to do list.

While I was in town with a friend, we hit up Shuckin’ Shack for dinner, and I’m so glad we did. The space is small, but on a Saturday night we were seated almost immediately at the bar(that said, I wouldn’t recommend this place for a group, because looking around at the limited seating, I doubt they’d be able to accommodate). I didn’t have the highest expectations: the main room is somewhat small, dark, and old-looking, with a weird sports bar meets kitchsy-theme vibe. The menu is pretty limited but you should definitely be shopping from the fresh seafood market prices on the wall anyway. Our server was super cool, checked in regularly but didn’t hover, and made sure our waters were always full. I got steamed oysters and my friend got raw, and both were excellent. The steamed oysters were perfectly well done and both steamed and fresh oysters were a pretty good size. The hush puppies were excellent. My friend said the shrimp were good as well. The people next to us got the mixed seafood buckets, and we were definitely eyeing those up while we waited for our food; I might be going for those next time. If I had any issue with this place it would be the cocktails — the Bloody Mary/Shark Attack looks pretty but was pretty plain tasting, and the Painkiller was WAY too sweet for me. That said, they weren’t bad, just not up to the standards of the food. The fresh seafood is definitely worth the price, and the Shuckin’ Shack definitely worth a visit if you’re in town. I know I’ll be back the next time I’m in Wilmington!

I’m a huge fan of this location – the seafood is excellent, and it’s a great vibe in the middle of downtown Wilmington. I’ve had almost everything on the menu(still need to give the wings a try), and enjoyed it all. The crab is some of the better I’ve had in the area, and the drinks are a great variety of beach type drinks that aren’t overly sweet. I only ding it a star for the seating – the lay out is pretty funky, and we’ve had to go elsewhere a few times when coming in with more than 2 people.

Small seafood and bar in Wilmington. Service was good. Oyster po boy was ok. Nothing to write home about. Fried pickles were ok as well. Calamari good but too much batter. Calamari lost in the batter.

Wanted seafood that was steamed but not overcooked, they did not disappoint. We arrived early to avoid a long wait and started with 1lb of crab legs to share. We then had a lobster roll and cold boiled shrimp. Both were cooked perfectly.

My wife and I were in Wilmington for an evening, got the hankerin’ for some seafood, and stepped in here. The first impression isn’t shining: Shuckin’ Shack is small, a little smelly, and a tad grungy. We stuck with it, though, got seated at the bar and settled in for what felt like a really authentic experience. I ordered the Oyster basket and the wife ordered a Crab Cake sliders. My portion was perfect… enough food without making me feel gross.(Side note: The oysters were AMAZING. Perfect fried oysters.) There were only two crab cake sliders, which felt a bit shy of a good sized portion. They were tasty, but not overly generous. The prices are moderate and the environment is high paced. We enjoyed it and I’m sure you will too.

My go to for raw oysters in town is Dock Street, but I had heard good reviews about this place so I gave it a shot. I was SO disappointed! The oysters were so small that some of the half shells looked like the oyster was eaten already and just that little nub was left. Some, as in more than one! I totally understand that some varieties of oysters are smaller than others but wow, talk about not getting your money’s worth. If the name of the restaurants implies great shellfish… then at least represent. Especially during oyster season! It would have been fine, and good business, if they had said: «hey, the batch we got was a little on the small side so we gave you a few extra to make up for that.» But no. You paid for a dozen, you’re getting a dozen. Half shells. Oysters not guaranteed. Bad first impressions can really leave a sour taste in your mouth. To be fair, I may give this place another shot just to see if it was a fluke but I’ll definitely be taking a gander at other ppl’s raw oyster orders first before wasting more money.

Almost every time we come to Wilmington we end up here to get our seafood fix. It is just that good. The restaurant is pretty small but we have never been during peak eating hours so we have never experienced a wait. I love that they have all sorts of seafood by the half pound and pound. This last visit I decided to order the half pound of crab legs and a side salad with grilled shrimp. I also got adventurous and tried the Bloody Bivalve which is basically a Bloody Mary shot with a raw oyster in it. The shot was delicious and I like the idea of Bloody Mary shots in general but the oyster in the shot was a bit strange. I think maybe the oyster was meant to be in its shell on top of the shot? Everything that came out was delicious and more than enough for a meal and I am sure I will return!

It’s been 2 years, and I came back to this place because I thought they had great oysters and they were fresh. I can definitely say that when I came here this time, no fly were present in the restaurant. The décor mostly stayed the same as well as the food. This time we ordered some crab balls, a sampler(cold), and another dozen half shelled oysters. What has changed? Absolutely nothing. The food still came out great. The flies weren’t so bothersome this time around, however they were still there. I just didn’t see as many. It’s worth to check this place out if you’re in the search for some Oysters!

Holy hell this place makes some of the best oyster shooters and bloody Mary’s I’ve had anywhere in the world. They’ve taken that nectar of the hair of the dog that bit you to an entirely new level. Oh and their food is delicious too!

Disclosure: I am not the biggest fan of seafood. However, I went with a group of friends that are. Overall, we were not impressed with Shuckin’ Shack at all. We all tried an array of menu items and specials, none of which were all that great. Furthermore, it didn’t taste as fresh as I’d expect from a place so close to the beach. On top of that, the service was exceptionally slow. It took over an hour for us to order and receive our food. The waitress didn’t come over much, even though we were clearly ready to order and get our checks at the end. Definitely won’t be going back.

Downtown seafood steamers and brews Ambiance: casual beachy seafood joint. Only a few actual tables for seating and several spots at the bar. Expect to wait if you have a larger party Service: friendly, but painfully slow. Really the major downfall to our last dining experience. Our table really needed a bucket for shells, cocktail sauce, and drink refills but there were only two servers(including the bar) Bar: decent selection of beer and wine. Also clam shooters, try them if you dare! Very good Food: Daily specials available oysters/mussels/crab listed on the wall behind the bar These people know how to steam seafood. Perfectly cooked –the steampot — $ 50 feeds the table, or just yourself… 1 lb of crab legs, shrimp, mussels, and oysters all steamed up and served in the giant bucket. Challenge accepted. Where’s my bib? –oysters on the half shell — YUM! So fresh and so good. Served with horseradish and saltines –French fries — okay, I know, everyone has french fries… But these guys were so fresh and seasoned perfectly that they deserved the shout out Overall the food was great, service mediocre. Definitely will keep them in mind for those seafood cravings

Don’t get me wrong, the food here was fine(I’d give it 3.5÷5). It was nothing spectacular but cooked well and had nice flavor — I had a lobster roll with cole slaw and fries. If the lobster is fresh, it doesn’t need a lot of extra flavor. This was layered with a lot of extra flavor to mask the fact that it was not super fresh. Regardless, I give it such a low score because the service was terrible. I went in with my boyfriend during lunch on a Saturday — packed. The place was clearly understaffed — only two people for easily 50 guests. The girls behind the counter were friendly and I credit them for that — one was super sweet, and sweaty bc she was working hard. What bothered me wasn’t the nearly 2 hours it took to order and eat a sandwich or that the waitress forgot to take our order. What rubbed me the wrong way was that she lied. There was a $ 5 special for some vodka drink that used Cruzan. When I ordered it, the waitress said she couldn’t make it bc they were out of that vodka. Okay fine — just water then. About an hour later a new waitress showed up and took the order of the lady next to me — who ordered the same drink. Low and behold there was vodka but a new bottle had to be opened. The waitress commented that she loved this drink special but it is a tedious drink to make. No wonder«they were out.» Maybe there wasn’t time to open a new bottle that was directly next to the bar, but all the waitress had to say to me was, «it might take me a few extra minutes to make it» and I happily would have waited or said, «no worries you’re busy.» I’m totally reasonable if people are honest. I’m not sure I’ll ever return just on that principle.
