The vanilla cakes, particularly the triangular one, is great. The chocolate one is good. I had a very, very dry and stale tasting gingerbread cookie. The iced cookies and the butterscotch brownie are fair. If you need bread, buy the delicious snowflake rolls.

I’m sorry but they make the worst buttercream & strawberry filing cake. I’ve had better & this was not it. I ordered a cake here for a friend’s birthday this past weekend and it left everyone very disappointed. I also bought 2 canollis here as well. I am not sure how long they had it refrigerated or out, but it was so dry. And the filling was not good as well. I am not happy.

I grew up going to Sweeney’s in the 80’s when it was in the same shopping center, but on the other end. I remember the delicious Smiley face cookies with seasonal frosting. It was a real treat. However, as I’ve gotten older and traveled a bit –and have lived in other cities– I realized this bakery isn’t great. The cakes are EXTREMELY dry. The petit fours are too sweet. The doughnuts are good but have a shelf life of 2 hours. If you want something sweet, head inside. But I can tell you now… You’ll find better pastries in the Acme a few doors down. And if you’re up for a 2 minute drive, the pastries at the Safeway across the street.

Two words: Petit Fours! YUMMY! They’re so good, I wish they would put raspberry in the middle(like they way they were made when I was a kid). But they are still fantastic! I love that place, icecream and savories too, just go there!

Their baked goods are always fresh, there was a rough patch where their cakes got a little dry– but the issue resolved and they are back to they’re normal(good!) quality. Their cinnamon doughnuts are ridiculously delicious, as is their tomato pie. Another plus is that they are willing to work with you for unusual birthday cake requests if you give a couple of days notice.

Ordered a birthday cake for my Dad. It was a standard yellow cake with buttercream icing. Cake was dry. Although I will not order a cake from there, I will continue to go there for EVERYTHINGELSE. This will not deter me!

I came to Sweeney’s to order a birthday cake. I wanted regular frosting with my son’s age in fondant. The girl told me they don’t offer fondant. What kind of «bakery» doesn’t work with fondant? Then I asked if the«Happy Birthday» could be written diagonally across the cake. The girl said I can request it, but they normally write it across the cake — no guarantee that it will be written diagonally. At the end of order, she told me the cake will be served in an aluminum pan(the sides are not frosted). Wow! I have never seen a «bakery» serve cakes in a pan. I should have cancel the order and left at that point. But after spending 20 minutes to place the order, I didn’t want to deal with another bakery. The cake was AWEFUL! The presentation in the aluminum pan was amateurish at best. The cake was dry and icing was horrible. I was so embarrassed to serve the cake to my guests. I don’t understand all the hypes about Sweeney’s.

Heard so much about this place. Not all that. Cake was dry. Lemon filling was overpowering. Had better cakes at the Acme and Shoprite. I will stick with them.

Stopped in for better than supermarket sliced bread and found it at Sweeney’s. Interesting spot to get coffee, baked sweets, and ice cream. Sliced white bread — good, nice crumb, buttery and slightly sweet Éclair — very good, full of patisserie cream, nice chocolate glaze on top — would buy again Napoleon — not as good, too much white icing on top, not enough cream, commercial jam. One loaf, two eclairs, and two Napoleons for under $ 20.

Just discovered this place and so happy we did. So far had a delicious black Forrest birthday cake which was beautiful and delicious. Also had a glazed croissant which they recommended nuking for 20 sec and serving warm. They were right, to die for. Tonight stopped in for a late night snack. Got a tasty milkshake and a made on the spot ice cream cookie sand which. Amazing. New favorite place.

This is the best bakery in the area. The folks who are there are like family – to each other but also to their customers. I’ve been going to Sweeney’s for well over 5 years, and I’ve never had a bad experience. The pastries, cakes, bread, and ice cream are divine. My favorite, though, are their doughnuts. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself sometime. You won’t be disappointed.

Cookies, cakes and pies, oh my! Pretty much your standard bakery with all the staples plus an ice-cream section. The cakes are really divine. A family friend gets one for me every year for my birthday and I look forward to it so much that I begin a countdown the week of our family dinner. Prices seem about average. Actually, considering I can’t make things taste as good as they do, it’s a bargain.
