I have not been in this store since the remodel. Of course, that meant I couldn’t find anything, but no big deal it wasn’t crowded. The real reason I went was for the free coupon items they had offered in their ad — one of which was out of stock. Everything was fine until checkout. Only 3 lanes were open — 30 minutes waiting in line to checkout — that’s ridiculous. My husband went to customer service to ask nicely if there were any other cashiers in the store to help at the registers — he was completely ignored. Finally we are checked out at the speed of molasses. One of my coupons wouldn’t work. Cashier finally got someone to come«Blake» who read the fine print on the coupon which said I could only use 2 coupons at a time — this was fine, my error, I didn’t read the fine print. However, he talked to the cashier and completely ignored me like I was either trying to ripoff the store or incompetent. Very poor customer service skills. Talk to the customer we aren’t invisible. I won’t be back. I normally go to the new Wegmans and I will continue to go to that store. Way better selection of vegetables(regular and organic), breads, premade items, better prices, fast checkout with a smile.

I have been shopping in this store for years, and I have to say, since the remodel the store has gone drastically downhill. Items constantly out of stock, the produce is very poor quality and the rotisserie chickens are a disgrace. They should be embarrassed to sell such low quality items. I ordered cakes a few weeks ago and they were so stale you practically needed a chainsaw to cut through them. At this rate, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I love this grocery store. They have everything. They also have great prices. It’s clean, well-laid-out, lots of room for lots of distracted shoppers with big grocery carts. Now, I usu get most of my produce elsewhere but I cook a lot of ethnic foods and food is my very LIFE and every single weird or foreign ingredient that the fda allows in the states that I have looked for I have found here… but not elsewhere in one place in Delaware. Or outside of philly, actually. They have Empire brand chicken, cubed veal for stew, file powder for gumbo, asafoetida for Indian food. They always have Fage yogurt– and full-fat! They have seitan, kosher, DiBruno Bros., all kinds of stuff, they have everything. I know they were re-doing the inside this past summer and that was a pain. I only use the self check-out so can’t attest to friendliness of staff but the people in the meat dept are always very helpful. I moved out of the area and I miss shop rite at least every other grocery trip. I stock up on stuff I can’t get in my new town at this place every time I visit home & it feels so good. One-stop grocery shopping & peace of mind if you don’t have time to go to more than one place for specialty items– or a spot to get –if you don’t have any place to get specialty items– is priceless.

2 years in a row the bakery department completely messed up our daughter’s birthday cake. The first year we ordered the cake almost a month a head of time and even checked in on several occasions prior to the birthday to make sure they had all the details correct. The baker Genie was great, but the rest of the bakery staff are very non social and rude. When we came to finally pick up the cake last year they had not even start the cake or as they said, «We don’t have any order here for your cake.» Once they found the order they lost they rushed my daughter’s cake and gave a discount, but it wasn’t what we asked for. This year we ordered a Hunger Games themed cake that had flames and was decorated like the Hunger Games with dark colors. Once again this year due to their past track record we came in weekly to verify that they had our order correct. This year thank goodness that at least made our cake, but this time the cake we specifically ordered was just a plain all white cake with Words in yellow on top. Needless to say we are done with ever getting cakes made here regardless of how much of a discount they give us. We are now losing valuable preparation time for my daughters birthday and we still need to cook several things for her party at 2pm and it’s already 12:15. Very disappointing because we love the personality of Genie, but unfortunately we will never order a cake from here again. Despite receiving the cake for free this still put us way behind schedule. We will only come here for groceries and next year we will try the local bakery Sweeney’s and promote a small local business.

For 10 yrs my family has been ordering birthday cakes from here. For the past 2 years, we have had the worst experience! Last year we came in to order our daughter’s birthday cake and had a wonderful experience with Jeanie. She was very helpful and took the time to make sure she wrote down exactly what we needed. During the week, we came in to confirm our order. We came across the most rude and nasty young lady. She had a nasty tone with us the entire time and didn’t want to confirm our order. As she huffed and puffed through the process, she finally said«yeah yeah we have your order». The next day when we came to pick up our custom cake, the order was never done. Jeanie and another lady rushed to complete our order. We waited for an hour while they made it. When we received it, it was obvious that it was rushed. We were hugely disappointed. This year for our daughter’s Hunger Game themed party, we decided to give them another chance. We came in 3 weeks earlier to order the cake. The lady that took our order seemed very rushed even though there were no customers. Earlier this week, we came in multiple times to confirm the cake. Each time the people told us it was in. We even called the bakery multiple times to try to speak with the cake decorator but was never able to. Of course, we arrive today just to find that our custom cake was nothing like we asked. Instead of the picture we picked, it was a plain white cake with yellow writing. We informed them it was completely wrong. Needless to say they had to rush and fix it the cake AGAIN! We complained to the manager and she apologized. Yes we got the cake for free but it was a huge inconvenience considering we still have lots to do for the party. Needless to say, this is the last time we are getting cakes from here. It is just to much of a hassle and stress.

Shop rite is great for specific things: fresh seafood selection, meats/chicken, kosher/halal, international items that are otherwise difficult to find. Downsides are that the store is very disorganized– hard to find normal grocery items quickly, and the fruits/vegetables are frequently rotten or about to rot.

Not a huge fan. Sure, the prices are better then most super markets, but the store itself always appears dirty. My biggest issue is the freshness of the food. 2 days ago I bought a block of Crackle barrel cheese, only to find out when I opened it that it was moldy. This is the third time I have bought something from this store to find out that it was either past the expiration date, or the product was just bad. Of course I don’t keep my super market receipts so I didn’t bring it back. Im sure they would have honored it for me anyway, but who has the time. I think I will stick to Giant. A bit more expensive but have never gotten food that was rotten or old.

I’ve been to many Shoprites. I only come into one for the deals not the store. The people here are nice and I have no complaints.

This is a great grocery store. First, it is much larger than you think when you see the outside. It is the size of a super-Walmart on the inside. Second, everything, including the pre-cooked items, are low priced. In fact, the prices are much lower than Acme’s on almost every item. Third, it is easy to get to off of Rt. 202. My favorite part of the store is definitely the large selection of inexpensive, pre-cooked items. The store has roasted chickens in all sizes, fried chicken, sushi, cornbread, and a whole host of other items. I would highly recommend this store to people.
