I loves these olives! This is such a cool olive oil and vinegar shop! They have dozens and dozens of craft olive oils and balsamic vinegars available in giant metal canisters available for sampling, or by the bottle. I was a bit overwhelmed when I came in here. They have such a giant selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegars, I didn’t know where to start. The clerk was quite helpful, and walked us through all kinds of wonderful flavor pairings between the oils and vinegars. There were combinations that I had no idea were possible, like blood orange olive oil, and chocolate balsamic vinegar. Amazing. The olive oils are ultra-premium. They’re cold pressed, extra-super virgin olive oil. The oil hasn’t even thought about not being a virgin. The clerk explained the difference between the different grades of olive oil, which was helpful. We ended up getting the lemongrass ginger olive oil, which I’m looking forward to using in Thai stir fry. They offer lots of samples, but have the staff assist you on that. There’s also a cool restaurant in here that serves up wine and food, but I just shopped the oils. This is the coolest olive oil shop I’ve ever been in, and I recommend that you come in and change your oil.

The service was ok, nothing that earned an extra tip. My real problem comes with my meal. It tasted great, I ordered the special, Organic duck with 3 potato hash and spinach(even though the waitress offered me Brussels sprout and I accepted, yet meal came with spinach). I think it was about 3 ounces of duck. I left hungry and just finished a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon after coming home. For $ 25 for the duck, I feel I should’ve left fully satisfied and not hungry. Probably won’t be going back for food or drink as the drink my friend ordered was sent back bc it wasn’t made correctly.

This place is so wonderful! I was a little upset they closed the wine shop beside the restaurant however they moved some of the wine in a cute little wine cove and still have impeccable food. The manager always comes over to make sure all is ok. The cheese boards are phenomenal and you can pick and choose what you want. I have never had a bad wine or food here. Whether going in for an app or actual dinner you won’t be dissapointed! Our waitress Michelle is always great everytime we have had her! She gives great recommendations and knows her stuff. They also still have free wine tastings and also do craft brew beer tastings too. A great place for an adult night, sunday brunch, or even a family dinner. We have taken pur kids in and they can always find something to eat too. They are however adventurous eaters. If your in the area definitely give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.

Have not tried the restaurant but the store is fantastic! I go there for all my olive oil and balsamic vinegar needs… the freshest in town(I’ve been to the other specialty shops and this is by far the best.) I highly recommend the Chilean Olive Oil and the aged 18 year old balsamic vinegar– both are very distinct tasting yet very versatile. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Never more the best fresh tuna melt in Wilmington. On recent lunch visit what was once a favorite sandwich was a BIG disappointment. The only hot item on the plates were the sweet potato fries. Sandwich was served cold, tasteless, poorly cooked with unmelted cheese. The waitress was apprised of the matter & we were told she would let the chef know. No feedback or any compensation

Very delicious! The cocktails, the wine selections, the food, the desserts… tried the tuna bites, crab fritters, house salad(great dressing), grouper with risotto… I could have eaten an entire plate of the risotto it was fantastic… the tuna bites are incredible lightly seared with hint of chili and spice… the grouper was well prepared but I felt maybe not super fresh… but I am maintaining my five stars because this is my third visit and I have never been disappointed, not to mention I am very… very picky about fish! Then the dessert… tried the ribbon cake… it absolutely deserves a blue ribbon… even if you never eat here at least try the desserts. I feel that whether you dine, snack, drink, or dessert here… you will always leave pleasantly satiated!

Wow. Totally blown away by this place. I met up with a group of galpals here for the Friday wine tasting event. I wasn’t expecting much since it’s in a shopping center across from Mayfair, but I was oh. so. wrong. The shop is FULL of interesting infused balsamic vinegar and olive oils. There is a large variety of salts, rubs, Beauty products, cheese, olives, wine… and probably some other awesome stuff I didn’t see. The wine section host several little tables and chairs where you can get a bottle of wine and share some tapas with friends. You can go in and taste the variety of vinegar, which I totally did, and then decide on which was your favorite. The guys in the shop were helpful and knowledgeable about any questions you had, and if you’re in the area you should totally go by here.

Wowza. Like Olive oil? They have a huge section of olive oils. Oh, and a nice cheese selection. Did I see rum cake? In the back they have a small yet growing selection of fine wines — great champagne seleection as well.

Worth a trip… pretty good prices on oil and vinegar too, about as cheap as online and you can taste ‘em all. The«no photography» sign was a bit of a FU, take that down, if someone wants to copy your«idea» they will.

All I can say is that this place is an epicurean’s dream. From the moment you walk in, the scent of olives, cheese and wine makes you feel at home. I would not have thought this place would be so cool looking at it from the outside — that’s only because I’ve never seen this concept before. They do wine tastings each and every Friday, and never sample the same wines twice. The owners are generous and knowledgeable, making this a great place for people who love wine and olive oils, and people who want to learn more about them. What a treat!

This place is AMAZING! I was lucky enough to have my sister-in-law introduce me to this place when I was in town for a visit. Love, love, love their vanilla and their fig balsamic vinegars and I’ve already bought a bunch of bottles as gifts for friends. My only wish would be for the owners to have a satellite store in the Boston area!

We love our EVOOs. And Taste the Olive does it up right. They offer a fantastic selection of oils, vinegars and go-withs, and employ a wonderful staff to guide you through tasting. The 18 year aged balsamic vinegar is incredible. Also, don’t miss the herb-infused olive oil(all you need to add is sea salt and you’re ready to dip in with crusty bread). WOWZA! Thanks, Elizabeth and Kimberlei!

I have yet to experience a shop like this in the Raleigh area, so Taste the Olive is a staple when visiting family in Wilmington! The selection of oils and vinegars are almost overwhelming. I love being able to taste each individually and ponder how to put them to good use! Kimberlei is a wealth of knowledge and she has actually expanded my parent’s culinary horizons and gained them as regular customers! My recommendations include the single origin olive oils and the 18 year aged balsamic, they make our homemade pizza even better!

Savvy Unilocaler Tripp W had read about the recent opening of the Olive in his hometown and — intrigued by the idea of olive oil tastings/let-down by the nextdoor sushi restaurant which was closed for the holiday) — we dropped in this past weekend while in town. We were greeted by the owner’s husband who gave us an overview of what they offer. But as soon as Kimberlei finished up with the customer she was helping, she joined us to explain the background of the oils and vinegars and to help us with the tasting. Call me ignorant, but I just had no idea that there were so many types of olive oil. I started with the grassy versions, which progressed into throaty peppery oils that can better withstand high heats and give food a more full-bodied flavor. Across from that were the specialty oils — Indian spiced versions, oils pressed with basil or mushroom, hot chipotle infused oils, and so on. And the piece de resistance for us – a lovely white truffle oil. Not to mention the balsalmic vinegars! Be still my beating heart. More than a dozen fruit vinegars; some of my faves were coconut, grapefruit and peach. The 18-year aged balsalmic was amazing. TTO also offers wine/champagne vinegars. The possibilities are really endless, and Kimberlie has thoughtfully put out some recipe cards for uses — everything from cocktails, to ice cream topping(I tried it – it rocks!), to enhancing coconut/lime shrimp… Her suppliers press the olives within hours of plucking to ensure the best flavors. And everything is bottled in the cutest packaging with her store name and location deiicately painted on – perfect for gifts — which is exactly how we ended up leaving with about 8 bottles… but if I could have afforded one of each, I easily would have gone for a whole collection! If you can’t tell, I’m just absolutely smitten with this little shop; and I’m scheming about borrowing the business idea for the Triangle! Holding out on a star because I can see how this could grow into something even more robust — offering artisanal breads and cheeses and wines. Suggested pairings. A few tables inside and out to enjoy your purchases. What a cute date place would that make? In the meantime, go and visit them to stock up on gifts and treat yourself to one or two pantry items that will make you feel like a culinary god.
