We had never been here before so we thought we would give it a try. Wow, what a disappointment! I can’t remember the last time I had dinner some where and wished I could have my money back. They started out by bringing us crackers still wrapped in cellophane packets like you get at the mall food court with a small bowl of unidentifiable cheese that looked like the top had crusted over from sitting out too long. Filet Mignon is listed as a daily price so you have to ask. Today it was over $ 30(add $ 5 for 1 trip to the salad bar). I have never seen filet over $ 26 in Wilson, and unlimited salad bar or at least a house salad is ALWAYS included with a steak! We both went with the special, which included rib eye, chef’s choice for veggies, baked potato, and ONE trip to the salad bar for $ 26, That was the thinnest rib eye I’ve ever seen in my life. It wasn’t marbled with fat. It was marbled with gristle. The baked potato was excellent! However, the waiter brings a 3 bowl service to fix your potato. He doesn’t leave it, so get what you want then and there. The vegetables were carrots and broccoli mixed together. Left overs? The carrots would have been ok if they didn’t have what ever it was spice that gave an after kick in heat. It was so strong that it took away the taste of the carrot. The broccoli was so over cooked that it was just mush and lost all taste, which I suppose is why the chef added a kick to that as well. I didn’t like the extra kick of heat in the vegetables at all. The salad bar was pitiful! First, I couldn’t believe the salad didn’t come with all steak dinners like most other places, especially for the prices they charge. I couldn’t believe it when I saw they put the heart of the lettuce in there. It’s as if they took the entire head, cut it in 6 sections and threw it in the bar. It was clumped together, yellow and a bit bitter. The bacon bits must have been store bought since they were rubbery pieces instead of fresh made crisp bacon. When I go out to eat, I go out to have a chef prepare fresh ingredients. I can open a a jar of bacos at home. The croutons were mashed into a solid chunk that you had to chip apart if you wanted any. I’ve never seen a worse salad bar, not even a lower class restaurant. The service is top notch. Our waiter was as friendly and attentive as you want and the rest of the staff was always aware in case your waiter was busy at another table. No complaints at all with staff, which is why they get at least 2 stars instead of 1. If I were to base the evening just on the food for taste and the price, it would have been 1 star. $ 65 for 2 specials, 1 coke and 1 martini. I’m not a tough critic. Another restaurant in town with the same class of service, Pups, is supposed to be direct competition. They received a 5 star rating from me. They earned their 5 star just as Rocky’s earned their 2 star. Next time I want fine dining or just a good steak, I will be going else where.

Great food and atmosphere. The best prime rib on planet earth! Great salad bar too. Great local family owned restaurant.

I will have to agree with Heather, it is an older style steak house, it looks like it forgot that the 1980s disappeared nearly forty years ago. The food was decent, the salad bar was fair since it had different types of lettuce other than iceberg, though you only get one trip and they make sure you know that — they are the salad police. The steaks were cooked correctly but had little flavor, if I have to use A-1 there is a problem, we have a problem Houston. The service was good. The price was a bit high for the overall experience. We probably won’t be back, but I understand why the regulars keep coming back, very limited choices in Wilson.

Been wanting to try this restaurant based on feedback from others in the area. Food was good, but not for the price paid. Atmosphere was fine to me. Older type steakhouse feel. Our waitress was great and very attentive. Don’t think we will go back based on the prices. Was a great date night though.

I took my wife here for her birthday dinner recently and was pleasantly surprised. There were four of us and we all had steaks of one kind or another. My wife had the plain rib-eye, I had the bourbon rib-eye, my son had a fillet and my mother-in-law had a sirloin. All were cooked perfectly as ordered and were delicious. The sides and salad bar were first rate as was the service. There was a large group being served in another room so it wasn’t as quiet as I would have liked, but it wasn’t unbearably noisy. All in all, a great experience at a moderate price.
