Ballz is a tacky excuse for a sports bar. Obnoxious dance club music, distracting light shows, and go-go dancers dangling their dicks over your cocktail. If I actually tried to watch sports there, I would be highly frustrated. Drinks are overpriced, and don’t get me started on the restrooms. They removed the outside for of the women’s room and the door to one of the stalls was collapsed. So the women’s restroom offered one disgustingly dirty stall with NO privacy. This place had potential, but the mark was totally missed. We used to frequent Sidelines. I knew there would be changes and was prepared to give it a shot. Sorry, not our cup of tea. And apparently not many other people’s either, because that place is like a ghost town. Better off going to GYM bar, Matty’s, or Rumors if you want a low-key night out.

Doors are locked as of this review date. This place didn’t last long. My guess is it will reopen with a new name.

The first thing one notices after squeezing by the imposing, totally unnecessary, Miami-esque bouncers after entering Ballz is a stripper pole and a very sterile atmosphere accompanied by $ 9 drinks. If I wanted to see a stripper pole and pay $ 9 for a drink, I could instead head over to Mr. David’s other bar, Le Boy, and accomplish those tasks with abandon.

Disappointing place. If this is a «sports bar» we mush have gone on a very strange night. I bet this place has a short life, unless owners make big changes real quick.

Sorry excuse for a sports bar. Bring back sidelines! I ordered a Mai tai which the bartender proceed to make in a short glass and said«these are the only glasses we have». Gf ordered a jack and ginger, hard to mess up, it was very weak! I’ll stick to rumor’s or matty’s. Too bad. I was looking forward to a place named«ballz».

These guys need help. Bartender was nice, but clueless as to what Vermouth is or how to make a drink. 12 people there on a Sat at happy hour but TV’s blasting sports so loudly conversation was challenging. Honestly 1 small expensive drink in a space splashed with neon paint offered no reason to stay or return. What the Phở restaurant next door was packed though, maybe get a well made, well priced drink across the street at Tropics and skip Ballz. They’ll be gone in 9 months without significant adjustment.

Ballz isn’t what I’d call a serious sports bar, in fact much less so than its location predecessor, Sidelines. Gone are the pool tables and the sports memorabilia of jerseys, sports pictures and sports fan stuff that had previous adorned the place, and as a word of caution to all of our sexually straight friends out there, it is clearly a gay sports bar. There are plenty of flat screens with plenty of games being shown on them but for serious sports viewing I would say too small. Then, you’ll have a difficult time figuring between the sound and any game being shown. In fact for sound, instead of being of a sports game, it’s generally in the nature of background dance music. In fact when I was last there the sound was of disco which as any gay knows, continues to thrive within the gay community. On the good side, the place is super clean with the behind the bar scene orderly and neat. The bartenders are friendly, professional and generally top notch. In fact if you want some off the wall type of drink, I ordered a Fabric Softener(Bailey’s Cream and Tequila), just tell them what goes into it, how to make it and serve it, and they are more than happy to whip it up for you. Instead of the usual sports décor common to most sports bars, Ballz has some splashy mural like art work. I know some hate it, but for me, I like it a whole lot more than having to stare at some old NFL jersey or pictures of has been sports heroes of the past.

Ballz is a bust. I had heard mixed reviews about Ballz before coming here for the first(and last) time last night. There was hardly a crowd on a Saturday night, and the 2 hulking security guards out front made me think we were entering some exclusive uppity Miami club. The interior had the same layout as Sidelines but now everything is dark, with glowing wall art and black lights galore. The pool tables are gone, and have been replaced with an empty dance floor and stage. The bartenders are all shirtless, and upon walking in, we were, get this, WAVEDDOWN to come to the bar. I could not believe that! I have never been to a bar/club where upon entering, the bartender made us come to the bar. We relented and ordered 2 mixed drinks… for 18 $. That was the nail in the coffin. 9 $ a drink? We are NOT in Miami, and you are NOT the Manor. Ballz isn’t even centrally located to the other bars on the drive, so how they expect to be competitive in Wilton is a mystery. After finishing our small and weak expensive drinks, and watching bartenders randomly throw napkins in the air, and scrawny guys in glowing singlets dance on the bar tops… we left. Overall, this place is a bust. I don’t know the exact details of why Sidelines closed, but Wilton Manors needs it back. Ballz is a confused mix of glamour and neon colors who doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be, a relaxed sports bar? An upscale trendy dance club? A seedy strip club? A hole in the wall? Unfortunately it ends up being all of these and none of those. From the intimidating security out front, to the bartenders who wave you down to the bar, to the overly expensive drinks, and the random empty stage, Ballz is not long for this world.

A sports bar this is not. Good luck watching the college football playoffs here — or any sporting event for that matter. While they have a bunch of TVs, they’re mainly used for videos. This is a dance bar that thinks it’d be cool to have a sports theme — complete with strippers in singlets and sports graffiti on the wall. Gone are the pool tables from Sidelines and any semblance of an actual sports bar. WilMa still needs a good gay sports bar, like HiTops in SF. And this is definitely not a good sports bar.
