The food was great. The service was top notch. We arrived on a week day in the early evening. I must say from the outside I wasn’t expecting much, but I have friends who say the food here is great so we thought we would try it. And the food was great. There was us and about another 10 to 11 patrons. They have dining tables and a counter like a diner. They also have pastries and Cuban coffee, aside from the food. What I thought was novel, was they had the menus under plexiglass on the table. I am a clean freak and our table was relatively clean, not perfect. The food was great, portions were good. It was filling and satisfying. The parcha, a passion fruit juice drink, was really great. I haven’t had it that good in a long time. We drank so much that they ran out. I would recommend this place to anyone in the Wilton Manors area who wants some authentic and overly good Latin food.

Love this place! Starting with Breakfast — where can you get eggs, bacon or ham, potatoes, toast and coffee for less than $ 6.00? ONLYATLASCOLINAS! Lunches and Dinners are awesome too. The only reason why I can’t give this place 5 stars is the service. it’s very«leisurely» to say the least. It takes a while for a server to get to your table and take your drink order, then a while longer to get your meal order, and a VERY long time to get your food. The food though, is great! Ropa Vieja, moros, oxtails, pollo ala plancha, Cubano sandwich, Carne con papa, croquetas de jamon… you can’t go wrong with any of these. So if you have the time to sit and linger over serveral cups of Cuban Coffee and chat with good friends while waiting for terrific food, this is the place.

My new favorite local Cubano joint. I’ll be coming here a lot. Food is great and daily special is a great deal! Never going to Pollo Tropicale again.

Normally I would give Las Colinas a better rating but resently, with the lack of management being present, it has started lacking in all around quality. In the past, it was kept cleaner. Now food warming units are left open; grilling unit not kept clean; floors are slippery. I hope it changes soon.

I’d say this is the best«fastball» cuban food spot in Broward. Of course, Dade county has a place like this on just about every corner, but sometimes you just need a Medianoche in Fort Lauderdale! What you ask makes a proper Cuban joint? For starters, Cuban food is supposed to be cheap. You’re supposed to get a steak that sticks off the edges of its own dedicated plate, and then another separate plate for your sides(which shouldn’t cost extra) This is Cuban food canon. Oh yeah, and you should be able to order a wheat milkshake(you can here). This place has great morros, «ironed bread», and vaca frita, and they’re really nice.

Here’s another review of a restaurant I’ve driven by a thousand times, but never stopped in for a visit. I’ve heard good things from friends and have read great reviews on the Unilocal. Today’s visit was due to an instant craving for empanadas. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by just about all the staff. «Buenos Dias». «Good morning». «Hi papi, let me know when you’re ready». Just about all the customers were referred to as mommy, papi, or friend. I prefer papi Now let’s get down to business. Although they were out of chicken empanadas, the beef and ham/cheese ones were great. Freshly fried and filled with a good amount of filling. Delicious. The beef was extra amazing. The café con leche — perfect. This was the first time I was served café con leche as pictured — hot milk with the fresh espresso served on the side — but it was perfect. Prices — awesome. Less than $ 5 for two good sized empanadas and café con leche. Service — as I started to mention above the service was great. Super friendly and attentive staff. Although some of the Unilocalers have experienced slow/poor service, that wasn’t the case today. The restaurant was pretty busy and I saw food coming out quickly and no one visually annoyed. Great service today! I can’t wait to come back and try their mofongo!

Las Colinas was my final stop before leaving to head back to Indy. I’d had their Cuban sandwich before and decided to try them again. The pork was definitely seasoned well and the portions were more than enough for one person. The ham was also a great compliment and the hot sauce they brought out kept me drinking my soda. It had just enough heat without competing with the sandwich. This place is a must when you have a taste for a Cuban sandwich. I would have given 5 stars but the Croqueta I had for an appetizer, while flavorful was not served fresh.

Food was outstanding. Atmosphere was super relaxed and laid back. This is a place for serious food lovers and not for a «first date» I fell in love with coffee all over again here. The Cuban coffee was more than I expected. The food was exceptionally fresh, prepared properly and presented with a smile.

The empanadas are, by FAR and away, the best I’ve had in south Florida. Now, I know that’s a bold statement, but I’m telling you, I’m a big fan of empanadas and I’ve tried them everywhere. The beef are my favorites(a little olive, yum!) but the chicken and the ham & cheese are good too — but not nearly as flavorful as the beef. They are also HUGE. The croquettes are also excellent. I can’t drive by this place without picking up a couple of empanadas and a café colada. This is one of the few spots that makes a PROPER café colada(concentrated coffee meant for sharing in little shot cups) — though I ask for a little less sugar than they’d usually put in. The entrees are ok. Solid and fairly priced but not spectacular(but this is a casual spot, for around $ 10, what do you expect!?)… and the Sandwiches are very good. Mmmm media noche…

From small snacks such as ham croquetas or beef empanadas to more fulfilling entrees such as ropa viejia, and cubano especial sandwich, one cannot go wrong with anything that they order from this Latin american restaurant! My husband and I made a quick stop here to order food to go right before heading to the airport. It was one of the best ideas we have. We hate paying for expensive food chain food at the airport and opt to try something we can only get in Florida. The waitress was quick to take the order and the food came out quickly and hot. There’s plenty of parking in the lot. We will definitely be back in the future!

I’ve got mixed feelings on this place because the things they did good, they knocked out of the park, but when things fell flat, they fell super flat. Croquettas were super crispy but the taste was eh Yuca fries come with a garlic mayo. Also eh. Now we get to the good part. The media noche is one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Ham, pork and Swiss cheese, with mustard and pickles on a sweet bread. The batido de mamey was insanely good too. The service was super slow. I sat down and waited for a menu… and waited… and when I was done I waited for my check for so long that I eventually got up and went to pay at the counter. However, the media noche was good enough to make me come back for one — but I’d prob take it to go.

I don’t like to write poor reviews but I didn’t have a great experience here. Came to FL for business and found this restaurant online near my hotel. Came on a Tues night with my colleague at about 8pm. I ordered the skirt steak and wanted fried plantains, but the waiter said the plantains they currently had were no good and instead recommended the yuca con mojo. I didn’t know what that was but went with it anyway. My coworker also ordered the skirt steak. Out came the steak… it was so veiny and chewy, it was very difficult to eat. I thought it was normal at first, but my colleague’s was soft and easy to chew, so I called the waiter over and tried to explain that the cut I received was pretty bad. English is not his first language so it was a bit difficult to convey, but he eventually took it back and brought me back a new one which was better. However, the yuca con mojo was very flavorless and bland. I’m still not really sure what it is, but it looked and tasted like a boiled potato that absolutely had no flavor or texture. I was a bit disappointed he had recommended that to me. We asked if they had flan for dessert, and no, they only had some kind of frozen ice cream you would buy at the market. Another sigh. Last, when we were paying the bill, we asked him to split our bill evenly with 2 cards. The total was $ 27 and change. He comes back and charged $ 9 on my card and the rest on my colleagues. No idea why he did that and he couldn’t really explain why he did when we asked. I would give this place 1 star but they re-did my steak for free so 2 stars.

Horrible service tonight. Ordered a steak dinner and sandwich to go. Waitress started my sandwich after 30 minutes of the steak sitting at the counter only after I asked her about my order. When I got home the steak and rice were already cold. What bothered me was that they weren’t that busy and the the 2 waitress and waiter were just goofing off letting my food get cold. When I returned they copped an attitude but reheated my steak. Now it only tastes over cooked.

LOL yea, methinks not. I don’t know if it’s because of the time of day we came here but literally everything I wanted was not available so I opted on an order of yuca fries, can’t go wrong there. It was my friend’s idea to come here because they’re from out of town and had a good experience last time but the food is mediocre at best and I guess if it’s made beforehand(which seems to be a majority of their menu) and it’s sold out, your SOL. Not cool. Even the dang empanadas were unavailable on a Sunday afternoon. Hellooooooo I wish I had a better review to give because very rarely do I give negative reviews. If I tried this place again I would hope its during breakfast time or during the week. Maybe I just came at a bad time.

Finally, a decent Cuban restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. #305cafecito and croquetas are on point! Masitas de puerco(pork chunks) are a little too fatty, but very tender and flavorful. Cubano Especial sandwich(Cuban Special) is delicious! Lots of meat and cheese, bread is soft, but toasted and buttery. AND they have a ventanita! Thank goodness.

In town for a girls getaway. Got into town super early, tired and hangry from a red eye flight. This was the perfect way to start our day. The staff here is awesome, all suggestions for breakfast was absolutely amazing and the service is the best I’ve had in a loooooong time. Prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you get. I’ve just arrived and this is my favorite place already! You won’t be disappointed, there’s so much to choose from. I’ll be back this afternoon to try the oxtail.

We were hungry and in the mood for Latin food. Unilocal guided us to Las Colinas during Broward’s Unilocal spring break weekend o’ shenanigans. Las Colinas is a very simple café in your typical South Florida style. Pastries and baked goodies galore at the glass counter, an eat-in bar by the open kitchen, cafeteria style tables for the rest of the patrons, and Latino folks all around. I wish we had more of these in Tampa! I ordered the Pan con bistec with a side of fries, hubby ordered the ropa vieja sandwich and a beef empanada, and my two friends ordered a Cuban sandwich, shrimp stuffed plantains, and an entrée of rice, black beans and chuletas. My steak sandwich was okay. It hit the spot but I was hoping for more flavorful meat… perhaps some buttery bread and a little mayo too. My husband’s sandwich was okay… again, it could have been more flavorful. We were given a chicken empanada in error, which was fine because we ate it anyway. But as I’ve mentioned in other reviews, I’m extremely partial to Colombian empanadas. They are simply the best! The shrimp plantain cups were alright. The black beans were on point. Overall, a decent place to eat. I probably wouldn’t return, not because the food was bad, but because I’m not a local and I’d like to see what else is available at other restaurants.

We were in Ft. Lauderdale and since we weren’t able to get to Miami, we made an effort to get some Cuban food while we were in town. Most of the popular Cuban places were closed on Sunday, so we decided to check this place out(good reviews, just not many of them). I got two empanadas, which are huge – bigger than my hand, and the chicken soup. It was more than I could eat(seriously, the empanadas are not bite-size as I’ve been led to believe they are). A got a Cuban sandwich, and he really enjoyed that as well. Another plus is that the prices were great, at less than $ 10 a meal. They seemed to have a variety of tasty options if you’re willing to get a bit more authentic Cuban. Definitely a solid Cuban place to check out in Ft. Lauderdale!
