Eggs Benedict and french toast was so great! !! Sat outside before the sun was too hot. Great service!

I’d be willing to go back since I am told this is the best place to eat at in Wimberley. The cold zuchinni soup was delicious. The strawberry rhubarb pie was really good and wiped out the memory of the yucky pie slice we had at Wimberley Pie Company. The wine selection was good. I enjoyed the cheese plate. My quiche was nice and creamy with a good crust to go along with it. Salad dressing was nice and light. My husband’s crab cakes tastes like they were made from canned crab though, he was very disappointed. But in my opinion, Texas is not the place to order crab anything. Service was not so great. Four stars for my food, two for my husbands.

My mom and I had dinner here on a Saturday evening. They had live music which was really nice. The atmosphere was great and the service was friendly. We ordered the crab cakes which were good but probably not the best that I have tasted. I would have given five stars but their dessert menu didn’t have anything that looked appealing so we went to another restaurant for dessert. I would have liked to have seen crème brûlée on the menu. Overall it was a very pleasant experience!

I wanted to give this place 5 stars but after reading some of the reviews I can sympathize with a few of the points made. The food is made to order, yes you will have to wait and if it is busy I’m sure they will be rushing and quality may drop ever so slightly. Try enjoying yourself instead of rushing through your meal like everything else we find ourselves doing in our lives The menu is not huge… Uhmm isn’t that to be expected., so they don’t have tons of norms… The major chain places are a short drive away if you were looking for that Small place small staff. Again if your Ina hurry or they are slammed give the people a break this is setup to be a quant enjoyable experience not a ihop To sum it up my wife and I went on a Sunday night @ 1900. People and owner were friendly, server was pleasant and informative without being overbearing, ambiance is fantastic without question sit on the patio, and food was to die for.

My boyfriend surprised me with a roadtrip to Wimberley, and he found Kates Place. I had not been out here since the flood, so I was anxious to see how it had recovered. We drove into Kates Place which was cute and quiet. The back patio has simple farm to table atmosphere. The worst thing about our visit was that we walked around the restaurant and stood at the host stand for a good 10 minutes while 3 people passed us. We asked for a manager, and an older lady came out with a mouth of food and said someone would be with us soon. Finally we were shown to a table n Our first orders were for Apple cider and orange juice with a half carafe of bubbles to make mimosas. Mushroom omelet tea and eggs Benedict were next. They added an extra cost, but we had sides of crab cakes, guacamole, and smoked salmon. Overall, the food was great, our server was very efficient and sweet. She kept apologizing for our wait. It’s not casually sophisticated or fine dining, but it was a great bargain in a cute town.

Went to Kate’s Place for dinner with friends and came away so very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. I had the crab cakes and my friend had the blue cheese quiche and we shared. I would be hard pressed to choose my favorite as they were both excellent. For dessert I had the Bear Paw ice cream(vanilla ice cream, pecans and Salted Carmel). It was so good! Typically when people ask me where to eat in Wimberley I tell them to go to San Marcos, well not my more. From now on I will tell everyone about Kate’s Place.

My wife and I were looking for a date night place to eat. As we were driving thru Wimberley on 2325, my wife said«there it is, make a right». Being a slightly blind, slightly older guy, I made a right into the wrong restaurant entrance. As she told me I was wrong(as if it were the first time), I convinced her to let’s try the place out. What a great move that was. We both really enjoyed the food and will be our new Wimberley«Go To» spot. The first thing to consider is the setting. The parking lot is a bit squished in back, but we were early and had no problems on a early Saturday. Later it could be an issue. Walking into the restaurant there was awesome outdoor seating with this funky shed bar. I kid you not, I’ve had a 10×10 shed about the size of that place. Most folks likely take their favorite drinks out to the outside seating which was pure Wimberley. I say that in a pleasant, bemused way to indicate intimate & funky. Since it was early, cool, and threatening rain — we went inside. The inside wasn’t as intimate or inviting as outside. Someone seriously needs to help them with some decoration or advice on how to tame the place down. It was like a dance studio converted into a restaurant with some random tables, booths and chairs. As written, the lighting was a bit like a dance studio — bright! I think the interior needs a refresh. Being early, we scored a reasonably intimate corner until it started filling up. A very pleasant surprise was a live singer with a guitar doing some nice mellow tunes for tips. Bring cash and make sure you tip the guy. He needs to be a staple and encouraged to return. The waiter was — I kid you not — one of the best I’ve seen in years. I gave a very healthy tip because he was everything a good waiter should be. He was knowledgeable, pleasant, not too close, not too far. During the meal, he would occasionally, slowly cruise by. Not the ingratiating waiter asking if we wanted anything in the middle of a sentence or worse just as you take a bite(I just know they plan that) nor the one you never find. When you wanted him, he was there. Everything served well, great advice and nailed the order. I wanted to start out trying the sweet potato hummus. However, when my wife started out with a salad, I followed suite. I had the Caesar salad for starters. The salad was nice & fresh, but the dressing wasn’t what I expected. Not bad, just not a standard for a Caesar salad and not my taste. The menu was just full of entrees that I wanted to try. I settled on the Pretzel Schnitzel in honor of Wurstfest. It was huge, well cooked, and tasted awesome. If you’ve never(or even if you’ve ever) had German potato salad, you will love this one. I certainly did. The vegetable medley was the usual mix and the cabbage was the perfect German complement to the Schnitzel. This was definitely a score. I can’t wait to try out more items on the menu. We had a glass of the Dreaming Tree Chardonnay with the meal. There may be some wine aficionado’s(insert snobs) out there that may choke on Chardonnay with Pretzel Schnitzel, but my uncleansed palate found it a great match. We passed on the dessert as we had plans and I was way full.

Nothing better than a quiet Sunday brunch under the oaks listening to a singer songwriter while sipping mimosas.Nothing. Brunch on this Sunday featured a full carafe of very nice mimosas, coupled with a nice omelette for the SO and steak and eggs for me. Steak was a perfect medium, and juicy/tender and grilled nicely — eggs were a nice over medium, and the herbed redskins were delicious — but perhaps a bit scant for the $ 14 Omelette was perfectly done with generous cheese, but the fruit that was paired had a very mealy apple sliced up and took away from the dish. Coffee was nice and strong and fresh — and not bitter at all. Service was outstanding and professional — we will be back — often.

Kate’s??? I started writing this review with comparatives to other local restaurants, but that was like comparing being punched in the face with a rake versus a fine dining experience. Having been born in a town of 88 people and moving to a large city, I have dined in a lot of fine places and a lot of dives. I am just at home at Masraff’s as I am at Aunt Di’s Kountry Kitchen. I have had exceptional service and somewhat questioned if what I was eating is considered«food». Never has a meal ever ended as awkward and as uncomfortably as it was here. I am going to skip the appetizers. They were mediocre is all you need to know. One in our party ordered a Caesar Salad which consisted of an entire head of romaine, not tailed so the dirty/woody stem was not removed, which was literally so fishy it was as if the only ingredient used in the dressing was anchovy bits and the oil from the tin. When our party sent it back the waiter picked it up and was gone. No offer to replace the dish, just an «Oh, OK» and gone. Hmmmm. Then the mains arrived. I love chicken Marsala. I make it all the time. What I received was an poached chicken breast on an bed of undercooked and cold pasta. Now, I cannot say it was bland as this would imply there was flavor to begin with. I took a bite out of the chicken, added salt, took another bite, and was done. I tried the pasta was stuck together with wallpaper paste, cold, and afloat a pool of what could only be described as petroleum jelly mixed with butter and brown food coloring. The veg wasn’t even cooked. It was raw with what I assume was clarified butter dumped on it. Now. I politely sent my plate back noting it was cold and bland. I was not offered another dish. No manager came to see me. It just *POOF* disappeared with the waiter. About 5 minutes after I sent that back, the waiter came back, and began clearing the table. My wife and the couple across from us were not done with their dishes… and the waiter came and took them. Then the waiter had the dammed audacity to drop the check on the table. At this point I was hot. Real hot. Don’t you ****ing dare take a patron’s plate away while they are still eating. Management should be ashamed of themselves for letting a restaurant be run this way. The owner should be appalled a dish got sent back. The reason you exist is to serve food to patrons. Had this been a fine dining restaurant, I would gladly have dressed down the waiter, management, and the owner in front of other patrons. How dare you treat paying customers this way? However my blood pressure was not worth the $ 25 it took to get out of that place. We went over to Ino’z and had damn good burgers and beer. Enough beer and margaritas to drown some of the memories of Kate’s and not let it spoil the evening. You should be ashamed of yourselves. No, seriously. Ashamed. I wish I could award no stars.

They do a number of things right: * Good menu * Friendly service * Food seems to be prepared well However, if you serve the food cold, that’s just not acceptable. I get the feeling that they might have a chronic problem with cold food. There was a table that got served before us and I hear the man speaking loudly about«Is that our food in the window? Where’s the server? Its getting cold!» I felt really embarrassed for the women with him. But when we also got served a cold breakfast, it seems like he knew what he was talking about and it wasn’t the first time.

I’m a huge fan of this place, and make an effort to come out here every time I’m in Wimberley. The waffles are delicious, and their menu is always changing to reflect what’s seasonal and fresh. I love the quiche, and the Hummus Genovese is a fantastic appetizer(white bean dip). Impeccable décor, great outdoor patio. I love this place.

BLAST sandwich was amazing. Bacon. Lettuce. Avocado. Smoked turkey. Tomato. Cranberry mustard. Wheat bread. Very tasty. Bacon was thick and cooked in the restaurant. Nothing pre cooked and packaged.

Nice ambiance… wonderful acoustic guitar music… delicious food. I had the Steak salad, while my husband had the Chicken Marsala. Both were delicious! My husband definitely won the contest of the best order. The Chicken Marsala was very light and buttery, the chicken juicy, and the veggies perfectly sautéed. The best part was the gentleman singing the wonderful tunes! From oldies, to Willie Nelson. The service was great as well. Everyone worked as a well oiled machine. It was a very pleasant and tasty visit!

We were hesitant about trying Kate’s after a not so good experience with the restaurant next door(Linda’s). This was our last evening meal. Fortunately, this was our best meal during our entire stay in Wimberley. Kate’s is situated kind of funny. You come up the driveway, drive past the restaurant and park in the rear. Make your way past the«barn» and thru the door of the restaurant. The décor inside is better than your typical country café with wood ceilings and cedar post columns. Our waitress greeted us immediately and took our drink orders. We started out with the spinach hummus flatbread. If you like hummus, you’ll like this. It was very good as a shared appetizer. For our entrees, we both ordered the beef tenderloin($ 28). It came with roasted red potatoes, and veggies. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The potatoes were very good as well. The veggies were fresh(not frozen) and were cooked tender crisp. The table next to us made good comments about the crab cakes. They looked good and big enough to share. Service was perfect. If we had another day in Wimberley we would probably eat here again.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. The décor and grounds are warm and inviting. We enjoyed the great, attentive service. The soups of the day were delish! I had the frittata florentine, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his Ruben. There are many other things in the menu that caught my eye, so we will be back!

We came here to enjoy a early lunch before shopping around Wimberly! This place didn’t disappoint. A little slower service than you might be used to but we weren’t in a rush. Better kitchen management is probably needed for that reason alone! We had the crab cakes appetizer. They were delicious! I didn’t like the shrimp and grits dish. It had too much going on and I wasn’t expecting bell peppers and corn. I think a few sandwiches were also ordered at the table and there wasn’t anything left on their plates. They grow some of their own veggies and herbs in the back. The grounds are beautiful and I could see many good times happening out back! I would come here again if I was in the area!

Come Here! Come Here! We came here for brunch this past Saturday and were completely blown away with the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict! And let me tell ya, we are some eggs benedict Addicts! LOL! But seriously, the quality of food, service, and ambiance of the restaurant was Simply Amazing! CRABCAKEEGGSBENEDICT: Amaze-balls! Completely worth $ 13! Every last penny! Seriously folks, do yourself a favor and order this meal. Generously sized crab cake which was perfectly seasoned & Delectably DELICIOUS. Topped with poached eggs that were perfectly made. Although the hollandaise sauce was a bit more tangy than normal, but it differs from place to place. I suggest ordering it on the side. We also ordered sides of the Garlic & Rosemary Potatoes and Home Fries… both were Outstanding & seasoned perfectly! I recommend both to anyone as a side dish Mimosa: Yum! No complaints! Bloody Mary: Probably one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time! I like mine Spicy and they gave me Exactly what I wanted! Although I would have liked an olive in there… next time I’ll have to request one. But Great Taste! Service: Great, Friendly, & very Attentive Atmosphere: Casual but Intimate. Dim lighting indoors. White clothed tabletops. Good wine selection. Lots of outdoor covered seating. Small outdoor bar as well. 4 Stars b/c I’d like to try Dinner too. But Definitely Looking forward to our next visit here! Perhaps an amazing dinner may equal another Star!

Definitely lives up to its +ve reviews! Spouse and I wandered in about 6:30 on a Saturday night. We were seated immediatey, but had we not been, the cozy outside bar(complete with cat) would have been a comfortable waiting environment. Yes the place is loud — a function of concrete floor and wood ceilings, but it is a friendly kind of roar. Everyone is happy ’cause the food is more than adequate and service is friendly. Spouse wants me to lead this review with a shout out for the veggie medley — carrots and capsicum — that accompanied his pork chop. Amazingly fresh, perfectly cooked, beautifully herbed. What more can we say? Probably that most of the ingredients came from the garden at the back of the parking lot — YES! Anyway, he ordered a grilled pork chop which was beautifull presented atop a sprinkling of rosemary red potatoes(those fresh herbs again!) and the aforementioned veggie medley. The negatives were a slight overcooking of the otherwise gorgeous chop, and the absence of any garnish around the perimeter of the plate. My dinner, shrimp and mushrooms with a cream marinara over spaghetti, topped with grated fresh parmesan, was very tasty. Would have been better with a little more parmesan — note to chef: this is part of the flavor not just a garnish! And mushrooms that were more present, perhaps more than just a few thinly-sliced button-type. Overall a tasty dish, modestly priced, but these simple additions plus a wee bit of rim garnish would have added so much. Spouse ordered a totally unmemorable hot fudge sundae for dessert. I settled for a second glass of equally unmemorable but inexpensive Pino Grigio. There were a few negatives — — Hostess seated us promptly but was on the short edge of being courteous. — after we placed our order, we heard another waitress describing several attractive specials to the next table. — My pasta was supposed to come with some salad and a baguette, neither of which arrived(and I forgot about them until writing this review). No bread of any kind graced our table. — We were disappointed that our water was not refilled, though tables around us received lovely tall blue bottles of water with which to serve themselves. — We were not offered coffee — we didn’t want it, but it’s always nice to be offered the option. — We had to raise our voices to hear one another, even though there was no background music. A big plus for us was the easy to see GF marking a number of the menu items as gluten free, although that did not necessarily apply to the sides listed as accompanying them. So — a mixed bag. Relative to our other dining experiences in Wimberley I need to give this four stars but only by comparison. BTW, Large parking lot and a second outdoor bar suggest this must be a hopping place in season. Dinner for two with 2 glasses of wine, tax and tip was around $ 45. If we make it to Wimberley we will definitely eat here again.
