The only thing I regret about visiting A Tavola is that we did not visit sooner! We sat at the chef’s table, overlooking the kitchen, on a busy Saturday night. To start, we shared small portions of their house made pastas. For dinner, our steaks were cooked perfectly. Our server was very knowledgeable and recommended the perfect wine pairings for each course. Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is cozy and sophisticated, and we cannot wait to come back!

Very disappointing dining experience. My wife and I were looking for a nice Italian restaurant to take her parents while they were visiting. A Tavola had great reviews and was close by so we decided to try it out. I don’t know what the worst part was, the food or the service. It took 20 minutes just to bring us our drinks because apparently their computers were down. They don’t have a liquor license so don’t bother trying. I don’t understand how the computers effect their beer taps. We were ready to order our food and a second round but the waitress was nowhere to be found. Finally she came over and took our order. The food was terrible. 3 of us ordered pasta dishes and the other a steak. The steak was cooked fine but lacked flavoring. All 3 pasta dishes were so dry and tasteless. Send it back you’re thinking, right? Wrong. The waitress didn’t come back for 20 minutes and we were completely fed up by that point. They asked if they could take it back but at that point we were ready to leave and never return. The cherry on top was when they charged us for an extra drink. We should’ve taken them to the North End where they can actually back up the word«authentic»

A Tavola — Winchester, MA — 4÷23÷2015 Although located on a busy street in downtown Winchester, there was plenty of off street parking… The inside is a bit small but nicely decorated… Brown… Yellow and barn board make up the wall décor… Small wooden tables and chairs… A large mirror hangs from the left wall to give the illusion of size. From my table along the front windows I have a perfect view of the open kitchen where I can see the cook staff working in harmony preparing this evening’s delicacies… They have quite the diverse menu offerings which I suppose if you lived in the area is great because you can come back frequently to try them but when you’re on the road as I am, it’s not that often that I return. In my never ending quest for the ultimate dining experience, I look for new places to discover… The great thing here is that they offer half sizes so that you can sample more dishes… A definite plus for me! The house made sourdough bread was devine… Wheat, rye and all purpose flours makeup the backend of this wonderful bread… Served at room temperature with a side dish of softened butter and a bottle of rosemary olive oil… Interestingly they do not have salt and pepper on the table and after sampling the first pasta dish I can see why. I asked for it because I like to add some pepper to the olive oil before dipping… Mixed greens dressed in a chive balsamic vinaigrette with with just the right amount of locally produced bleu cheese… I must s
