Chips and salsa were good. Sweet tea was good. I had the Grilled Trio. It was carne asada, grilled chicken, and shrimp, with refried beans, rice, and flour tortillas. The carne asada was the best part, tender and delicious! But everything on the plate was good. First time here but I’ll definitely come back when I’m in town.

My wife and I have eaten here a few times including Saturday evening. This time it was with my brother and niece too. Overall, this is a pretty standard Mexican restaurant. Mexican decorations, and all the standard Mexican menu items. I will highlight a few things I enjoy. Had a XX on tap in a monster 32 oz mug. The salsa they bring with chips to the table is very good and just spicy enough to let you know there is some peppers in it. My wife and I ordered a really good nacho platter that has beans, beef, and chicken, along with all the other fixings(cheese, guacamole, sour cream). Their tortilla chips are a little thicker than most other restaurants. I usually prefer the thinner ones but in this case the thicker ones stand up to all the toppings. I also enjoy their seafood enchiladas because of the cream sauce they use. You can find seafood type dishes in just about every Mexican restaurant but not all of them use a generous amount of crab meat and shrimp, and even less have a seafood cream sauce slathered on top of the enchiladas. Delicious! All the other dishes we have had at our table are very standard Mexican type dishes(fajitas, tacos, burritos, quesadilla) and they are good but do not stand out from any other Mexican place. Also ejoy that I can catch sports other than soccer on the multiple TVs around the restaurant. The last couple times we have been the Nats games have been on and I appreciate that. The final thing that stands out is the price. Even with an app and drinks our bill was still under $ 50 before tip. That is hard to do at any type of restaurant anymore, even most other Mexican places. My wife and I will definitely continue to enjoy Las Trancas on our way through Winchester.

I’ll just call this place decent Mexican food as this is my 3rd time here for lunch. Standard faire, nothing special or to complain about. The chips are fresh, salsa is pretty runny but good, and the service friendly and efficient. Portion sizes are tempered, not as hefty as a lot of other places but certainly still more than you should be eating. Extra props today though; I asked for some limes and a jalapeño and I got two full jalapeños and a freshly cut full lime. Nice touch! Also, google them, you most likely will find a token coupon.

We’ve been here many times. Sometimes it’s a 5⁄5 experience and service and other times it has taken incredibly long to get service. As a general rule we really like the food, though occasionally their chips are overdone. But we come back again because it’s a pretty basic, good Mexican restaurant. The specials on different days are nice.

The food here is amazing. I got the lunch fajitas which were just the right size and delicious. My wife got #8 lunch enchilada with rice and beans also super yummy. The margaritas are to die for. Love this place.

Meal was ok, salsa was very good. Portions were average. Service was not the best. It was slow, waitress was not attentive to us and got 2 parts of my order wrong… She did not write my order gown. Restroom was not clean. :(

No beuno! Stopped by after diy shopping at Lowe’s and will never be back. Ordered the fish tacos(trying to eat healthy) and could smell instantly they were going to be nasty. Definitely frozen and under seasoned. I asked the waitress if they were made from previously frozen fish. She replied with«oh, they are still frozen? «When I clarified my question she stated that they were fresh. Ummmmm? Needless to say it wasn’t worth the trip across the parking lot from Lowe’s.

Stopped here since we were at the Lowes and figured it was a place that we should give a shot. Glad we did. This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had on this side of the country. My wife had the enchiladas verdes, while I had the carnitas. Both came to perfection, and we were stuffed by the time dessert rolled around(which we got as well.) The waitstaff was friendly and eager, and the place reminded me of a lot of the places I grew up with in SoCal. This may very well be our regular Mexican place.

I love, love, love this place. The lunch menu is very well priced. I have had lots of things on the menu and they were all very yummy. I would defiantly recommend this place if you want good Mexican food. Even my daughter loved the food. I will always come here for Mexican food.

Their chicken nachos appetizer is delicious! A nice large portion for the price. I love getting them as take out, but their outdide seating always looks inviting.

Came here totally randomly… I was stoping at the near-by Target to get some road supplies when I felt the need to grab a bite. It was noon, so it made sense. I then looked around and saw«Las Trancas» in the same strip mall complex. I was expecting more of a Taqueria but this place is really a full restaurant. Now, my expectation are never really high for Mexican food on the east coast but this place is decent. I had a plate with three enchiladas, salad, rice, guacamole, all served with complementaries chip and salsa and it was quite good,. it was also way too big, I should have eaten half and take the rest away. The whole thing was around $ 10(they have cheaper lunch options). It is a nice and comfortable restaurant and the service was fast and friendly. Very convenient stop in Winchester when driving up and down the coast as it is right next to I-81.

Food was okay, but had 3 – 4 different servers, a few didn’t speak English. It took FOREVER to get a few tacos. My friends actually had food poisoning from the place a few weeks back. Be forewarned.

1st visit here & had my 1 year old with me. Server was interactive & friendly with my baby. Was attentive & prompt. I had the stuffed chicken breast with mango salsa on top– delish! Food is good. Place is clean with friendly staff. If you are looking for American — Mexican food, this place won’t disappoint.

Jeepers. Where to start? I visited my father in Winchester/Front Royal two weekends ago. On what was to be the last night of my trip, my father suggested that we grab some Mexican at Las Trancas, a relatively new-to-him restaurant. At first blush, nothing seemed awry: the restaurant appeared to have a typical Mexican restaurant décor, and was relatively packed for a Sunday with a refried bean loving crowd. But pretty quickly, it became very clear that multiple staff were either a) exhausted and defeated from the weekend, b) couldn’t stand the sight of our portly, lard craved faces, or c) all of the above. Our waiter, by contrast, did go out of his way to pour on the charm when it counted, but no one else who helped us said a word or broke a smile. The experience was odd, and certainly didn’t make me feel good about being there. The food was standard fare. As I intended to drive home to Ohio the next day, I didn’t get a chance to sample any of their drinks. I ordered some chicken fajitas, which came with the typical pico de gallo, guac, lettuce, sour cream, beans, toasty tortillas, and rice. I skipped the rice and tortillas, and mowed down some greasy meat and veggies in their place. Fast forward to 11:30 p.m.– OHMYFREAKINGGAWD! I hit the bed early, anxious to get an early start the next day, when I woke up with the most agonizing abdominal pain I have ever encountered in my life. Unable to sleep or sit comfortably, I finally called my father around 3 a.m., and asked him to take me to the nearest hospital. While the ER staff couldn’t call it food poisoning without testing some things you really shouldn’t mention in a restaurant review, they weren’t quick to rule it out. And while it is not fair for me to claim the same in the context of this review, the physical pain and lackluster service won’t be something I seek out during my next trip to the area. Over and very out.

Great food and great service. We always enjoy a stop here when north of town. Food and menu is like the rancho in winchester. Always consistently good. I’ve never been disappointed when hankering for some texmex

Went in solo for lunch last week and the server was prompt and attentive. The ambiance is warm, and the décor and music were very nice. A big basket of fresh, fried in-house tortilla chips and bowl of salsa were brought out immediately. I had the enchiladas with traditional red sauce, sides were rice and refried beans. Everything tasted fine. Both the rice and refried beans were plain flavor-wise, but the texture of each was perfect. The rice was fluffy, and the beans were creamy.

Very fine qaulity food… I’m no food expert but I do know good food, service, price point, hospitality, manners and a clean environment when I see it. Not including the portions were large and salsa in large bowls which I love my salsa.

Fantastic quality food and the lunch specials are a great value. The service is okay. Sometimes you’ll get a very friendly/helpful waiter and the next visit you’ll get one who just goes through the motions. That doesn’t really bother me, you go out to eat for the food. Try the beef queso, so good!

As mentioned in my tip, the menu is exactly like El Ranchero, the food really, was not. Their tortilla soup is not as flavorful as El Ranchero, their chicken not as tasty. I also got the enchiladas verdes, also known as enchiladas with spicy green sauce, came with rice. The sauce was runny and the rice was tasteless. I finished them as the meat in the enchiladas was good; but everything else was just average. It comes with chips and salsa, but quite frankly, I wasn’t feeling them, so I threw them away. Oh, the guacamole on the meal was very good. That helped. Don’t think I’ll be back here in the future, but at least I learned more by trying it.

My experiance was much different than other posters while visiting the newly opened Las Trancas. Both my wife and I found the service excellent and the food quite good. We arrived at peak lunch hour. It was quite busy and we were seated promptly, shortly after a large basket of chips & salsa arrived. We order our drinks and a bowl of cheese dip. The dip was excellent. My wife ordered the Carnitas and I the Enchiladas Verdes. Both were quite good, the Verde sauce was a bit of a turn off being such a bright green, the flavor was very good. The Carnitas were also good, maybe just slightly under seasoned. Both came with rice and beans and cooked very well. Everything arrived hot. Portions were very fair. Inside you find everything very clean. There is also a nice bar area with TV’s. Las Trancas serves well above average Mexican at a fair price. I look forward to going back.
