Early arrival on a Saturday morning allowed us to have options inside or outside for a quick seating to fuel our hungry stomachs. Outside you will find a beautiful array of tables but not all are free from the sun rays that constantly beat down on the table in the morning. Luckily ours was shaded by an umbrella. As they say the early bird gets the worm! But that did not stop other families from being brave and sitting in the sun to quickly realizing they would not survive. Instead they would continuously look over at my table, acting like vultures waiting for me to finish and move. Some even had the audacity to ask if they could move our umbrella over to their table. I guess some of us just have a larger sense of self entitlement than others. Those Florida veterans should know better than to even think of sitting in sun, and leave others to enjoy their breakfast in peace. That is my largest complaint, nothing to do with Dixie Cream but the patrons that visit making it uncomfortable to enjoy a meal without the constant glare. Although, I was pretty happy chowing down my Espanola omelette. A monstrous portions of egg, filled with green peppers, chorizo, and a gooey cheese center that melted between eggs. Paired with breakfast potatoes, that were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside and a gigantic biscuit the size of my hand, and incredibly fluffy. My friend choose the French Toast, also another generous portion and smothered in delicious butter and cinnamon. For drinks it seems as if the mimosa is the crowds favorite and to my delight they have a noticeably large menu of espresso drinks but I chose the regular house coffee this time. Our server was attentive but not extremely personable. As many have noted this is an extremely busy café with high demanding clients waiting to be served on the weekend. That doesn’t take away from the quirky, fun atmosphere Dixie Cream has tried to create and the delicious portions of food they serve.

So this is one of those places that I’ve driven by several times, but just never gave them a chance since I have a couple breakfast spots that are a bit closer. Well, that changed this past weekend when my fiancé and I stopped by for breakfast. The friendly hostess greeted us upon entering, took my name and offered us some coffee while we waited, nice touch. It was only a 10 minute wait(not bad for weekend morning), but we were able to witness how friendly and social the hostess was with all customers. I mention this to highlight the difference between her and our eventual waitress; just not much of a personality. To be fair, she did seem busy, but I don’t know, it just took away from the ‘small town charm’ that was present throughout the restaurant. After sipping on some coffee, we eventually chose their Chicken n’ grits and Salmon & Bagel platter. The meals were ok, but nothing that would warrant a return. The portions were just fine, the grits were nice, but my chicken was bland. I found it necessary to pour hot sauce all over my plate to get the correct level of seasoning. My meal did come with an enormous biscuit which was awesome; it was the perfect tool used to soak up some of the gravy. I wasn’t able to taste any of the salmon, but it didn’t seem to be impressive. What was impressive from that dish was the whipped chive infused cream cheese, definitely a good topping for their toasted bagel. Overall, just an average meal in a nice looking restaurant. I may return to give their food and service another shot.

Not bad at all. Had the chicken and grits! Great. Could only eat half it was such a generous portion.

Currently sitting at the table, it’s been 45 minutes since we ordered food. Waiter brought the kids food and it’s cold.

5 stars all the way. These are the BESTBISCUITS in all of the land!!! Whatever you order order a biscuit on the side, absolutist addicting. The owner Stephanie is always so welcoming and she has a great staff! My favorite meals here: Brisket Hash with a biscuit OR the blueberry ricotta pancakes.

This is a charming café right in downtown Windermere. I’m old enough to remember this space not only as a convenience store, but also as the post office that preceded it. So it’s odd that I’ve driven past hundreds of times, but only just finally stopped in to check it out. It definitely exceeded my expectations. There’s counter service for freshly made pastries, coffees, and other beverages, and sit down dining in several areas: the restaurant proper, high tops in the area near the coffee bar, and covered tables outside along the porch. Each offers a different ambiance. The comprehensive menu includes coffee shop standards with an emphasis on breakfast, and more café-like items including artisan sandwiches and gourmet burgers. Fish tacos and other eclectic fare round out the diverse offerings. I opted for the BL(FG)T, which is a unique version of a BLT using fried green tomatoes. It was delicious, especially the toasted multi-grain bread. I opted to upgrade my side to a mixed green salad, which was served on the same plate. It had a nice mix of greens and an excellent blue cheese dressing. A very fresh coconut macaroon was the perfect dessert. Service was very friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other interesting lunch dishes, and to check out breakfast.

I’m so happy to have driven out of my way to dine here. Pulling up in my car, I couldn’t believe how cute this place is. They have groovy-looking lime chairs, bright red umbrellas, cute flower boxes and there are bright green and red adirondack chairs out front to relax in. I sat outside on the patio since it was a beautiful day and read their giant menu. They also gave me a decent sized list of specials of the day as well. So there are a lot of options to choose from. I chose a simple dish of scrambled egg whites, turkey sausage, fruit(extra charge) and a big giant biscuit. Everything was great. The highlight was the biscuit. It’s one of the best that I’ve ever had. Perfectly crispy outside and fluffy on the inside. It tasted heavenly with the honey I drizzled on it. Honey is a must if you have this biscuit. And they conveniently leave a bottle of honey on each of the tables. Service was a little slow since I was the only one outside but they were so nice. I think I’ll make this one of my staples to visit whenever I’m in the area.

I love Dixie Cream and come for brunch at least once a month. Today I had a strange experience of literally being driven out of my seat and out the door because apparently lingering during a casual brunch is unacceptable. I’ve actually had the waitress multiple times with positive results, and she was great while we were eating on her schedule. Our food came out a little before 10, we finished around 1030 and paid. At 1045 she came over and shoved her face in my face asking if there was anything else she ccould get us. I said no thank you, and she said«Sunday is busy and it’s a bad day to catch up we have people waiting». I was catching up with a friend who had been overseas for 2 years. Her demeanor and attitude were extremely disappointing, and I’m quite frankly turned off of this establishment.

Our friends and I just departed Dixie Cream and we had an amazing lunch. Brisket hash is the best I’ve ever had. And the biscuits were light and fluffy. We will be back!

After moving down from Ohio this past summer, I’ve been looking for a good local breakfast/lunch restaurant that took it a bit above a greasy spoon. Until this past weekend, I hadn’t had any luck. Now I’ve found just that place. The brisket hash and 38 Special Omelette were very tasty and satisfying. Their homemade buttermilk biscuits might be the best in town! Even though it was a very busy Saturday and there was an event going on up the street, the staff were efficient and very friendly. I can’t wait to go back and bring more folks to share this great place with.

I’m writing this review, but it’s hard to stay awake. I feel like I’ve eaten so much, thanks to the Dixie Cream Café. They’re open Tuesday through Sunday 8:30 A.M. — 2:30 P.M.(Note, Dixie Cream is closed on Mondays.) FOOD: There’s so much variety. It was hard figuring out what to order, but no one was disappointed with their meal. We ordered our mimosas, which were promptly delivered to us. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a half-order of biscuits and gravy. Oh. My. Goodness. I really enjoyed everything about this meal. After finishing my mimosa, I was craving some caffeine, so I ordered the vanilla bean latte. So delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals, so I think that’s saying something. I can’t wait to come back to try the other things on the menu. SERVICE: Our server was nice. She was polite and was able to answer our questions.(It was our first time at Dixie Cream, so we weren’t sure what to expect.) After reading some of the reviews, I think people should take into account that this is a small, local restaurant, as opposed to a chain restaurant. Yes, things may take some time. I didn’t think it took too long for our food to arrive(15 to 20 minutes after ordering). We weren’t in a rush. ATMOSPHERE: We sat outside, so I didn’t see the inside for seating purposes. There’s a few tables outside.(We had a bee that seemed to enjoy hovering around to listen to our conversation.) It was a pretty neat local brunch place. The line did get pretty long later in the day. We arrived around 10:30 A.M., and by 12:00 P.M., there were people waiting outside for tables.(I don’t know whether there is a waiting area for people inside.) Yes, I’m definitely a fan and am adding Dixie Cream Café to my repertoire of brunch places. TIPS: — Some of their dishes can be ordered as a half-order. Makes it easier if you want to try a few different things. — Get here early to avoid the lines. — Check out the menu online. There are so many choices!

Wow, i have been here several times before but this one took the cake. The fries came out totally cold and over cooked! Mayo was warm in small dish, wish shows me that it sat out a while already. I love this location and atmosphere and so disappointed today. They must have a new cook:((((

My boyfriend and I have been on a mission to try out some of the best brunch spots in Orlando and this one popped up on the list. I am so glad it did because it was just delicious! Dixie Cream is located in a small complex off Main Street in Windermere. It is actually right across the street from my dentist. I wish they were open later so I could go after the dentist! Anyway, they don’t take reservations and we wanted to beat the after church rush so we got there about 10:30. We were told it would be about a 15 minute wait. It was only about 5 minutes. We sat at a high top near the cash register, which became a problem later as many people grabbing coffee and muffins gathered around our table. I had read the Unilocal reviews so I ordered a Passion Fruit tea. It was sooo good. Now, I am a southerner so I like my tea saccharine sweet, so despite what others said I put a packet of sweet n low in it and just thought it was outstanding. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and grits. It was so good. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The grits were creamy. The gravy had big chunks of sausage, though the biscuit was just ok. I ordered the banana’s foster French toast. Our waitress smartly advised me to order the ½ portion. The smaller portions are not on the menu, but she said she can ½ just about anything with only a couple of exceptions. I’m so glad she suggested this because I couldn’t even finish the ½ portion. It was so good, but extremely decadent. The menu is pretty extensive. I had a terrible time trying to decide what to order. Prices were totally reasonable too. My bf said he knew I really liked it because before we left I was already talking about what I would order next time. I can’t wait to go back. It’s totally worth the drive out to Windermere.

I came here for brunch on New Year’s Eve with a large party. We were seated promptly at 10:30, but it was very full when we left at 12:30. Everyone at our table for something different, and everyone’s food looked delightful. I got the tomato and goat cheese omelet, which came with fried potatoes and a biscuit. The omelet was wonderful; it was fluffy and not at all watery, which can be hard to accomplish with tomatoes. The potatoes were also really, really good, but they needed some salt and ketchup. But the biscuit! Yum! The biscuit was huge, and in the perfect southern style was flaky and tender. After tip I paid $ 17, which is on the far upper end of what I’m willing to pay for a breakfast. The food was good, and the portion was large, but I give four stars for the price, which I think was a bit high.

We went for Sunday breakfast. The food was very good, the coffee both regular and decaf can be better. I had The Lew sharp creamy feta, spinach, diced tomatoes and Kalamata olives include are breakfast potatoes and buttermilk biscuits. My wife had the smoked brisket hash with two beautifully poached eggs and also buttermilk biscuit. Our friend had bananas Forsters French toast. Our waitress was excellent both sweet and attentive. Other than the coffee every thing was perfect. We absolutely intend to visit again. But, not order coffee.

I love helping small businesses and definitely try to find local businesses that serve great breakfast and brunch items. This restaurant is just okay in my opinion. The nice quaint setting reminds me of a key west style restaurant but the food was just mediocre. Nothing special. Probably won’t be returning.

Love this place. I have to be in Windermere once a week and can’t believe I just discovered it. The super nice lady, who may be the manager, seated me and took my order and once I mentioned I had to leave suddenly, she brought me a box, more tea, a cap for my ranch dressing — instantly! I can’t wait to be back for another BLT or maybe try something new!

Bottom Line Up Front: Won’t be returning based solely on my interaction with the owner/manager after finishing my meal. Went with a friend to what was suppose to be a «cute» brunch spot. Upon arrival, were given a 20 min wait time that ended up being 40. We checked in twice to make sure we were still on the list and were promised that we were next to be seated. Wasn’t too upset until the owner justified our delay by telling us that all her tables cleared up at once. Nice try, but it really wasn’t the case. Strike 1. Order our food. Went with the Huevos Rancheros Grande. My only complaint would be if you’re gonna call something«grande», I’m expecting a large portion, specially at $ 13. After one bite the owner walks by and without even stopping asks us how our food was, says«Yum?» and walks away. Not the worst, but a little annoying since I was gonna ask for a coffee refill(by the way, server hasn’t been back to the table since taking our order). I finish first and my friend, who ordered a breakfast burrito, is literally only halfway done with his meal and still eating. Server takes my plate and asks my friend if he’d like a box for his food. My friend says he’s still working on it and he’ll think about it. The server’s response? «So… no box?» My friend had to repeat himself that he was still eating and would need a minute. Strike 2. A few minutes later, the server returns and asks if we would like one check or two. He finishes his own question with«One?» I tell him, no, two please. Server promptly returns with two check books. My friend is still eating his food, and I still haven’t gotten my coffee refill. At one point, I was contemplating getting a mimosa, or dessert, but my appetite is gone at this point and I just want to get out of this place. My friend finally finishes and someone else stops by to get the checkbooks. I ask for more coffee and she happily serves us. She gives us our cards back and I decide to relay my experience to the owner. Not in a aggravated or rude sort of way, but just in a sort of «heads up: I didn’t have the best experience here and I thought I’d let you know». I get to the host stand and ask for the manager. She comes out and I relay my experience to her. I let her know that I felt rushed as a customer and didn’t have the best customer experience. The owner(who has her arms folded across her chest the entire time I’m talking to her), proceeds to tell ME that I’M wrong, and that the server didn’t mean that at all. The owner claimed she knows the server and he would never intend to be dismissive or rush us. Yet here I am telling you that is how I, the paying customer, felt. She tries to deflate my argument by showing me the waiting area(which at this very movement had JUST become cleared of people) and saying, «well, its not like we needed your table». She proceeds to ask me if I’ve ever been in «the industry», I say yes, but I got out. She retorts with«well, then you know how difficult it can be to manage the timing of the guest with service. We want to give out customers a chance to talk without pestering them. Besides, I asked you how your food was and you said everything was great»(WHICH I DIDNOT!) Strike 3. Long story short, I feel like this local hot spot has gotten it claim to fame simply by being the only place in town. It’s easy to be a big fish in a small pond when there’s no one to compete with. This place is not worth the time or money and definitely not worth the headache.
