Came here during lunch from work a lot of the time and I ended up applying for a job here because I love it. It’s a quieter sports bar not the loud can’t hear yourself yells of gators. However, on weekends and game nights it’s busy. The service is fantastic and the food is tasty. I’m not a picky person but I always have fun here with my friends because it’s better than being cramped up at a different sports bar!

Hmmm, sports bar? I’ll call this Ale House without a pulse and all the noisy rabble. However, at least Ale House employees are nicer and more attentive. I imagine this place doesn’t get much business as the employees didn’t appeared to be inclined to hustle for a tip. I leave it at that. I could have definitely thought of a better location to put this business. The gateway to Isleworth, which has plenty of little eateries with lots of character, this corner is definitely not the spot for a common sports bar in my humble opinion. You also aren’t going to spot this place off the rip either. Its tucked back out of view and actually used to be a Perkin’s. The Perkins was always busy and I think it would be a great idea to bring it back. I had the«surf & turf» burger which had some tasty lobster chunks, cheese and dash of lobster bisque. It was also accompanied by a shrimp skewer. It was a tasty burger. My overall opinion; sports bars are quickly falling into the«been there, done that, over it» category. This place was another lackluster endeavor to reinvigorate a scene that America has grown weary of. There was no life in this place and it seemed the employees were just going through the motions half-heartedly. Meh…

It’s a place with potential. It has a bar/restaurant feeling to it. The decorations are cool which kids would love and enjoy. When it comes to the menu I was hoping for something more. The service was awesome. There’s just something about the place that trying it once is just enough. I understand this place is still somewhat new but something is missing for it to be at its full potential.

Went yesterday for lunch. Service was good, ambiance was fun, I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich and asparagus, I liked it. My husband had a club and wasn’t impressed. The appetizers(onion rings and cheese fries) were just ok. Overall I might return but it won’t be on our regular list.

We will not return. Excited about trying a new neighborhood place, we were let down. Most notably, there was no sincerity or friendliness from the staff. The host walked over to a table and tossed menus down with a «there you go.» The server made no eye contact and spoke with a bothered tone. The manager walked around huffing with a scowl on his face and could be heard complaining about his staff’s incompetence in the kitchen. Everyone just seemed bitter. The service was mechanical and inattentive. The draft beer selection was adequate, but the bartender had no idea how to pour a pint of Guinness and the taste was off because of it. I think this was the first time in my life I didn’t finish a beer. The corned beef on my reuben was decent, but the kraut was blah. My wife’s burger was from a frozen patty and tasteless. The fries were hot. Looking around, most of the decorations were dusty. The air felt greasy, too.

Stopped by for a lunch bite, having heard of the weekday lunch«specials». Turns out there is only a single item that is offered as «special» each day, typically a sandwich or such. On this visit it happened to be «Chili Salad» day, not exactly an appetizing initial mental image! The knowledgeable server later explained, «that most places call it taco salad» and went on to detail the contents. The extra info was helpful, but the initial menu item listing had already made the mental determination that this was not going to be MY special Day! With attention turned to the rather adventurous all-day menu(from sandwiches to ribs and nachos to risotto) I opt for the«½ Pound Angus Burger»($ 8.29). A pretty good burger served open face on a Kaiser roll with a fair portion of house-made fries and traditional garnish alongside. Bread was fresh, fries brown(but limp) and garnish lean. A nice quarter-slice of deli-style dill pickle, but only a single ring of onion, leaf of lettuce and tomato slice. The burger was cooked perfectly to order and a quite tasty choice that might be considered a real score if served with another ring or two of onion and a couple of lettuce leafs. I asked about a small ‘side salad’ to accompany the burger plate and was directed to the«MVP’s House Salad»($ 4.29) as my only choice. A host of nice toppings(tomato, bacon, onion, cheddar, croutons, egg) that were unfortunately resting pretty atop a poor bed of brown-tinged ‘Iceberg from the bag’. The dressing is a fair quality, but overall, the salad is another ALMOST home run that fell just left of fair play. Throw in an Iced Tea($ 1.99) beverage and sales tax on the tab along with appropriate gratuity for good service(and it was) and you’re dropping nearly $ 20.00 for a lunch-time burger, fries & side salad. We found the floor staff to be friendly & attentive, the furnishings clean, a ton of HDTV screens and an atmosphere of coolness(not the hip kind) in the room that seems to lack the«soul» of a typical neighborhood sports bar & grill.

Ate here with some friends, one of which who was in town from NY. We had a few pitchers and watched the NFL draft. I ordered the loaded fries and also had a burger. Honestly everything was very average. I can’t say anything bad about the service, prices, food, or atmosphere but I also can’t say anything great about them either. I may or may not come back here, I might give it another shot just because its not far.

I was thrilled to see that the space formerly occupied by Perkins at the intersection of Conroy-Windermere and Apopka-Vineland had been leased to a sports bar. Sadly, the great anticipation that preceded the opening of MVPs Clubhouse and Restaurant only made my experience there all the worse. I went to MVPs three days ago so my one-star review(a first for me, I think), is both well considered and reinforced by the passage of time. Our first impression — the parking lot — offered a good sign. The parking lot was full and there were a lot of people entering and exiting the building. The interior space of the establishment has not changed much since Perkins occupied the space. There is nothing intimate about it. Lots of open space filled with tables and booths. What used to the bar and cashier stand at Perkins is now a true bar. Dozens of TVs line the perimeter walls, but the sight lines are not conducive to viewing(Gator’s did a much better job with its design.) Service was average but our server was friendly. Indeed, I cannot complain about any of the staff we encountered during our meal. My party of three started with nachos. The nachos were greasy with far too much cheese and not enough of any other condiment. A pitiful portion of guac and sour cream were served in plastic containers on the side and, although I asked for«lots of jalapeño peppers on the side» I received only a few. Jalapeño peppers are not a drain on the bottom line so the restaurant should have happily provided more. I ordered a mahi sandwich with onion rings. The onion rings were a gastric abomination — far too greasy, flavorless and horribly textured. To be fair, the mahi was sufficiently fresh and adequately prepared but after my first onion ring, my taste buds were shot. My companions ordered burgers with fries. Although the fries were hand cut, they were limp and somewhat flavorless. Neither finished their burgers and both tossed their take-home containers when we got to our next destination. Suffice it to say that soon thereafter, my entire party experienced somewhat severe gastric distress and one of my companions did not eat anything for the next day while he «recovered.» I do not give a one star review lightly but for me, there is not even a kernel of potential in MVPs. As a result, I cannot imagine a reason why I would return.
