Have just returned from another fun family reunion at The Thompson House. Friendly? These people must have invented the word! No special request or need is too small. Whether you enjoy a relaxing vacation, hiking, biking, or a reunion, this is the place to be. Every room is different, and every room is spotless, where«modern meets country charm.» My only regret is that I could not spend a few more days to take in the fabulous fall foliage. Looking forward to next year.

First off — the comments about the rooms appearing dated are accurate, as they are done in an early american/colonial style, which I found to be warm and inviting. Just don’t think that you’re checking in at the Belagio in Vegas. That said, I highly recommend the Thompson House if you’re staying locally. My wife and I were there for a wedding over the weekend, and the rooms are very clean, comfortable & quaint. We were in an «Evergreen Lodge» room, and had a few lawn chairs in our own private outdoor space facing the Windham Country Club, a stone’s throw from the golf course. It was very relaxing to sit outside watching some golf for a few minutes between the weekend’s events. The beds were comfortable(and, again, CLEAN!) and we slept very well. We also experienced a bit of drama when we first pulled into the parking lot to check in. A woman had run over one of the concrete dividers, which had become lodged under her car. She was quite upset, but a couple of the hotel managers came running out, comforting her and quickly freeing her car. They were so nice! Many of the wedding guests talked about how much they enjoyed the pool area, and the complimentary breakfast is a nice way to start the day. In short, a comfortable, clean, quaint little retreat with a friendly, accommodating staff. And rest easy in the knowledge that in the event of a crisis(such as getting your car stuck on a large piece of concrete), the staff is up to the task!

Had a nice, first time visit here. Staff was pleasant and friendly. Hotel and room were very, very clean. It does need some updating though — I would start with the water treatment which did smell like rotten eggs both from the shower and the sink, the taste stays in your mouth after you brush your teeth. All the fixtures need updating, etc. Having said that, the bed was very comfortable, and I can’t stress how clean the whole place was, from the lobby area to our room, even outdoors. This would be a great place to bring a group or family reunion, nice looking pool outside. I’m sorry we didn’t stay long enough to have a meal. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I have three major issues with this hotel: not friendly, doesn’t honor billing methods advertised, and not clean. 1: The staff in the main office have no idea that they are working in the hospitality industry. They are rude, unfriendly, skip phrases like welcome and thank you. I was not asked if I liked my stay, and it was clear that charging my credit card was the highest priority… I have no problems paying my bills and they just seemed to make this a confrontational issue for no reason!!! 2: I made my reservation though using my American Express card. The hotel staff called my «work number» instead of my cell number to inform me that they were going to refuse to charge my American Express card after my reservation was confirmed on . Luckily I called the hotel to verify my reservation and the hotel staff then demanded another card from me with no apology stating they they«do not accept American Express». Obviously this hotel is not in compliance with Priceline policy and is violating their agreement. I will take this up with Priceline as well! 3: if you like killing flies in your room in the middle of winter you will love your room! Because I killed three flies in my room and was amazed to see them with snow on the ground outside! This hotel will advertise old charm but I would say its better said that this hotel is old and falling apart. In summary If you don’t expect hotel staff to smile or respect you, honor your reservation made through 3rd parties, or the billing methods that they are elected to accept then is is the hotel for you! E bugs in your room are just a bonus!!!
