Office Depot

I had malware affecting my computer and got it fixed in one day at Office Depot! Technician named Michael gave me great service, fixed the computer, showed me some other issues, was professional, courteous and very competent! Highly recommend! $ 159.00 worth every penny.

Worst customer service. No one came over to help. Finally tracked down an employee. Asked about a discount on a display item and he said no. I asked to speak to the manager and the employee asked the manager by intercom the same question. Never saw the manager. Is she hiding? When a customer asks to speak to the manager, just get the manager. Doh. Will just shop somewhere else from now on.

I sure wish I’d read some of these abysmal reviews before I went there this evening. Website says this store does shredding. I called ahead and was told that if I had less than 50 pounds to shred they would do it while I waited, and they weren’t busy so it was a good time to go. I struggled to schlep my laundry basket of paper in and hoist it onto the counter while 3 young male employees watched. There were 4 employees: 3 were standing around, but I was told I had to wait for one clerk who was involved in a lengthy transaction with the only other customer in the store. (One employee said he was a technician and didn’t do menial work, and two said they weren’t trained on shredding procedures. Wow, shredding procedures??) I waited for 10 minutes for the clerk to finish with the other customer, and I prodded another of the male clerks to put my basket on the scale. 32.7 pounds. I asked how much he was going to subtract for the weight of the laundry basket, and he said he had no idea. I suggested that he weigh the laundry basket after it was empty and subtract the weight from the 32.7 pounds. (I guess he wasn’t trained in weighing procedures.) The harried woman clerk started shredding. Their «commercial» shredder takes 5 pages at a time, the same as a good home shredder. She shredded about 100 pages and the shredder stopped. Kick the shredder several times, fiddle with the controls. Oops, the bag is full. Where are the empty bags? The manager didn’t know. Let’s text the manager’s boss! After milling around for several minutes waiting for the off-​site manager to text back, the one clerk who has a marble in her head thought to empty the full bag into a trash can, and replace the empty bag in the shredder. After that pause in the action, we were back in business. At some point the principle of the thing (and the sheer absurdity) kicked in, and I was NOT leaving until the shredding was done. An hour and 25 minutes after I walked in the store, my laundry basket and I exited. Never to return.
Why oh why would a store advertise a service that they clearly aren’t set up to provide? Ridiculous. Avoid this place like the plague.

Don’t waste your money on their extended warranties!!! Buy somewhere else.
They wouldn’t replace my printer when it broke within 5 months of purchase, and I had purchased their extended warranty!
They wanted me to ship it to Brother.

The worst, no one knows anything, waited over a half hour for business cards. When I walked in the floor person didn’t even know where to direct me and the poor girl at the register who probably had to report to him had a look on her face of «really» towards him like (am I really working for this nincompoop) then he came back to earth and understood that I wanted business cards printed and directed me to the so called business counter where the girl working the printer could not get a passport photo copied for the next 15 minutes.
Then the guy who was suppose to be the expert in the biz card area was just overwhelmed, he tried to ring someone up in the middle of working with me, at that point I realized I knew more than he did and it was a waste of my time and left.
Why don’t they do one of two things 1) hire some of the great people out there with skills and pay them decent dollars for that skill set, or 2) just close the doors. This is not a business it is a comedy of errors, just ridiculous !!!

As a business owner, I have shopped at Office Depot (Windsor) for years. Unfortunately, I feel the need to «vent» on Unilocal my frustration with the store, and in particular with Nikki, the Store Manager. I was just at Office Depot to purchase office supplies for my business, and the computer system was partly down and I was not able to purchase my supplies as I think they may have totalled over $ 100. It took me approximately 45 minutes/​1 hour of my time to gather my needed items in the store.
Totally understanding that Office Depot’s computer system was not functioning properly, and appreciating that that can happen, I asked Nikki if she could «HOLD» my items for me, place them in an area of the store, possibly the storeroom, whatever, that I would be happy to secure them with my credit card, and that when their system is up and running I will return and pay for them later in the day. Her response was, and she was adamant about it, that that was not possible, that she would have to do that for everyone if she did it for me.
I am a loyal customer, a Windsor resident, my husband and I are both business people and have shopped at Office Depot for years, and I am shocked by the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE exhibited by the «OFFICE MANAGER. » Most stores will hold items for you if requested … Safeway, Wal-​Mart … they will place them in a secure area, a storeroom or area of the store for a few hours, and then if for some reason the customer doesn’t pick them up, they will restock the items.
You’d think, under the circumstances, Office Depot’s system being down, that Nikki would have accommodated the customer … RIDICULOUS!!!

These guys are always available. They have people on the floor to help and answer questions. They are knowledgeable about tech and equipment. They are also knowledgable about discounts. Store is always clean and well-​presented.

Floor help is minimal. OW just another big box store. Would rather go here than Walmart for the same stuff, though.
