Average food. Average atmosphere. Average beer selection. Nothing special, but service and food were ok. Average all around.

Been here a few times. Had decent experiences but nothing incredible. Went again tonight to meet up with a friend. We sat at the bar and the bartender came right over. We ordered drinks and asked to see a menu. We chatted and about 25 mins later– when the bartender, Lynne, hadn’t come back over to us– asked if «when she had a chance» we could place an order. We had to repeat ourselves because she made no attempt to acknowledge us as she was filling drinks and sfter the second time, with attitude dripping said«Yea, in a minute.» We were taken aback. The bar wasn’t crowded, maybe 10 people total. She came to take our order and when the server delivered it, he was kind– the food was great– and we enjoyed it. 30 mins after finishing our drinks and our food we attempted to catch Lynne’s attention. She ignored us and continued to service the people who kept coming up the the bar and talking with those who were clearly regulars. My friend asked if we could have the check please over the crowded noise of those standing behind us and to the side. Lynne gave a clipped«ya» and proceeded to serve others for 5 minutes before cashing us out. If the bar had been crazy and over crowded I could understand being flustered. However it was a Monday, not crazy and the service we received was very disappointing. It’s a shame because the food was delicious. But when you have faces out front who are rude, you lose clientele.

Well this place isn’t too bad! In fact, it’s probably one of the better Windsor restaurants nowadays. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the menu is pretty typical American fare. I came for lunch with my mother and we both got sandwiches. I got the Honey Dijon Chicken Sandwich and it was good — the chicken was very crispy and very moist. Overall, I was very happy with my meal. I’d definitely come back again when meeting my Mom for a quick lunch(Windsor is a great halfway point!)

Had a marvelous time. $ 5 margaritas that didn’t taste like cheap happy hour margaritas. Food was universally raved about by everyone in our party.

Sometimes this place is too cold. The sweet potato fries make up for it. My friend doesn’t like the cola soda but I think it’s super. Steak and cheese is great. One time I had a chicken sandwich though and the avocados did not look so good.

I was hosting a meeting in the area and looking for a casual place with excellent food. The Union Street Tavern was an excellent choice! The size of our group was big enough that they set us up in a private room upstairs, so we had a nice, quiet space. Our server was excellent and very attentive to everyone’s needs. The appetizers came out quickly and were fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meals without a single complaint, and the entire evening was everything we had hoped for. I hope to plan another meeting in the area, so we can come back here!

This place is awesome. Great atmosphere, live music some weekends, decent beer selection on tap, and the food is outstanding. Their wraps/sandwiches are really unique, and all the ingredients they use are very fresh. I highly recommend this place for lunch, dinner, or drinks!

Been here a couple of times. Really cool place with a friendly staff, nice atmosphere and about 15 beers on tap. Can’t comment on the food so this review is based on the drinks and service alone. Came here before the St. Pattys event in downtown Hartford to grab a couple of drinks. Their bloody marys are really well made. The beer selection had a beer for every taste and prices were fair. Probably one of the better choices in Windsor! Will be back.

Stopped in for dinner. Really nice dinner environment. The service was o.k., not great. Went with the steak with lobster topping. It was pretty good, not great. It came with a side of potato cake, which again was good but didn’t knock my socks off. Not sure if I would return. Reminded me of the feeling I have when I leave Applebees :(

Great food(especially the nachos!), a decent drink selection, and a really cool building. Happy hour is fair, with a rotating beer menu, but from what I saw, no food specials. Also, get there early, as the parking is sparse, and the wait can be pretty long to get a table. Overall, I had a great experience and would come back again.

Very good food and a fun atmosphere! The Union Street tavern is one of the places I always go to when in Windsor, and would take others to when they are in town. The menu is large, and anyone can find something they like — whether seafood, a burger, salad or steak. The restaurant is located in an old firehouse, and has lots of pictures of Connecticut throughout history, including photos of old buildings, farms and sports teams. It’s fun to look at the pictures, and see if you recognize any of the places! The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, with plenty of space for each table. The food is very good! The steaks are tender with delicious marinades, definitely get one if you’re in the mood for a large dinner. Yesterday I got the beef kabobs and they tasted fantastic: there was a nice balsamic marinade and grilled peppers, onions, mushrooms with that tiny amount of char around the edges that gives them a delicious straight-off-the-grill flavor. The rice was also flavored and very good. You can also get simpler food for lunch or a more casual dinner. The burgers are juicy with great grilled mushrooms and onions, and gluten-free rolls are available. The salads are fresh for a good lighter option. The portions are good, and everything tastes fresh. The service also makes the experience enjoyable; the waiters are accommodating of food allergies and quick in bringing food and drinks. Sometimes you may have to wait a bit to get seated for dinner, and the bar can get a bit crowded, though I’ve found the hostess is generally up front and accurate about how long the wait will be. Great place to go for a fun atmosphere and delicious food that anyone can enjoy!

The location of Union Street Tavern is tucked away, so it is not the easiest place to find, but it’s 2015 and we all have GPS, so who cares. UST is in an old firehouse, so the environment is pretty cool. Downstairs is a little bit cramped, but the upstairs in very nice. The food is pretty good, too. I don’t know if there are any superstars on the menu, but the overall quality is good. I could come back here for some beers, wings and moss sticks and be content. If you want dinner, they have tons of bar type entrees, sandwiches and wraps. UST is simple, but it is done well and in a cool environment.

Ok I have not even gotten my food, but based on Shauna’s salad, THEROLLS, my soup and the service 5 stars! My steak, stuffed potato and fresh vegetables were terrific. Our server was Sam. She was great

Only stopped by here for a couple of drinks. Great atmosphere, and apparently the food is awesome, so I am going to try to get back in the next evening or so. Update — Came back, and ate. Very good overall experience, food was well cooked, and service good.

Nice little pub! Food was terrific, drinks good, even found nice Chardonnay I hadn’t heard of before. Had a nice moment to relate: Walked in the wrong door, and past the hostess by accident. Found the nearest waitress to ask about a table for one. She said anywhere you’d like, and gestured to a high top with a sign saying«reserved for parties of four or more» I pointed out that we would be breaking the rule, and she replied«that doesn’t matter, we are just glad you came in». That is so cool.

A few co-workers and I were from out of town and this place was recommended to us. Old firehouse now converted into a restaurant. Great tavern look and cool décor with some homage to the firefighters, neat little prohibition items and a good mix of old & new for the comfy setting. We were seated pretty quickly and we started with some appetizers of the stuffed mushrooms and risotto balls. Both were delicious! Stuffed mushrooms had crabmeat filling inside which was pretty good and topped with a gorgonzola, maybe it was blue cheese sauce on top. Risotto balls was a hit, nicely fried little balls with nice creamy risotto inside. We were fighting over which one of us would get the last one kind of good. As for our mains, most people at my table had the signature steaks and they seemed to enjoy it very much. I decided to get the Lobster Roll, good amount of lobster, nice sized chunks, buttery and a good sized sandwich. A sandwich I would definitely get again! Service was fine, no issues there. Overall, a good place to come, we felt very relaxed, great atmosphere and especially some tasty food!

Fairly decent food for a tavern. The atmosphere and old photos were a great add. Kiara D. provided excellent service! I had the stuffed mushrooms which were okay – stuffing seemed bland but I liked the Gorgonzola cream sauce. For the main entrée, I ordered the chicken wrap with maple almond aioli sauce with waffle fries – the wrap was fab! Great mix of ingredients. The wrap should have been warmed prior to putting it altogether though. The fries were disappointing, just warm and didn’t seem to be homemade and greasy. I tried dessert too… why not go all the way at this point? I got the lemonchello cake. Just enough for one person for $ 5.75. Tasted okay. I was by myself and came on a Tuesday so I was sat immediately. Again, great service!

Excellent little bar in Windsor. It’s an old firehouse next to the train tracks, with old helmets on display and some other memorabilia. I went here on a Thursday night and they had some nice live music. The selection to drink from were great and the bartender was quite friendly. They also had a really nice patio outside with seating. Overall a great little place.

If you’re in Windsor, then this is definitely one of the better options. As soon as you get here, the first thing you will appreciate is the building’s charm. This is an old firehouse converted into a restaurant, and there is still some memorabilia from its glory days hanging around. The second thing you’ll notice is that this is where the locals come. It’s just a great neighborhood spot serving up good food at a fair price. I feel like I could pull a stool at the bar and easily start up a conversation with someone: it’s just that kind of place. Now onto the food. The menu is very eclectic and has all of your New England staples. I’ve been to a couple of other restaurants in the area, but this place serves up the best claim chowder in my opinion. Not too heavy and just the right amount of clam flavor. My favorite dish is their steak and lobster. This delectable dish includes an 8oz. flat iron steak topped with a healthy amount of lobster and a delicious bearnaise sauce, asparagus, and the greatest invention in the culinary world: a crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside potato cake. Forget about the steak, words cannot describe how much I love that potato cake. I’ve had similar potato dishes before, but these cakes tastes like mashed potatos on the inside, but still have that crunch we all enjoy from home fries. Perfection. The last time I was here, I ordered a lobster roll and was disappointed to see it served in a toasted piece of white bread folded in half. Where’s the steamed bun and butter? Honestly, even though it’s lobster, I would get something else. The rest of the menu has some solid options. After my lobster roll, I almost gave this place three stars, but then I remembered that they had good drinks specials for happy hour and Guinness on tap. Guinness on tap is deserving on one star by itself, so I bumped them up to four. When in the area, I will be back.

Ten of us had a business lunch here today, we had a big table up on the second floor. I have to say a word or two about that staircase to the second floor, it was so steeply pitched it felt like I was on a treadmill cranked up to the highest incline possible. Anyway, our server was pleasant and efficient, the kitchen whipped out ten meals pretty fast. Lots of sandwiches and burgers and wraps and salads and french fries. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Salad(Grilled) for $ 9.50. It was pretty good– nice fresh and crisp lettuce, lots of diced chicken in a zippy buffalo sauce, some celery, some tomatoes, but far too many black olives for my taste. I did like the choice of ordering the chicken fried or grilled. Overall the salad was very good. My iced tea brought the order to $ 12.76, and when I paid with a $ 20 bill, the server asked me if I wanted change back. Yes, she really did…
