The steaks were marinated in a dressing that totally obscured the flavor of the beef. We were informed they marinate ALL of their steaks and it is not an option to have it prepared without the marinade. One can only assume the quality of the meat must be pretty bad if they have to marinade it. A nice quality steak only requires salt and pepper.

Both the steak and chicken were burned and charred. Come here drink beer, enjoy the atmosphere but don’t be to optimistic about the food and you won’t be disappointed.

The food was not bad, but was anything special, The catfish was good but the hush puppies and tarter sauce tasted like they were out of a can. The staff was nice, but the place was just not that inviting. The saloon side looks like it would be a fun place with live music they have on the weekends.

We have been to the Double C Steakhouse four or five more times since my first review. We finally tried the Flat Iron steak and it is our new favorite! It is an extremely lean cut of beef with no fat. The steak is about 1″ to 1 ½″ thick and HUGE and I mean it. Normally, I can finish off any steak, but in three tries, I haven’t yet. A normal person could probably make three meals out of the Flat Iron. Tender and tasty-try it!

10 bucks for a salad? Nah… not in Winnsboro. Rude litte boy there. The girls in back were great though. Food in nothing special.

It’s located in downtown Winnsboro among many shops and antique stores. This would be a great place to eat lunch after walking/shopping around downtown. First impression was that this place has a great atmosphere. Relaxed and casual. There is a bar(Double C Saloon) adjoining the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She made excellent suggestions and our glasses never went empty. The salad bar was not that great, but then this is not called the Double C «Saladhouse». We shouldv’e taken our waitress’ advice and split the flat iron steak. As big a steak as it was(had to be at least 24 oz), it was cooked evenly all the way through to our requests of medium rare. Seasoning was great and not overpowering. We could only eat half of our steaks. I never made it to the vegetables. My wife got the mashed potatoes, but she said they were the instant variety. We left carrying two carry out boxes. They are known for their steaks and that is what we liked about our experience. We’ll definitely eat here again!
