This was an amazing find in South Carolina. Located out in the middle of nowhere I could not have asked for a more beautiful and pristine area. This park sits on Lake Wateree and is located about 20 minutes off interstate 77. If fishing, boating and relaxing is your thing then you need to spend some time here. There are boat ramps, picnic areas and a camp store. My favorite thing about this park in the abundance of shade. There are huge trees that canopy the campsites leaving it in the shade almost all day. I don’t mean one or two of the sites are in the shade; all of the sites in the park are shaded. There are a few sites with a premium view of the lake, these are defiantly hard to get and are booked months in advance especially on weekends. Some sites are very small and have limits on RV size so be sure when booking your reservation you confirm maximum length restrictions. There are showers, as expected with a state facility they are a little dated. With that being said they were one of the cleanest state facilities I have seen. The camp hosts do a wonderful job of cleaning these facilities. The staff, from campground host(s) to park ranger is very friendly. This park is about a twelve hour drive for me and I can’t wait to visit again. By far one of the nicest state parks I have come across.
