Generous portions and tons of options. In fact, the menu is overwhelming with so many choices. I settled on a cheese enchilada and bean torta with sides of rice and beans. My companion had a chimichanga. It was humongous! The food was tasty but nothing overly special. The salsa bar was mostly empty– three of the salsas were scraped completely out; the tiny bit left was frozen. Plus, no free refills on soda. The temperature in the restaurant was quite warm; in fact I thought it was a bit cooler outside– and that’s saying something when it’s late June in Winslow! I would return for food, but I think I might stick with carry out next time.

Don’t be deceived by huge portions! Huge portions of bad food are still not a value. The chicken chimichanga was decent, the Alfonso burrito was mostly cold, but definitely large. The chicken tacos and bean and cheese burrito were simply inedible. The Taco Bell next door, has a similar rating and would have been a better option and much cheaper.

I have a confession to make. I went into Alfonso’s as a last resort. I was trying to make it to Bakersfield from Santa Rosa New Mexico. I needed something to eat in the car. A burrito was just what I craved. I UnilocalED«lunch«in Winslow AZ… and the choices were GRIM. I opted for Alfonso’s as the least painful of my choices. I was scared when I walked in. They occupy the old building that used to house the local McDonalds. But…the counter person was nice… was clearly lucid… and took my order for a carnitas burrito. What I got shocked me. The thing weighed in at a pound. No rice… no beans(as I had asked) just carnitas… salsa…cheese…sour cream… and avocado. It was flat out terrific. Amazingly good. I called my buddy in Florida and told him he would we shocked at the quality burrito I got in the middle of NOWHERE Arizona. Price was insanely cheap… freshly made… tasted awesome… no burrito regret down the road… just a fantastic lunch on the run. Well done.

Great breakfast burritos and service, but I wouldn’t recommend much else. I usually get my food took as the lack of hygiene and cleanliness in the restaurant can take away your appetite at times. Recommend for breakfast as long as the drive thru line isn’t too long, my go to is the chorizo burrito or the potato egg and cheese both are more than enough to hold you over until lunch, if not dinner!

The atmosphere and cleanliness of this place is abysmal. The food is great though. Get your food and get out!

A no thrills no frills nice family owned restaurant with authentic homemade Mexican cooking. What else can you ask for? Stumbled on this place while traveling through Winslow and went back several times. Being from the Bay area I remembered this place and made a point to return when I was traveling in AZ again. Best breakfast burrito in the whole world! Love it!

I generally like their food. It has good quality and the staff is usually rather friendly. The prices aren’t too bad either.

Passing through Winslow, AZ on my way to Sedona and was starving. This where we wound up for lunch. The place wasn’t the cleanest– but everyone was really pleasant and the food was decent.

Wanted a non-corporate breakfast when leaving Winslow after several days at La Posada Hotel. Not fancy; looks as if may previously have housed some fast food restaurant; but don’t be put off by the appearance. One counter person and one cook; both very friendly. Food prep took a little while, but after trying our breakfast dishes, Huevos a la Mexicana and Huevos something-I-can’t-remember, it seemed as if I had wandered into someone’s kitchen for a traditional Tex-Mex breakfast. Very fresh ingredients, very tasty, plentiful. I would return.

This was ok, $ 8/meal what can u expect! I once was told that u could tell a lot by the bath rooms. I went after ordering, the urinal was out of order with a plastic bag, and the rim of the toilet was broken off. My wife needed to go but optd for Walmart. Nevertheless the food was tasty… U pays ur $ and u takes your chances! We had no I’ll effects.

I spotted this place while cruising through Winslow on vacation, and as soon as I set foot inside, I immediately knew it was legit Mexican food, and not the overpriced corporate chain food that’s passed off as Mexican. My carne asada burrito was excellent and well laden with meat, guac, cheese, and pico de gallo. The basics, really, but that’s how I like them. The meat itself was very good, though not among the best I’ve ever had. The nachos were also fantastic and nearly overflowed the plate. The chips were decent, but the toppings really made the nachos memorable. Lots of meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole on these bad boys, the kind of nachos that make you pull out a fork about halfway through. Given the massive serving sizes, we had to cart this stuff another 400 miles before finishing it, but that’s fine by me. This isn’t the best Mexican I’ve ever had, not even close, but it does make me look forward to eating in Winslow on my way to Phoenix. First time that’s ever happened.
