Say what you will about their pizza but that Greek Salad is amazing. Loaded with cheese meat and veggies. And the dressing they put on top(Oil, Vinegar, Oregano, Basil?) is great. They used to shred the lettuce. I actually miss that. Still just as good without the shredded lettuce. Their pizza however is another story. Usually very greasy and the crust is very dry. The sauce is pretty tasty though. Don’t order chicken on your pizza either unless you really like chicken nuggets. If not for the pizza I would give them 5 starts just for that Greek salad.

For a little hole in the wall pizza joint this place rocks. It has a modest décor but the staff are super friendly and the food is amazing. I’m not sure why it only has three stars but I’m glad we took a chance and stopped for lunch. We don’t get to Winsted CT often but next time we come by we will definitely stop in.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Before the owner sold the restaurant to the younger guy, this place was absolutely fantastic. It’s gone to trash now. Last night my family and I went here after bowling for some food and had, hands down, the WORST experience ever at a restaurant there. The waitress with the heavy Greek accent and dark hair waited on us. She literally could not have been any more rude to us if she tried. She refused to get us drinks and take our order for HALFANHOUR. She completely ignored the fact that we were sitting there even after we tried getting her attention multiple times. I’m assuming she was waiting until we walked out. Finally when she came over, she literally threw the menus on the table and walked away. I was actually disgusted by her bahaviour. She carried on to be incredibly short with us, especially to the kids, was condescending, and STILL managed to get our entire drink and food order wrong after making us repeat things multiple times. This woman is a mess. She should not be working as a waitress if she can’t be even slightly professional or even know how to do her job. If the new owner is smart, he should get rid of this woman before his entire business gets run into the ground. I will never go into another ABC pizza ago because of that nasty woman, and neither will anyone I have connections to.

I have been going to ABC for nearly my whole life, and it is probably one of the best pizza place out of the 10 in Winsted. Though their«food» food is not good, their pizza great. If you are visiting anytime looking for an easy and cheap meal that consists of any pizza, ABC is the place.

Good pizza, great salads and I love their hot ham grinders. This is a staple pizza place for those that live in the area. Try the stuffed shell casserole– it’s cooked under a layer of motz. Eating in is OK, they try on service but it isn’t stellar. Take out is the best. You get a soda with each large pizza.

Went with my family and was a bit disappointed. Service was just«ok» Son asked for a beverage, never recvd. Asked a second time, again, didn’t recv. And mind you it wasn’t busy at all. We were one of two tables with customers. Recvd. Pizza and I’ve never had pizza where the cardboard underneath was drenched in grease. Sorry to say we def. won’t be returning anytime soon. Gave two stars for the fact we were seated & checked on at least.

I am not really comfortable giving such a low rating but the pizza was very bad. Crust reminded me of cardboard(no taste and stale) and the entire pizza was extremely salty. I gave them a try when my usual place was closed. The staff was very nice but that can’t make up for a pizza joint whose pizza is terrible. There are better offerings in the town of Winchester.

Worst waitress ever … Ordered drinks and she just stood around talking then went to the bathroom in a very nonchalant manner. She has no urgency for the people she waits on… When I got up and got my drinks myself, she saw and then came at me with some snide comment .“oh, are you thirsty?” Ummmm… No. And also, you cannot understand a word she’s saying… Foods good, service is the WOOORRRSSTTTT. Then, she took forever to bring us boxes and the check. She proceeded to insist that she box it herself after I repeatedly just said bring boxes… We asked for boxes and the check at the same time. She leaves but only comes back with boxes(hello?). Go to Kent which is less than 2 blocks from here– same food, good quality and the service is a million times better.

Decent pizza, and also some veey good salads. Not a huge fan of their pepperoni, but their mushroom pizza is to die for. Greek family style restaurant, always send you home with a free soda when you get take-out. Reccomend taking out rather than eating there. Best pizza place in Winsted.

So yea… 9:33 on Friday, close at 10:00. Waitress was appalled at the fact I needed a menu, even further disappointed I wanted to order from said menu. Anxiously awaiting a beer and gyro. The place has good food but wow, the service is legitimately rude.

Let me confound you when comparing my review to the other Unilocal reviews of ABC Pizza. First, this place is like a landmark in the Winchester/Norfolk/Colebrook area. They have a long history of making great pizza and grinders. I don’t know their ethnic roots but ABC is like all of the other great Greek pizzerias scattered across NY and New England. It’s a very busy shop. Now I’ve been a customer of ABC for at least 20 years and their consistency has been a strong point … I like that in a restaurant. Among the best menu items were their sausage and meatball pizzas and the turkey and roast beef grinders. The grinders are still the best … but something happened to the pizza crust in the last few months. What was once light and fluffy is now somehow different … it has a bite to it … it physically feels different as well as tastes different than it has across my two decades with them. We’ve experienced this with the last 4 pizzas we ordered. Maybe they listened to the Unilocal reviewer here who said that they should mix it up a bit … well I strongly disagree with that. So … 3 stars for apizza, 5 stars for grinders = 4 stars. And a hope that they will change their crust recipe back to the way it once was. Don’t change what has been successful in the past!

I grew up with ABC as a small part of my life and it’s covered more than 40 years of it. ABC is one of my «go to» places, but only for their grinders and Greek salad. If this was a grinder shop only, I would give them 5 stars. Their hot grinders are real comfort food(I know, not what you normally think of as «comfort food», but I’m not sure how else to generically categorize how/why their grinders are great), not stellar and I suppose there’s room for some improvement, but they are very yummy. Their pizza is «ok», but it is really nothing special(it’s certainly not bad). I used to think it was special and would typically get pizza from them. But my kids never wanted me to get pizza from them and then one day they told me, «their crust is boring». I finally decided to make myself take a fresh objective evaluation. And then I realized, yes… their crust is really boring, and the toppings are just«ok». So I realized my desire for pizza from ABC was more«because I grew up with it», not because it was good. If just their crust could have some pizazz, I would reconsider getting pizza from ABC again, but otherwise… I go elsewhere for pizza. So, perhaps 3 stars for pizza and 5 stars for their grinders… and that’s why I give them 4 stars. ==– To the Owner /Manager: Please, please… consider changing your pizza dough /crust, how you make it or how you cook it or something. Ok, perhaps don’t rush out and change over completely without trying some other crusts and seeing how they go first. But offer to your customers, lets say… 2 different types of crust. Go ahead, keep your traditional crust you’ve been using for years(then you or the customer can always fall back on that), but then also at the least offer another type of crust. Try changing the«new» crust up maybe once every 2 or 3 months(put up some signage so people realize there’s something new to try), and solicit people’s feedback… yes, you need to solicit feedback. But there’re so many variations of good crust(I’m not sure anyone in Winsted has real good crust, but yours is maybe the most boring). I’m not a chef, so I can’t really suggest what to change up from a chef’s perspective. If you’re really a pizza parlor, you should know how to try some different and good variations. All I know is, from a pizza consumer perspective, yours is boring and there’s many good variations that are so much better on the market… and in some places, some really top-notch crusts. At the least, I would think you’d probably get a slight market increase in pizza orders, just from people’s curiosity in wanting to try what your new crust(s)/pizza are like. Who knows, you could possibly end up with a real winner and consequentially a much bigger market share(in Winsted anyhow). I’m rootin for you, so I hope you’ll consider what I’m saying.

If you grew up in Winsted then you’ll love this place. Outsiders like myself, not so much. My kids used to beg me to buy ABC until I couldn’t take it anymore. The dough is similar to Pillsbury. Horrible cheap tasting pizza. For the amount of times I went in to ABC you’d think the owners would be friendlier. They barely smile and at some points they’re rude and show they’re annoyed. Their salads are good but that’s about the extent of it.

I love this place. Always have and I always will. It’s some of the best pizza you can have. I’ve been going to this joint since I honestly can remember. The ingredients are always so fresh and everything is always superb. The rival down the road; Kent Pizza, has better little appetizers such as buffalo chips, wings and such but ABC has the dominate pizza and sandwiches. The prices are very affordable and you’ll always be statifed. Everytime some homies or if a band crashes over at my place, we go here and they are always blown away.

This place would be a great restaurant for the tv show«Restaurant Impossible.» We went there because it had decent Unilocal reviews, and since we were just passing through we had never eaten in this town before. The nearly dead houseplant in the window should have been our first clue to turn back! Dirty dishes(one had tomato sauce on it) and a dirty water glass(black on the bottom) made us wish they used paper products. Not a great way to start a meal. The«meatball» grinder was made with freezer-burnt meatloaf. Looked gross. See the photo I uploaded. The pizza crust was thick … So thick that it was not cooked all the way through. The«Greek Salad» had pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and a puddle of oil and red wine vinegar. Adding feta cheese was an additional cost. Not a traditional Greek salad, but the small fed three of us so that was a bonus. The Bathroom was plain, neat and clean. The waitress was pleasant. She gave the boys lollipops which made the boys happy. Happy … but not enough to make this review more than 1 star.

Best pizza, Greek Salads and grinders in the known universe. Period. When the gods on Mount Olympus want pizza they order from here. It’s not your typical pizza. This is Greek style pizza. It’s something truly special. The crust is almost pastry-like. It’s a light ring of perfection which surrounds the perfectly baked mouth watering cheese and sauce. The Greek Salads are simple with great fresh ingredients. The dressing is unrivaled in the salad world and makes this a unique unmatched experience. The Grinders(Grindiz in the Camp Delaware vernacular), are toasted and packed with tasty goodness. This was my very first Grinder experience and ABC will always have a very special place in my memory(and my stomach). They also serve Birch Beer. This is a rare mark of excellence.
