3.5 stars(I wish Unilocal would let us give ½ stars…) The portion sizes are HUGE. The lemon potatoes were TOO lemon-y for me, but luckily husby will eat my share. The gyro was yummy and the rice was tasty! Would definitely ask for more rice in place of the lemon potatoes. With such large portions, we were able to make 2 – 3 meals out of it. The location is in the Big Lots strip mall, which is kinda meh. We had a great waitress who was super friendly and sweet!

I ate here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted a Greek salad(which was only $ 7) but decided to try the vegetarian moussaka instead, since it came with a salad anyway. Everything was amazing, from the food to the service! I can put some food away… but I could’ve made 3 meals of that moussaka. I will be back soon!

This new location is huge. Everytime we have come they are dead so I’m thinking they must have their busy time at lunch. The food is the same as the Stratford rd location. I think this location is more comfortable as they have booths and the seating is more comfortable. Always good food!

I loved the Stratford location so when I saw that they kicked«a taste of latin» the heck out and settled in I was more than happy to give them a try. ok, location is really bad. which is why I believe the previous dive went under. I really hope people notice they are there. the restaurant is much nicer than the Stratford location. the food is quite good, like the other location. I got the gyro plate and was quite happy with the food. they have a beer of the month thing going also. not that they have a great selection but a different lager every now and then is fine. check them out.

Passing through the area. Checked it out because of the excellent Unilocal reviews. Hummus was excellent! Loved the salads! Will definitely stop here again if in the area. The owner stopped by the table to check on us. We told him how wonderful the food was. Service from our waiter was super and she knew the menu well. A surprise stop with an excellent meal.

This place is awesome! I went with my Greek friend and he was impressed. He said that it’s super authentic and really good by Greek standards(as opposed to Americanized Greek standards). I got the gyro pita(lamb gyro) and he got the chicken souvlaki pita(essentially a chicken gyro). This dish comes with fried potatoes(bomb a** steak fries). We both got baklava and it was amazing. They don’t give you dinky little pieces, they give you massive pieces of rich buttery goodness. I am in love with this place. I will be going back. I would post pictures of my meal, but I couldn’t stop eating.

Had the baked chicken for lunch. The meat was super tender and falling off the bone. Came with rice & green beans. I’m not much of a green bean guy, but here, they were tender & seasoned just right. The restaurant is huge & very clean. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Love all the videos they show of Greece. It’s an extremely beautiful country and I enjoyed watching those videos. It inspires me to want to travel there again

For starters I had a Greek coffee with a cup of soup. Delivered with speed and all tasted perfect on a cold day filled with rain! Salad and suggestions for lunch followed. Greek sausage, hand made by the staff, with lemon potatoes and rice. The sausages were grilled to perfection!!!(Note: a bit on the spicy side, but very yummy). Dessert and call it lunch!!! All delivered in with perfect timing and at a good price. Remember to go very hungry because they fill the plates up!!!

My friends from work and I have been patiently awaiting the opening of this new restaurant on University. It has just recently opened and we decided to order some takeout the other night. I believe this is a second or third location for this restaurant. I’ve never visited the others in and around Winston. I ordered my usual Greek favorite… a chicken souvlaki pita with added feta cheese. My friend ordered the traditional gyro with lamb meat. Both sandwiches came with a large order of fries. The fries were huge, lightly seasoned and were cooked perfectly. My pita was the best one I’ve ever had… even better than my usual Greek spot(Mad Greek). The pita bread was grilled and the chicken was grilled and very slightly charred. They were extremely generous with the amount of chicken, tzatziki, tomatoes, and feta cheese that they put on my sandwich. The tzatziki sauce was a nice consistency and had very good flavor. It was one LOADED up pita. The girl who took my order over the phone was very friendly. Likewise, the people behind the counter who rang me up and brought me my order were super nice. I believe it is a family running this place. They obviously care very much about the customer and the business. They have a dessert case with a few dessert choices that looked delicious. They have Greek products for sale as well… some chocolate bars, pasta, cookies, etc. The young lady who rang up my order definitely paid attention to the small details. She gave me ketchup for our fries without me even having to ask and she labeled the identical styrofoam boxes with what was inside. I very much appreciate places that don’t skip over the small details like this. The inside of Athena Taverna was decorated nicely… makes you feel like you’re sitting out on a patio in Santorini. This place is an A+++ and I know for a fact I will be a frequent customer due to it being in close proximity to where I work and for the great food and customer service.
