The food is your average food you can get pretty much any where. The ice cream is amazing though! Love the atmosphere as well.

Hotdog and burger joint. I ordered the hotdog special and it was tasty since I asked for the wieners to be cooked well done. The fries were fresh and the service is fast. I went during lunch time and they had someone outside taking orders.

The staff seem nice and the food is good. I like their hot dogs but since I stop eating pork I now love their crispy chicken salad and it’s only $ 8.00, but it’s big.

I really don’t have too much to say about Dairi-O. It was very similar to the one in Stanleyville and they too make a decent hotdog and good French fries. All the employees with which I cam into contact were very friendly and neat looking. I placed my order(#1 Combo 2 hotdogs, fries, and drink), paid, and left in short order. A good fast food experience.

This chain doesn’t exist where I’m from but I’m so happy to live so close to one now! The amount of fries you get is perfect and the burgers have that homestyle/diner taste that I can’t get enough of. The restaurant itself is massive with so much seating inside there are also some benches outdoors for enjoying your ice cream on nicer days. My fiancé noted how pleasant the staff was which is a very nice change from other fast food restaurants. We will be returning soon!

Pretty good food! Their fries portions are very big compared to what its usually served with(no complaints there)– but in the future, I would always ask for more seasoning on them, which was a little inconsistent. I got the All Star salad, and subbed blue cheese, for the regular cheese it came with… what a great, fresh salad. A surprisingly large helping of bacon in it, and the chicken souvlaki was always good. I went here twice when I was in town last week, and sadly, the second time, my dressing wasn’t in the bag. I would say that my only complaint here would be that they aren’t consistent in their service or quality of food. Its one of those places you need to double check your bag before you leave; and you might get different answers to requests depending on who’s ringing you up. That’s frustrating, but its still a great option for«fast food»

Classic hotdog & burger joint that certainly deserves a look if you are in the area. Staff is always very friendly and food is always prepared fresh. I enjoy this place and always have. Keep up the good work

Been twice now with my wife and were very happy both times. We get the hot dogs and hamburgers. Why bother with anything else? I love the grilled buns on the hot dogs and the fact that the«regular» dog has chili and cole slaw. That is regular to me. The french fries are surprisingly good. Very crisp on the outside and strongly seasoned. Add to it a Cheerwine from the soda fountain or a shake from the ice cream side of the restaurant and you’re all set — and not broke, either.

Dairi-O is a local chain that started in the 1940’s in King, NC. The current owner by two decades decided three years ago to rebuild the original location with a retro motif, add inside seating, and begin expanding the King location into a proper chain. Opened in August 2013 the third location, off Peter’s Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem, offers an expanded interior and the same food you’ll remember from the original. Dairi-O features burgers, sandwiches, wings, nuggets, salads, soups, sides including fries & onion rings, and their well known ice cream and milkshakes. The Clemmonsville Rd. eatery uses the new style guidelines of the other stores, with a white/green/red color palette and ledge stone used in the exterior and interior. The interior appointments combine the classic 1950’s drive-in feel with modernist revival furniture. The Clemmons restaurant takes this theme further with an industrial motif, while this one is more restrained in comparison. Dairi-O can best be compared to another local chain, Cook-Out. Both serve burgers and dogs, both consider a corndog a «side item», and both are well known for their milkshake selection. Dairi-O takes their menu one step further with the addition of vegetarian options, including a veggie burger and a grilled cheese. Dairi-O goes to great lengths as well to make their fast food stores feel like a full fast-casual restaurant. All locations in Forsyth County are clean, accessible, and friendly. At this location, you order at one of several registers after snaking through a controlled line on busy days. You must then wait for your order to be called on the microphone. If you don’t want to wait at a table, there is ample bench seating near the cashier station to sit. Food is made to order, and even on a slow Monday evening, the wait can feel long. On a recent visit, my partner and I ordered two veggie burgers, a bag of fries, tea, and a strawberry milkshake. The tab for these five items with tax was a little over $ 17. Substantially more than Cook-Out in price, so was it worth it? It’s great to see that more and more burger joints are catering to changing tastes. Dairi-O does not build their veggie burger in house, but rather offer MorningStar Farm’s Chipotle Black Bean Burger. It’s not a bad choice, certainly better than the Burger King veggie option. Our burgers were made with a choice of condiments and were unfortunately cooked too long. The outside of both burgers were heavily charred and vaguely resembled a briquette. They still had a good smoked bean flavor, although the char-texture created an unfavorable mouth feel. The fries at this visit were spot-on. Dairi-O uses old-school crinkle cut fries that are submerged in oil until they achieve a nice golden hue. The outsides are usually mildly crispy while the insides are soft. The fries are then topped off with a mild seasoning. I challenge anyone to find a menu item better than their ice cream. Dairi-O offers over a dozen flavors that can be served in a cone, as a mcflurry clone, as a sundae, as a float, and finally as a shake. We shared a strawberry shake at this visit. The shake was creamy, not as heavy as Cook-Out, but still solid enough to eat with a spoon if desired. The shake was filled with real strawberry chunks instead of the artificial flavoring plaguing other fast food shake options. Overall I hope that Dairi-O can keep up with their explosive growth and deal with recent growing pains. I have encountered significant wait times at both the Clemmonsville Rd. location and the Clemmons location itself. The cooks also need to be trained on cooking the veggie burger so as to not completely torch the patty. The next time I’m in town and feel the need for a faintly nostalgic experience, Dairi-O will definitely deliver. Otherwise, I will likely stick with Cook-Out or Skippy’s for a cheap classic American lunch.

So many good things to try! The crispy chicken sandwich is ok, not great, but not bad, just had better elsewhere. The burgers are great, and the fries… YUM! Love the hot dogs, wings, chicken souvlaki is amazing and shockingly the veggie burger(though I had meat chili on it) is oh so good! Ice cream is awesome, both soft served and hard.

This was my first time experiencing Dairi-O. I could smell the burgers from across the street, and they smell amazing, so I knew this was where I would be having lunch. The fries were seasoned without asking, which isn’t a problem because I like them. The burger actually tastes grilled, which made it that much better. I’m giving Dairi-O a 3 star simply because I feel the price is just a little too high considering Cook Out is just about 1 mile down the road, and the food pretty much tasted the same. The double cheeseburger combo costs about $ 2 more than Cook Out, and CO has better sweet tea.

Think of Cook-Out meets PDQ meets Dairy Queen. That’s the best way to describe this clean, charming restaurant. This spot serves up classic American food reminiscent of muscle cars and drive-in theaters. I had the Jumbo Hot Dog combo upon suggestion from the cashier. They have a long list of free toppings which is nice, as well as premium ones. I added chili, cheese, and onions to mine and was satisfied to say the least. It was a very good size and I could tell that it was made to order. The fries were also very fresh which helped it’s cause because they would’ve been mediocre if they weren’t. My favorite part was that they had 24 ice cream flavors to order from in a variety of ways. I had a salted caramel/peanut butter cup milkshake which definitely hit the spot. I enjoyed Dairi-o’s and would suggest going here with the family or a group of friends for a causal meal.

The results are in: Dairio got their veggie burgers back after a recall, and surprisingly, they’re fantastic! In fact, I vote their veggie burger as the best fast food veggie patty around. Burger King adds some weird chewy potato crap in theirs and it tastes terrible. Dairio grills theirs cook-out style and uses FRESH black bean pattys. The service at Dairio isn’t bad, but it can be kind of spotty and the staff are a little short with you. It’s also pricey for fast food… but the burger is worth it for a treat now and then.

Best Veggie Burger I’ve ever had. It’s really nice as a vegetarian to be able to hit up a burger joint with my family and not have to get a salad, too. They have really great fries, and good staff. The blaring country music and uncomfortable chairs I could do without, but I rarely dine in.

I have had take out from Dari-O before but eating there in person was so much better. The restaurant is bright and clean. The staff was friendly. I had their 2 hotdog combo with chili, ketchup and onions. They griddle the hotdogs which I like a lot. The chili is tasty as well. The fries were crisp and flavorful. They have ice cream but we were too full to try any.

A new location for the old favorite on 66 and University Parkway! Food just as good, love the burgers and dogs. As with the other location the ice cream is hand scooped and delicious! The real treat for me as a southerner is the sweet tea with the old soda fountain style pellet ice. Just a great all around atmosphere and flavor. Counter staff is very helpful and even let me borrow a pencil to let my son complete his homework.

My husband and I just moved to the Winston area and my sister was showing me around. Her and I LOOOOVE French fries! Might just be my favorite food. She said Dairi-o had the BEST fries in town, so we got 2 orders at the drive thru as a snack. They were very good. Crinkle cut, super piping hot, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside and seasoned perfectly with a special fry seasoning(similar to Red Robin’s fry seasoning.) $ 1.79/order. One size only. A few other reviewers said they had bad service but we had no issues at all. They were very friendly and got our order to us quick. The building looked really cool but the round-about(traffic circle) right near them was a little bit of a pain. I will definitely return to sample more of their menu.

Once I tried Dairi-O I became an instant fan. I ordered the Monster Burger all-the-way(chili, slaw, onions, mustard) with cheese. It was awesome and the fries were seasoned perfectly. Service was great and I will definitely be a repeat customer.

I love the Rural Hall location and was excited to try this location last Sunday. I echo Fred’s thoughts in that it is a pain in the butt to get to with the traffic circles and current construction. I loved the aesthetic of the building inside and out. Very much a contemporary conception of the original diner. I was there for a late lunch and was able to walk right in and order. Patricia took my order with a look and attitude like I had just insulted her entire family. I was stunned that this woman could dispense so much disdain merely in plugging my food into the machine. I took a seat at one of the bar stools and my food came out quickly. I got a chicken sandwich which was very good. Chicken well-seasoned and moist. Sandwich toppings were fresh. I love that they put seasoning salt on their fries. That’s always a favorite for me. The hot dog was WAY overpriced at $ 2.39. It might be worth that if I got it loaded but there is no way a hot dog with ketchup and mustard should cost that much. I’ll stick to the Rural Hall location from here on out.

New location, new ordering setup, a total mess — even getting into the shopping center where the restaurant is located is akin to running an obstacle course — 3, yeap THREE, traffic circles between the exit off Peters Creek to the center. A greeter(may have retired from WalMart) directs you to a narrow ordering line which eventually funnels you to: 3 ordering cashiers, 3 vacant stares, no hint of energy or puropse — you get a number and wait, and wait some more. Our number was called, but there was only a hot dog, no swirled ice cream, and no clue what to do next. Turns out the machine is down, no swirling at all — kaput, nada. Back into the line for a refund. Stares no less vacant, comprehension not improved, refund slowly, grudgingly given. Escape to the outside after 20 nerve-shattering minutes. I like the hot dog that Dairi-O offers, but at $ 2.39 it’s no bargin, and the experience at this new location was chaotic — I’ll not be back here — the other locations ok, but not here.
