Days Inn Winston Salem North

Horrible! Used condoms in the parking lot. Room smelled like smoke and Lysol. Bed didn’t even look like they changed the linen from the night before. The beds were so worn out that you could see the dips in the middle of he mattress. We didn’t even stay. Checked out 5 minutes after checking in. We booked through
. I contacted them to complain and request a refund. They contacted the motel and we were denied a refund. This place is a rent by the hour kind of place. Stay far away unless you are «there on business». And I can’t believe Expedia lists this place on their site. Canceling my Expedia account after I finish this review.

This place is a serious dive!
My first clue to what a dive this is should have been the fact that the office was locked when I arrived and they had to buzz né in.
It’s 30 degrees outside right now and it has been snowing. When I walked into the room, it had to be well over 100 degrees. It felt like Arizona in summer! I turned off the heat and left the door open for an hour or so while I watched some tv and it’s almost comfortably cool now.
The mattress is torn and ragged. The bed frame is broken and a few inches taller on one end than the other.
The place is maybe ¹⁄₃ full by the number of cars in the lot but the clerk refused to move me to another room. Something tells me the other rooms are not any better.
I had reservations for the whole week I am in town but will not be staying another night. I’d rather sleep in my rental car.

Sketchy.
I paid a little over $ 50 a night and felt it wasn’t that great of a deal.

Rooms are big
Only a very slight «funky motel» smell
Negs
No conditioner or lotion bottles
No wifi directions in the room but if you call, they will help you connect
Breakfast is really weak, cheap sugary stuff, and unhealthy
Biggest negative: as a woman traveling alone, I did not feel safe. My standards for safe are pretty loose but this place creeped me out. At night the person at the counter has to work though a glass window and slide you your paperwork and keys through a tiny slot to protect them.
If you are a woman travveling alone or have children, I do not recommend this place.

Overpriced
For the quality of the hotel. this place should be well under $ 50 per night, but it’s not. The beds were not very comfortable and the pillows were thin. The air conditioner was old, supported by wood blocks, and took all night to cool the room down.
The «continental breakfast» was just cheap, mediocre pastries. I’ve had better from vending machines.
Wifi was free, but unreliable. My laptop connected quickly, but for some reason it took close to 30 minutes for the login page to come up before I could use it.
The rooms are clean and it’s close to the highway. That’s about all it has going for it.
