Simple, everything is good. Ask for the hot sauce :) the specials are great! A friend brought his kids and they had no problem eating off the menu. The kids loved the noodles. It takes about 5 minutes to get your food and everything is very hot.

This dumpling shop is located in the cute Reynolda Village area. I food was fresh and edible. My problem was with the names of the dishes. I came here with my sister and a friend. There’s really only 2 tables and a little bar area next to the register. We sat at the bar area. We came here just to snack and ordered the fried pork dumplings, sesame cold noodles, and the Mala cold noodles. The pork dumplings were good but there were bite size compared to normal dumplings. It’s kind of nice to eat it all in one bite. The noodles were good but both of them were essentially the same noodle with the same sauce except the sesame one was a bit sweeter. It’s deceiving because MaLa literally means ‘numbing spice’ which is caused by szechuan peppercorns but there weren’t any in this noodle dish. Otherwise, the cold noodles were refreshing for a hot day. The prices here are definitely good for snacking. There weren’t really any large entrees.

May Way dumplings is located in the bucolic Reynolda Villlage shops. It was actually a little tricky to find in the winding rows of shops. So don’t give up if you find yourself wandering around. I went with the Pork Shao Mai dumplings which were quite tasty but a small portion for the price. I also ordered the sweet and spicy cold noodles BUT was given the cold sesame noodles which were quite bland and disappointing to me. I’m not sure if it was the owner, but the counter person was not very friendly. I would come back again to try some different menu items and hopefully the rating on a second visit.

I love this dumpling place. There is something charming about this dumpling place that I can’t really find the words to express. This place is tiny so it is not good for large groups but it is perfect if you are by yourself or just with one other person. Whenever I go I order the pork dumplings and devour them right away. These dumplings taste great. I am not sure if they are homemade but they still are good.

My friend and I first came when they just opened the place. We were not impressed by the food at that time — too small of a portion, taste was just meh. Well, I’m glad I tried them again. My hubby and I ordered two portions of chicken dumplings, pearl chickens and the hot and sour soups, which I think was the special of the day. Each portion came with 7 pieces of dumplings, I think… So great portion and pretty filling. There are chunks of chicken inside the dumplings and the sauce perfectly complements them. I love the pearl chicken… It has a delicious flavor! And I also really like the hot and sour soup. I have not tried the noodle, but seems like that’s worth trying too, from reading all the reviews on Unilocal. This place is very small, so not good for big groups, although they do have couple of tables inside and in front of the store. Most people seem to come here and get takeouts. I hope they expand their menu. I’m happy that they opened in Winston since we definitely need to expand the number of Asian restaurants in the area!

Just as if you were on Mott St in Manhattan, deep in Chinatown, wondering if those bread-like things everyone is eating is really worth it? Well, they are, and so are these Steam Buns at May Way Dumplings! Tucked in Reynolda Village in a tiny store front that you’ll miss if you don’t pay attention is something as good as what you’ll find in NYC! Steamed BBQ Pork Buns are impossible to find anywhere around here, but these are the real deal and incredibly tasty! It’s like a half cooked sticky ball of dough, filled with BBQ pork, then steamed to a warm chewy goodness! They have a Fried Chicken Dumplings that are like a Chinese dumpling/wonton that are fried to a bit of a crisp exterior that are out of this world! Today they were offering a special soup of the day which I believe they were calling May Way Noodle Soup possibly! Anyhow, it was a very large bowl of a clear broth soup with homemade wontons, thick chewy noodles, and a touch of chili powder for some heat! Incredibly good and absolutely a shareable dish! It’s a odd restaurant to have in this truly upscale boutique shopping complex. But I’m so excited to have something like this that’s not traditional Chinese, but yet a quality that you’ll certainly find in authentic Chinese spots in NY. There is literally only seating for about six people inside, but there’s a beautiful courtyard around the corner for pleasant days that worth trying!

Really good fast dumplings and pork buns. Super tiny eating area but fine for the style of fast food. Pork buns and Shao Mai are great. Almost tapas six orders so start slow and Oder more as you go! Very reasonable and super clean, with nice staff. I would eat here often if I was a Wake student!

Stopped in for takeout and got some buns… very bready/bland. Veggie one had hardly any filling and flavor. My husband didn’t mind the pork one. And I’m totally bummed we ordered the peach buns and paid for them but didn’t get them. My husband liked his dumplings and the noodles were better but not great. My husband’s was super salty but my vegetarian Mala cold noodle dish was alright. We should have known better when most if our food was being cooked behind a wall in a microwave and not fresh in all those fancy pans up front!

I’m sorry WS, this is not the legit Chinese food that you are missing out on. And I hate to bash on a relatively new establishment but I was left very unsatisfied with the meal that my roommate and I ordered: Fried pork dumplings and sesame cold noodles combo, pearl chicken. Even at the relatively low price(compared to rest of the restaurants in Reynolda Village), I’m not convinced I would go back for even the dumplings. They tasted essentially like frozen dumplings with very little filling, overly fried to accentuate it’s outer dough. I would prefer sticking to making my own frozen potstickers into guo tie from Costco. Sesame noodles were somewhat better, interesting nutty sauce however as mentioned above, overpriced for the amount they provided. The combo included a cookie which seemed literally like a store-bought Palmier. One redeeming dish was probably the pearl chicken. Wrapped in bamboo leaf and likely unappealing from the outside to those novice towards Asian food, the sticky rice and chicken combination was a good balance of savory. Again, portion size too small. As a caveat, I did try the restaurant the first week they opened and perhaps they’ve evened out the kinks since then.

I love this place. It’s a great change of place from the usual fare available, especially around the Wake Forest campus — but really all of Winston-Salem. They keep a tight menu with some dumplings, pork buns, and a couple of noodle dishes. I like the small menu because it means they can get the food out more quickly. Only down side so far: the pork buns we have had both times were a bit on the dry side. Hopefully if the business grows they will be able to switch away from disposable containers, too. Not sure if they have the facility for that, though, because the place is pretty small as others have noted.

I came here after all the rave reviews from Unilocal and thank you! I tried the fried chicken dumplings and the steamed pork shumai? Anywho I loved both of them and how cheap it was too. Under $ 8 for lunch and it can be healthy if you just stick to steamed. I like the sauce that came with the steamed dumplings and I wish I had some for the fried but they mixed in a different sauce for it. Overall I will be coming back. It is small so I plan on take outs but I would totally eat there on a slow summer day.

This small 8 seat place specializes in steamed and fried dumplings, with a couple of noodle offerings. I had hopes it would be real dim sum since the Triad lacks one, but it’s not as all the offerings seemed to be reheated commercial product. Its a good though and a unique spot. Seems to be very popular with Wake students with it’s cheap prices and shareable offerings. Wait can be lengthy if you get behind a few takeout and call-in orders as we did, as they only have a couple burners. Prices are cheap so we ordered a few items including fried dumplings with chicken, steamed pork bun, steamed veg bun, spicy cold noodles with apple, and the peach dessert dumpling. The fried dumplings were good as were the cold noodles. Both bun dishes had a very heavy, thick bao type dough and were slim on filling, but the bbq pork was tasty. The dessert bun had been microwaved and was hard, dry and the plastic knife wouldn’t even cut it. They was a very tiny bit of filling that tasted vaguely sweet but no real peach flavor.

We found this small dumpling spot after reading some Unilocal reviews. We are fans of Asian dumplings and May Way was a great find for us. So as most of the Unilocal reviews state, this place is extraordinarily small but it works for the owners. The owners were very welcoming and we walked up to the counter to place our order. The seating is limited with about 4 small tables(inside and out) and a counter with a bench. So, when visiting Reynolda Village it is a don’t blink or you miss it location — we called to find out where they were because we drove right by them. They are at the corner of the turn to go to Village Tavern. Advice: the portion sizes are truly for one person apiece. We racked up almost $ 20 with 5 things. For two people, it was a great tapas-kind of thing — but we should have ordered more. More than likely, we would have ended up spending about $ 25 and wouldn’t have gone out for food later because we were still hungry — entirely our faults, no one else’s. Great crisp on the fried dumplings — we tried the chicken — and the sauce was awesome! The pork bun had a lot of bread, not a lot of filling and a sauce we would have loved more of. Shao Mai was very good dim sum — will definitely be back for these reasons, but then we got to the sweet & sour spicy cold noodles — GETTHESEWHENYOUGO!!! Just be aware they used a lot of cilantro on top — ask for none if you don’t care for cilantro. We also tried the peach buns — they were different, but okay. Should have skipped them and tried either another type of noodle selection or veggie bun or the fried pork dumplings. Bottom line? Make your way to May Way ASAP and enjoy!

My wife and I stumbled upon this tiny restaurant while wandering through Reynolda village, and boy am I glad we did. The seating area was small but we were able to sit down and enjoy a delicious selection of dumplings and soup. This is undoubtedly the cleanest restaurant I have ever seen. I would highly recommend stopping by and picking out a few of their very reasonably priced dishes. It takes a few of them to make a full meal, but I love that you get to try different things at once.

This place is clean, small and good for carry out. There are a couple of tables outside. We did manage to grab a couple of chairs inside. The people behind the counter were friendly. The service is quick. This was an appetizer stop for me so I enjoyed a couple of their hot steam pork buns that were doughy and fluffy accompanied with a tangy sauce on the side. It just hit the spot!

This tiny little gem is a great addition to the food scene in Winston-Salem. There is not much seating, but Reynolda Village is a great place to find a shady tree with a little bench. Their winter sales might drop a lot unless taking it home or back to the office. It’s a great place for sharing food with family and friends. We ordered almost everything on the menu and only spent $ 28. The crispy chicken and pork dumplings were great, my kids loved the sauce. The Shao Mai steamed dumpling didn’t look pretty, but tasted great. The pork steamed bun was light on the filling, but still tasted good. For me and my wife, we absolutely loved the sour and spicy noodles with Asian pears. It has tons of flavor, and it’s a cold dish which was perfect on this 87 degree day. Each dish is very inexpensive, but you’ll want 2 – 3 dishes for a meal, but you’ll still be under $ 10.

A tad disappointing. I might be spoiled by my Chinese sister in law. Just average dumplings you can pick up the same ones at your local Asian grocery store frozen and steam yourself

Stopped in here for lunch on a Friday. The interior is clean but definitely small. We sat outside on one of the first nice days of Fall. We sampled most of the menu and I would say I was definitely impressed. Pork and Chicken Dumplings were both really tasty and I loved the sauce that they were served with. Hot and Sour soup was very good and you got a really healthy-sized serving. Sesame Noodles with Peanut Sauce = AWESOME. I love a Peanut sauce and these noodles were swimming in them. YUM. BBQ Pork Bun.. . pretty meh. The bread to filling ratio seemed off. Lots of bread. Little filling. The Credit Card machine wasn’t working and instead of working to get it fixed the gentlemen were just relying on everyone having cash. They weren’t terrible friendly about it either. I’ll definitely be back but will probably order ahead and get it to go.

Just opened! A welcome addition not only to Reynolda Village but to the Dash as well. It’s a small joint, maybe 5 – 6 stools inside and two small tables out front. The kitchen is right there so you watch them fry/steam your food to order. Nothing fancy, but that’s the beauty of it. Just dumplings, a couple noodle dishes, and pork buns. Tip: they lay a sweet plum-like sauce underneath each order, so if you don’t want that just ask for it on the side. Nice people, let’s keep them in business. 4 stars for the first and only dumpling joint in town.

Really neat little addition to Reynolda Village. The interior is small, so it is more of a take out place unless there are only 2 or 3 of you. The menu is also limiteid, but seeing how small the kitchen is I can understand why. I was expecting more variety of dumplings but they basically only have chicken or pork. They also have pork and veggie steam buns as well as some noodle dishes. We got two orders of dumplings, five steam buns, and a noodle dish, it came out to around $ 30. The steam buns were what you would expect and quite tasty. They fry the dumplings to order so they arrived hot and crispy. The cold noodle dish was a big hit as well with the peanut sauce lovers in the group. The employees were so friendly and appreciative of our business. I will definitely be back for a snack or well to stuff my face with dumplings at dinnertime. If you park in the lot where the Village Tavern it is right aorund the corner on the main Reynolda Village road.
