We constantly crave their biscuits. Service is awesome. Sometimes there is a wait but its totally worth it. Homemade off the grill goodness.

When you want a nice, no frills place to eat, stop by here. We arrived on a Saturday around 10am, no line, no wait. My husband had the bacon egg and cheese on toast. I had the bacon and American cheese omelette. Both cooked to perfection. The shredded hashbrowns were seasoned well. For the price we paid we got decent portions and food was excellent. Staff was also friendly and bonus points for playing Radiohead and The Pixies. Overall a fine establishment that reminds us of the breakfast places up north. No frills, just good food.

Another spot I stopped at during the National Black Theatre Festival… Definitely a good solid diner, but didn’t quite have the feel and home feel of the diner that I used to go to in Winston close to Mom or the two that I like in Durham… The food was good, and I don’t think you will be disappointed in that sense… The eggs were good and the Turkey bacon was delicious…

I’m going to second everything Jennifer L. wrote below, and add that Murphy’s has the best fried chicken I’ve had in Winston-Salem. This place has been popular for over THIRTY years. .. where ya been, Thomas N.? EATHERE.

I love this place. It is simple no frills good food for cheap. Their breakfast plates are a huge steal and so much food. The pancakes are secretly some of the best in town too. I am always impressed with the friendliness of the employees when I come here too. But seriously? Today my eggs were perfect. The picture I shall post won’t do it justice because I was so exciting I broke the yolk. Eat here.

Excellent southern cooking at its best. Staff is top notch and the cook is the best. Sort of small but never had to wait long. The waffles are to die for and the pork chop is just like mom use to fry.

Bottom line the real reason this place has become popular in the last two years is because the Dill Pickle closed! It’s fun cheap and ok. Breakfast is the best bet. For lunch if you enjoy meat and two it’s ok. If you want a Burger and Fries for lunch this is the wrong place. The burger is always over cooked. The line cook is good and nice but he’s slow. This place would do much better if they changed up the menu and upgraded the line cook.

Check out my other reviews first. If I am spending money at your business I demand you earn it! This place does just that. Great and I mean GREAT food. They are exactly what they look like. A super place to get GREAT food for lunch, and get it VERY quick. Even if there is a line(and many times there is) it will only take you a minute to get your food. These guys have got it down to a science.

The food is excellent and a great value. Salads take a little longer.

Good food, great value. Fried chicken onTuesdays is great, so is BBQ chicken on Wednesdays. Fish on Fridays is more than I can eat.

This small meat and two place has been around for a while in downtown Winston, and continues to serve good country cooking meals. It doesn’t seem as busy now as it did before most of the Wachovia job losses took place. It is a cafeteria setup where you proceed down the line, pick out what you want, and pay at the end. They feature different items daily, with some items available every day. The fried chicken on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and the Fried Flounder on Wednesdays & Fridays are especially good. The fried squash, pintos, lima beans, and deviled eggs are also excellent. A plate lunch of a meat, 2 vegetables, and bread is $ 5.50, tax included — drink is separate. One note: their version of country style steak is really more like beef tips and gravy, very good but a surprise at first. They serve a really good breakfast, and a variety of sandwiches, but alas, no hot dog. The offer chopped BBQ every day, but I would select from the country cooking items.
