Decent, but not super memorable meals were had here. Portions are super huge… even the drinks were quite large. Everything was ok, nothing was wrong but nothing was super impressive. We didn’t hate it or love it, just alright. We were amused that on a Saturday night once we were like the only 2 in the bar at 8:30 and only a few in the whole place. I’d stick with beer or wine or basic mixed drink as the cocktails on the menu are not good.

I had lunch with friends today at Jeffrey Adams. I had the arugula salad(with chicken). It was excellent! My friend said her salmon salad was delicious. Jeffrey Adams is a must try if you are in Winston!

I finally made it to Jeffrey Adams after many years. Last time I had a reservation my son had surgery for an appendicitis so I never made it. Maybe that was a sign. The pricing here is fine dining, but the atmosphere is a strange hybrid of fine dining and bar. The lights are too bright and the music is too loud. When my wife and I arrived we were seated at a booth in the bar, but asked to move because it was loud and we didn’t want to scream across the table all night. They warned us that it would be no less quiet in the main dining room, though we opted to move anyway(and it was better). We decided just to get a snack and drink instead of dinner because the vibe was off. We got the mushroom and artichoke dip, which was good and came with plenty of bread. I got a wedge salad, one of my favorites and a safe bet I thought since J.A. sells itself as a steakhouse. The salad was good enough, but I was served two large wedges which looked to be nearly a whole head of lettuce. In this case, more is not better because there is not enough«toppings» to go around. So I just ate one of the wedges. The drinks were good. My wife got a sangria and I got the«Copper Camel,» a Winston-Salem inflected Moscow Mule. Our server asked me – jokingly, but not really jokingly of course — not to take the copper mug. Testament, no doubt, to the type of clientele the restaurant draws(maybe related to the noise and lighting). That moment notwithstanding, the service was good. No complaints there. But at this price point there are many other options in Winston-Salem with better food and atmosphere.
