I tried for months to get the time to go there and then we did and it was GREAT!!! We talked about going back the following weekend but 3 days later it was closed, what a bummer but im glad I got at least one meal there and really enjoyed and bread pudding was great. Really gonna miss it.

So terribly sad that Augustine’s has closed. I don’t know if I’ll ever taste cassoulet this good again, even in France.

Came on Valentine’s Day with a group of six, but we did come very early(5:15pm), had reservations and were some of the first seated, so got in before the crowd. I would have expected them to be ready for a busy evening but apparently they weren’t. We all chose the prix fix menu. It came with a starter, salad/soup, main course and dessert. Our starters and salads all came out at mixed times, some got appetizer first while some got salads and then vice versa. Can’t understand how they got two courses combined and mixed up. I had the mussels and they tasted rotten to me, but others thought they were okay. Half our group got the steak and all were underdone considerably. They did offer to cook them more but we had plans to see the comedy show in the Stevens Center so just had them as they were due to time. They actually did credit those off the bill which was extremely nice. Also the steaks and salmon portions were massive(apparently they saw previous comments about small portions!). One person also asked not to have pasta and to have vegetables instead because she can’t eat pasta but they gave her pasta anyway. Dessert peach cheesecake was strange and very flat. More like a tart. Wasn’t great. Those who got crème brûlée thought it was very good. The wine was okay. Not fabulous, but not awesome. Our server was very friendly, but I got the impression they were understaffed for the night and obviously the kitchen was a mess. It was fairly chaotic. Honestly, none of us would go back. Just too many other higher quality choices in town, especially at this price.

The positives: Service was excellent, food was okay(not great) The Negatives: We split an appetizer and each ordered entrees. We were still incredibly famished because of their incredibly small portion sizes and decided we would get dessert somewhere else. I don’t expect chain like portions but I also don’t expect portions meant for a 2 year old.

We are from out of town… upstate ny and when we walked in we were greeted by the hostess who remembered us from dinning here the year prior. That was really nice to come in and be remembered by Ally. We stared out with drinks and appetizers and the to start the drinks were really good. I had the mussels and they were very fresh. We also had the frog legs that were tender. Our entrees came out and the food was great. I would rate this place a 5 out of 5 with the service and the food. Thank you Ally for a wonderful time and remembering us a year later.

Where’s the main course? I had high expectations of this place and it’s pricey menu left me wondering why the heck they charge so much for so little. I got the grilled salmon over fettuccine and it was good, but not great. However, the biggest disappointment I had was the portion sizes. If I am paying $ 22+ for a meal I expect not to still be hungry after eating it. I guess I should of looked at the pictures closer because they really skimp on the noodles and with this dish and the salmon wasn’t anything to write home about. Mind you, I am not overweight, and have a normal healthy appetite. Suggestions… Have some sort of bread or even a salad come with the entrée you order. Otherwise that price tag is horrendous for the quality and amount.

I was hesitant to try after Mundo closed. The menu changed as well. I finally decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few really good small plates from Mundo still on the new menu, especially the super tasty Thai Shrimp and Mushroom Toast. My girlfriend and I had an excellent meal and will be back again soon.

We had a wonderful dinner tonight for our anniversary. I had the Crab Cakes small plate & the Pistachio Crusted Chicken Breast… both were fabulous. My wife had the Quiche special… she loved it & my taste was niiiiice… great blend of flavors. The CRÈMEBRÛLÉE was the best we’ve had with the caramelized top a little thicker than is typical… that was nice too. The service was at a very friendly & at a pleasant pace. Relaxing view of 4th street also. This was our first visit but we will definitely return.

I wanted to really like this place but I was a bit disappointed. I really loved Mundo’s Tapas so I was sad to hear it closed. Winston needs a good tapas place! There are a few things from Mundo’s that are on this menu here as well(since one of the chef/owners stayed on) things like the mushroom toast and cheese and meat boards. I am always saying that I would love for Winston to have a French restaurant, I thought this would fit the bill! It did not fit the bill for me. It has a few French dishes on there think frog legs and steak frites but isn’t filled with what I was looking for I guess. I was hoping for more along the lines of Bouchon in Asheville, but I guess they do call themselves French/American not just a French restaurant. I started with the potato and leek soup. It tasted awesome but was luke warm at best. I was going to ask for them to pop it in the microwave but no one came by and I was hungry so I just ate it. I would get that again as long as it was hot. For my main dish I went with the short rib burger with frites. I think I just had something else in mind when I thought of a short rib burger, this just tasted like your standard ground beef sirloin to me. The frites had a garlic aioli which was awesome! The service was okay, but you can tell everyone is new and a little confused. I will try them again in a few months.
