Run of the mill diner. Nothing special or great. Prices are good and soda is cold. Friendly staff and lots of regulars.

I got a real down home feel when we dined here. The staff literally knew everyone’s name. It was like a scene from Cheers. I am soooo serious. Our waitress was as sweet as pie and the food was tasty. My boyfriend got the lamb gyro and fries which he’s been craving from here all week. I had the cheddar cheeseburger with bacon and hot chips(think kettle chips heated up). I’m a burger snob so trust me when I say this simple burger was AMAZING. The bill only came to 18 and some change which included unlimited sweet tea refills. I’ll definitely be a lunch regular.

Friends of ours love this place, so we decided to try it out with them. The interior is more of a bar setting and they have a small patio outside to sit at. We opted for the patio being it was a beautiful day. I checked out their menu online ahead of time and noticed they had Greek spaghetti(it’s a difference in the sauce), and I was set. I asked the server about it but she had no idea what I was talking about, so I just ordered the spaghetti. It was a hearty portion with thick meat sauce. The sauce had a warm heat to it, but wasn’t spicy. My daughter ordered it as well, and even though she doesn’t like anything spicy, she said it was great. They brought us garlic bread to go with the pasta, but I found it very bland and under seasoned. There was definitely no garlic taste to it. My husband ordered the gyro with lamb and French fries. The lamb was shaved as opposed to pieces. It’s not a problem, but some people prefer it one way over the other. He said it was decent. Of course, he thought twice about that four hours later when he was up for an hour sick to his stomach. Apparently it didn’t like him even more than he liked it. The server was attentive and on the ball. We had parties show up at different times, and yet all the meals came out together. Drinks stayed full and she brought whatever we needed. And she was friendly as well. As far as the restaurant goes, I don’t think I would make the drive just for it. Nothing screamed unique or absolutely delicious to me. But if you go, get the spaghetti. It IS pretty darn good.

This place is okay! It’s very quaint and feels very… I guess, ‘local’. I got the impression that the four other people there were regulars. I sit at the bar and the wait staff were super sweet. I went in around 5:30 — 6pm on a Friday and ordered their cheese burger. That’s part of the reason I stopped in, because I was wanting a cheese burger and I didn’t want to go to a traditional fast-food place. The burger was good! I really liked their long, thin, and crispy fries. Maybe I’ll try their breakfast menu sometime.

In going home and visiting the folks, I’ve had experiences at The Lighthouse near downtown Winston-Salem. Seems it has been a well known eatery in these parts for quite a while as my mother used to go there when she got her first job in d’town W-S. I’ve had the opportunity to sample both breakfast and lunch at The Lighthouse and I have to say it’s ok. The atmosphere is simple and diner in feel, comfortable if you want a good casual place to grab a quick bite. The menu there is mostly diner-like items, the staple type menu for the type of restaurant. The breakfast was ok, it hit the spot but nothing I would point out as a standout. My most recent visit was around lunch, and the hamburger steak was pretty good, great taste and portion. If there is something I would think they need to step-it-up with, I’d say service interactions with customers. With the exception of one staff member, I’d have to say the servers I have encountered have either been devoid of a smile/happy demeanor or just could not get the order correct just writing it down on the pad(repeating what was ordered two or three times, frustrating experience). The prices are good and nice for grabbing a quick lunch or very casual meal. Bottom line: An A-OK diner type establishment near d’town W-S to grab some simple eats for breakfast or lunch. Customer interactions could be a bit better as above. Would I stop by for a quick bite again? Probably so.

The Lighthouse just wasn’t my thing! I went in hoping for some breakfast, I did not realize they stopped serving breakfast when they switched over to their lunch menu. The menu has a little blah to me, I don’t know what it was but nothing really appealed to me. We went in around lunch and since it was close to Thanksgiving the place was pretty dead. Our waitress was so rude and abrupt that it was a bit shocking to me. I don’t need the friendliest person in the world but maybe a smile here or there would be nice. My boyfriend got their chicken fingers, which he enjoyed. I got the ham sandwich and it is nice that they use their honey baked ham for it. The chips and ranch were probably the highlight of the lunch.

Classic old school diner. This is a favorite of the locals, especially for lunch. Menu is wide ranging including gyros, sandwiches, burgers and blue plate specials. Menu is best described as an American, Southern and Greek fusion. I have eaten here for years and the food is solid. The burgers are very good and the pies are off the charts(coconut rocks). The daily specials are solid as well. Quick Overview — Diverse menu — Easy on the wallet(cash and credit cards accepted) — Good food(breakfast, lunch and dinner) — They do have beer and wine — Bar stool seating available up front with TVs — You seat yourself(don’t stand there like a dufus waiting for a hostess) — If going for lunch, get there before noon on business days unless you want to be a booth vulture.

How I failed nto mention their Cheeseburger in my previous review, I don’t know — so many good choices, so little time, I guess. This is an excellent diner style burger, and by diner syle I mean the patty is a little on the thin side(but the taste is there), and the bun is almost always a traditional hamburger bun — not a Kaiser, not a brioche, not a potato bun, not glutten-free, and for goodness sakes, not a pretzel bun. The cheese here is cheddar, and it is a little thin, but tasty. The bun is toasted, which I like. And I always get the house made potato chips — they are very, very good. These chips dipped in the house made Ranch Dressing are among my favorites.

I must admit, we tend to frequent this place already simply due to the drink prices. There are not many places that you can get a $ 9 – 13 bottle of wine and $ 2 beers. The food is pretty average but quite inexpensive. Oh yes, but the grilled cheese is quite yummy. I think the servers are super friendly and conversational and the whole place is just very laid back. Sure, a bit outdated but seems to be part of the charm and personality of the place.

Never had a bad meal here. The service is cheerful and the portions reasonably sized and priced. Very kid and family friendly. Lots of Southern diner staples as well as some Mediterranean and other fusion favorites. The décor doesn’t seem to have been updated since the 1950s, that’s either a good thing or a bad thing. I think it’s a good thing!

This place is located downtown in Winston Salem and is a family type restaurant with a family style atmosphere. Personally, I have eaten here a couple of times and I would say that it is good for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Nothing that I have ever gotten here has blown me away. They have everything from burgers to chicken and seafood to spaghetti. My meal tasted bland and as if it had been sitting a while or maybe even left over from the previous day??? Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I would think it is hard to mess up green beans. The one thing about this place is that service is fast and there is ample parking for it to be downtown! :)

Great relaxed atmosphere but food that is just so-so. I got the gyro and it was far too bland for a town that has so much Greek influence. A local told me he eats here at least three times a week, so maybe I ordered the wrong item.

Went here for lunch a couple weeks back. Got their Monday country style steak special. It was incredibly disappointing, it looked and felt like it had been cooked somewhere else, defrosted, and served to me with a warmed cup of Ragu. The price was fairly low, but for that price you can get better food at Chick-fil-A or Cookout. On the plus side, it was clean and the people there seemed nice. They’ll let you take your drink in a cup to go which is a nice touch. I’m a picky rater so I’m only giving it two stars, the food was just too bland and lifeless to send me any higher. However, not a terrible place if you want a change of pace though and can’t spend any money. Oh, be forewarned, there is no seafood on the menu.

Pretty good place and pretty good food… The BLT with fries is like $ 4.50, and a bottle of wine is anywhere from $ 7-$ 15… and yes I said BOTTLE… The service is usually good, the food I am usually satisfied with… Its no Ruth’s Chris, but neither are they trying to be or charging those prices!

Went here 4 times for breakfast. Good service, good food. Pretty good selection. I think I stuck with with the western omelet each time. and also had hash browns with peppers and onions. Had some friends get a variety of other things, all were happy, hence we all kept coming back. They said the french toast was fabulous.

A co-worker told me about the Lighthouse, so I tried it out for myself. I’ve been several times now, and I’ll tell you my favorites. On their everyday menu, they have open face roast beef. Slices of roast beef on bread and topped with gravy. It comes with a pickle and fries or salad. I got their fries topped with gravy. Oh my! It was good. Maybe you haven’t had fries topped with brown gravy, but just try it. Goooood! On Mondays they have Country Style Steak(very good) and Franks with baked beans. The baked beans are cooked with green pepper in them. Not my favorite. On Tuesday I had the baked meatloaf. It was not my favorite. The Franks and baked beans, and the meatloaf are the only 2 things that I’ve had that were just okay to me. But now for Wedesday, my favorite day at the Lighthouse. They have Roast loin of pork. It is great. Without a doubt, the best thing I’ve had there. I also have been on Thursdays(Salisbury Steak-very good) and(Italian baked chicken-very good). Oh I almost forgot, the coconut and chocolate pie are very good.
