Great place to grab lunch in downtown. My favorite is the Jezebel — pita with grilled chicken and spicy sauce. The falafels are great too! Crunchy and soft in the inside. They have a great loyalty program, where you get 1 free dish for every 10 orders. So, don’t forget to ask for their loyalty card.

Mooney’s never disappoints! Such a nice place to have downtown. Pros: fresh and flavorful food, generous portions, lots of vegetarian options, reasonably priced, can refill your own drink, outside seating available, friendly staff, falafel Tuesdays, nice wine and beer selection, and they make an effort to buy things locally(beef, baked goods, coffee) Cons: None other than you may have to wait a little bit at peak times as it’s popular!

Husband had falafel, I had the chicken garden pita, and son had humus and pita. The falafel was nice and crunchy! My garden pita was fresh and had the right blend of meat to salad. We were os pleased that we ordered some dinner to go(we were there for lunch).

I stopped here to grab something quick to satify my Mediterranean Craving, Firstly I was told that the Unilocal check in offer on Tuesday’s only worked for their Lunch timings which Unilocal diddnt say so . I got their sampler with 2x Hummus and Falafel . Falafel were some of the best I had and super Crispy and I have had better Hummus before . Our waiter was friendly . Overall there is nothing that would drag me back to this place again based on my experience today but I am positive their meat dishes are tasty.

This place is amazing. I got the Jezebel Pita and it was a revelation. The meal with fries was $ 8 so not too bad on price at all. Take out only took about 10 minutes so not a long wait either. I love this place and will be a loyal customer going forward as I live about 3 blocks away.

Cool spot for lunch. The falafel is bigger and crispier than I’m used to, but it had a very good flavor. If you’re really hungry, get the falafel burger

I always enjoy eating at Mooney’s. The food is generally pretty good, but not the best Mediterranean cuisine I’ve had. Like today, the meat in the shwarma pita was OK, but there was so much liquid in the filling that the second half of the pita was impossible to eat. Just fell apart in a sea of liquid. My wife’s falafel platter was better, but both were a bit pricey for my taste for lunch. The shwarma pita was $ 8, just for the pita. A side was extra. If I would have gotten a drink I would have been to $ 12. Downtown pricing, I guess. I have no problem going back, as I have been several times. But I don’t have super high expectations when I go.

The falafel was legit. Crunchy on the outside and good texture on the inside. Baba ganouj was delicious as well as the tabouli. The gyro was delicious as well. We would go back for certain.

Wonderful spot for Mediterranean food! The kafta is delicious and highly recommended. Reasonable prices– not cheap but won’t break the bank either. Stop in for lunch or dinner!

Visited last week with a larger group and Mooney’s couldn’t have been more accommodating. They had the tables already together when we arrived and water at each seat. Our waitress was efficient and helpful in explanations and recommendations. I ended up ordering the Jezebel, which was a chicken pita with a very tasty dressing, swiss cheese, slaw and a small splash of sriracha. It was very tasty and came with a large, piping hot order of crispy french fries. My partner in crime ordered the Tripoli chicken salad, which featured deliciously seasoned chicken with cous cous and feta over lettuce. It was all tossed in a mild lemon olive oil dressing and was a fantastic combination. Only disappointing factor was the drink selection — Wednesday is advertised on their website as $ 3NC beer. Normally, I would consider this to be the plural«beer» but they only had one available! That was a bit of a bummer, but I understand that running out can certainly happen. Either way, I look forward to visiting again next time I’m in downtown Winston!

Fast and friendly service and the best damn falafel in the triad area. Crispy, hot, and perfectly portioned, their falafel sandwich is my go-to every time. I recommend putting your fries in the pita too! The fries can stand alone, though: thick and chunky and clearly part of a potato. Would definitely recommend coming here on a date and sitting outside to eat and people-watch! They are also family friendly! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait.

Went here for lunch and had a really great shawarma pita wrap. The menu is really extensive and I wish I had tried more things on the menu. I’d definitely recommend going for lunch and sitting outside when it’s nice out– it’s on a quieter portion of 4th street downtown.

We were in the Hanes Mall area, looking for a Greek menu restaurant. The one we typically go to changed some of their menu and food had just become greasy and bland. We found Mooney’s and although it was in the opposite direction we wanted to go, it only took us 10 minutes to get there. It is on a corner in a building with great architecture. The café menu is chalkboard style but very easy to read, menu items grouped together in a way that is understandable and the décor was contemporary masculine with a real cozy feel. The restaurant was also very clean, which is automatically one more star for me! I ordered a sample mezza platter with my 4 choices of baba ghanouj, falafel, mousaka and lentil soup. The fellow who took our orders was very knowledgable, and was able to answer very specific questions I asked about the menu. No, the baba ghanouj did not have yogurt, yes all vegetarian menu items were vegan and everything in their menu is gluten-free! The mousaka was spicy but not too spicy, it was so good that I scarfed it down before I realized I forgot to take a picture of it, haha! The falafel was crisp, not greasy and I strange after taste like I have experienced in so many Mediterranean restaurants. The baba ghanouj was so creamy and delightful that I ordered a large container to take home with me so I could enjoy it all week! It will be tough to keep my teens hands out of it! And the lentil soup was seasoned just right. Although a small street corner café, I will seek out the opportunity to eat here every chance I am in town, well done, Mooney’s! ** Posted pic of empty bowl was previously filled with delicious mousaka, not baba ghanouj!

I am a sucker for Middle Eastern food. Unfortunately, Winston only has this one place, but it is an okay place! I believe it is Lebanese-owned, but could be mistaken. It’s worth checking out for sure. I had the falafel pita and it was satisfactory. The falafel tasted fresh, and the pickled beets added a nice tangyness. The hummus on the side was good, but had a little too much oil for my taste. The coolest part about this place is that they sell a Lebanese pilsner! It was very light and bubbly and was overall a good beer choice. The waiter seemed new and was a bit awkward, but his service was good. He forgot my beer at first, but he made up for it by being super attentive the rest of the time. A for effort. The one thing I didn’t like was that the décor was not authentic at all. I’m used to Middle Eastern restaurants with tapestries, Persian rugs, and people smoking hookah. It didn’t feel like a true Middle Eastern dining experience to me, but since we are in Downtown Winston, I guess it’ll have to do!

I have some favorite Mediterranean restaurants all over the US that I have discovered during my work travels so I am pretty picky when it comes to my favorite meal at this type of place. I usually get fattoush and lentil soup which is what I got here. The fattoush salad was missing the usual pita pieces in the salad which, if you look up on Wikipedia, is the entire base of this type of salad. Also it was lacking sumac another staple of a fattoush salad. So basically this was just a salad with herb dressing. So I was disappointed that the salad was masquerading as fattoush. The lentil soup was good but not necessarily Mediterranean since it had a slight curry flavor. It would have also been a nice touch if the soup was served with a few slices of pita. The staff were nice but busy and hard to flag down to get the check. Overall food was«ok». Definitely have had much better, but I like that they have lots of vegetarian options and if you don’t know true Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine then this is a pretty good.
