Stopped here with my wife after strolling through the Reynolda gardens for a quick bite to eat. This is a very neat little place that uses fresh baked good from Diovolas(down the road). We split a grilled chicken sandwich on focaccia and doubled up on the sides. She had the pasta salad and I the carrots with Thai peanut dressing. Both were amazing an the sandwich was more than enough for the both of us. Great stop for a great sandwich.

I was originally planning to grab a sandwich from their«market» store but saw that homemade pasta was only served at this location. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo and Caprese Salad. My total was 29 $ Kind of pricy but this was a splurge. The Caprese Salad was very yummy. I usually don’t order this outside of tomato season because that only leads to disappointment but they were delicious. Only thing I could find to complain about is the cheese isn’t exactly the texture I would normally expect from fresh mozzarella. There wasn’t a «bite» to it. It was almost the texture of Feta? The Alfredo… was super buttery which actually I was expecting. The pasta was a huge clump. I have had fresh pasta before but I do not consider myself an expert on what to expect. I don’t think a globby mess should be in those expectations though. It tasted fine just texture was off for me. The chicken was pretty uneventful. You get one half of a breast that’s beaten flat. There are some seasonings but nothing stood out to me. Overall I would go back for the Salad.

This restaurant has some great things going for it. The building is historic and charming, the location in Reynolda Village is convenient, the fresh pasta and bread were very good. However, the food is not hot enough. We went in November when it was cold out, and it was cold inside the restaurant too. They should warm the plates and bowls before putting the food in them because the food cools down too quickly. I like my food to be piping hot when it is brought to the table, and this food was barely warm. Also, our waiter was disinterested. He hardly paid any attention to us at all.

Always wanted to try this place as it looks quaint and is advertised as tapas. The menu wasn’t exactly as I expected as it had a small appetizer section but mostly entrees and pasta dishes. My pasta Primavera with Salmon was excellent though. Could tell the pasta was freshly made and salmon was cooked and seasoned great.

Been here now for one lunch and two dinners and have had excellent service and delicious food each time. The pasta primavera is amazing, as are the homemade donuts. Everyone in our dinner party last night really enjoyed their meal and our waiter was attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is lovely.

My first trip there was for lunch. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the soup of the day. The chicken sandwich comes on focaccia and is all around wonderful. The only area for improvement with the sandwich was the chicken. It seemed a little tough. It was hard to take a bite without having to grind through the chicken. I wound up using a fork and knife to avoid bad table manners. The flavor though was DELICIOUS! As for the soup, the flavor was also wonderful, but it was served in a small ramekin rather than a cup or bowl. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen soup in a ramekin. It was just enough for a taste. So, overall the service and flavor is wonderful, but there are minor things they could tweak to improve. 4 stars.

It’s true… it’s meh. For being in Reynolda Village, you’d think we’d have some good places to eat, but being one of three places, this would be my last stop. Actually, I think I’d rather drive down the road and find something else. The service is slow and the staff is disinterested, the food is mediocre at best, and the prices high for the service and food you get.

Loved this place! Fresh homemade pasta was perfect. I had the chicken manicotti and it was decadent. Pricing was fair, our waitress was super friendly and the service was excellent. What more can you ask for? This place is small, so it can get kind of loud and crowded, so if you’re looking for intimate and quiet, it might not be for you, but enduring else was perfect!

Charming Restaurant in an old Blacksmith Forge Building has an interesting history. It was first of all a forge and part of which is still remaining and then for the next 70 years or so, an artist studio. Found this place by accident looking for the Village Tavern. th are in Reynolda Village but Pane E Vino is obvious while Village Tavern is tucked away and if you’re not paying attention, an easy mistake to make and one I’m glad I did. My Companion and I arrived for dinner around 6 and were promptly seated since it was early yet. Our server promptly gave us our menu’s and took our drink order and explained the specials of the day. When she came back, we both order the Caesar Salads followed by the Special of the Day which was a Salmon Filet on a bed of Risotto with braised vegetables on the side. One of the best Salmon dishes I have had in a long. Salmon was nice and flaky, moist with good flavor. Risotto was was good but not a creamy as I normally like. All in all, the cusine was outstanding. The restaurant is small but intimate with a period feel and as I have mentioned, a very attentive staff. A good meal, nice setting, good service and a very pleasant Companion makes for the perfect meal.

I love this place. It is exactly what it’s supposed to be. Good food, interesting eclectic wine list and service that is stellar. Nicole is awesome… It is a small, quaint restaurant that serves good food, great homemade donuts and the perfect cup of espresso. What more could you want. Keep up the great work. see ya soon!

Food was delicious, staff was lovely and the décor is super cozy. This place is a little gem tucked in the back of Reynolda Village. I would absolutely go back.

Very delicious !!! I had the bruschetta to start with which is sooooo Devine I would recommend to anyone. Then as my entrée the homemade spaghetti with clams. A little saucy but it did hit my taste buds … I had a problem with my coffee which was just beans in it but my waitress was so sweet and very quick to fix it …

Went for lunch with a friend, service was great, food was good, atmosphere is cozy. However it’s over-priced for the amount of food you get… We both got sandwiches with a side of carrots and thai pb dressing(which is delicious) that were $ 9 or $ 10 each… the sandwiches were mostly bread and the portions were really small(just a few carrot slices for the side) — I’d like to come back but don’t know if I can justify spending that much for the amount of food. I understand that quality ingredients are more expensive, but we both agreed our sandwiches were mostly bread and that carrots shouldn’t cost that much, so they could at least give more for the side… There are other places in Winston that have same quality ingredients but get you more bang for your buck.

We ate here last night for the first time although several of our friends have advised us to try Pane E Vino. We got here a little early right at 5pm, and absolutely no one was there. So we had the full attention of the staff. My first impression of the dining room was that it seemed really small, from the road it seems to be a much larger place. It was nice though. We started the evening with a hanger steak and caramelized onion flatbread pizza, and a plate of cheeses, meats, and olives. Both were really nice, I love the goat cheese, and it was great when paired with the dried fig. The pizza was finished with fresh arugula, and it was a great contrast with the sauce and melted cheese. We selected the Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and Four Cheese Ravioli with a pesto cream sauce for entrees. The winner here was the ravioli. Nice and al dente and nice subtle flavors intermingling. The fettuccini was well cooked but a touch bland and the shrimp were a little overcooked. We enjoyed a bottle of Marsuret prosecco through out the meal. This is a nice brut wine that went well with the apps and entrees. Topping off the meal was a shared dessert of Cannoli. a nice sweetened ricotta cheese infused with vanilla and cinnamon piped into a crunch shell and topped with chocolate chips and powdered sugar, and garnished with a light whipped cream. I can not see how anyone could eat more than one of those super rich yet delightful morsels! so rich in fact my wife had to order a cappuccino to cut the richness, Certainly a new restaurant that we are going to add to our regular rotation.

I enjoyed my first trip here. The homemade pasta and other menu items make it stand out from other Italian restaurants in the area. We started with the bruchetta appetizer. They were very tasty and easy to eat. I liked the fig flavor a lot but the other two both had tomatoes and I would have liked more variety. I ordered the spaghetti with clams. I was expecting a white sauce but it was red. It was really delicious. The homemade pasta made it special and there were a nice amount of clams. The bread served with it was good. I also liked the bread sticks served at the table. For dessert we had the coffee and doughnuts. They were really excellent. The doughnuts were freshly fried and light and airy. The gelato was great as well. Service was good and I enjoyed eating on the patio. I will return.

We had the turkey gobbler and the prosciutto panini– both were excellent– actually better than we expected. Lately we read the menu and something sounds so good but when you get it, it disappoints– not so here! The pasta salad was very good, as well as the soup. The server wasn’t the most attentive, but other servers we observed were better. We will definitely be back!!! Also, the ample outdoor seating is a major plus.

Heard some positive things about the food and restaurant, so I checked it out for lunch. Nothing special. I got the veggie sandwich, and it was good, particularly because of the cheese. Granted, I don’t think it was worth the price at all. I got a side of couscous and was disappointed. The service was great and everyone was very nice. However, I wasn’t there at peak hours, so I cannot imagine what it would be like if that place was packed. Parking is awful. Expect to park away from the area. Beautiful atmosphere and interior.

I have been to Pane E Vino a few times and overall have not been disappointed. The lunch menu can leave a little to be desired and the prices are not cheap. But, they make a grill cheese with brown sugar that is pretty delicious. I went in for breakfast once and was confused by the setup and thought they only had the baked goods in the case but apparently they have a whole breakfast line up that I was not aware of. I wish they would have asked me if I would have liked to see a menu then. For dinner they offer a great assortment of small plates. I much prefer this route because you can try more things and not break the bank. All of the small plates were around $ 10. I tried the bruschetta and it was awesome. I normally don’t go for bruschetta but this had three separate kinds as part of the dish. One was your traditional tomato mozzarella, one was tomato, balsamic, and ricotta, and the last fig, porsciutto, and goat cheese. I really enjoyed the variety. We also got the flank steak pizza and although very little flank steak was on it, the flavor was really good. This place isn’t too big but we went in on a Saturday night and didn’t have to wait. As we were leaving about 7:30 the place did pick up a bit. They are now offering Sunday brunch which I would love to try! I have been back a few times since my last review and have really enjoyed it each time. I could eat that bruschetta all day everyday the variety just makes it so good. The brunch was good. They make a great hollandaise sauce. It was pretty quiet in there for brunch, which was a nice contrast to having to make reservations at some of the other local brunch spots. They have done some menu editing and now serve homemade pasta with both lunch and dinner.

A pretty place in a historic blacksmith’s workshop with a beautiful look for the beautiful people. Lots of servers and a kitchen so slow that university researchers studying glaciers could use the kitchen for a time control. Menu and look seem more new French/tapas than Italian. Perhaps En Retard would be a better name change. Right next to Wake Forest they need to up their game. 50 minutes for a club and an antipasto plate?

Yum! I mourned the passing of SimplyYummy! because I really liked that place but I think Pane E Vino is going to be a good replacement. I stopped in for lunch the other day. It was PERFECT weather and my coworker and I sat outside on their(now expanded) patio. The menu has lots of attractive sandwiches and salads. I am a grade-A sucker for pimento cheese so I had to try theirs. I also had to(really, it’s a compulsion) add bacon. So I’m set-up with a Grilled Pimento Cheese & Bacon sandwich. Man, this sandwich was big and awesome. Great flavor, the melty pimento cheese, the buttery toasted bread.. .. yea, it’s that good. I got the carrot sticks with thai peanut dipping sauce as my side. Really good too. I actually sheepishly asked for more peanut dipping sauce because I found myself smothering the carrots in it. This place is definitely worth a stop. It’s going to be tough deciding between Pane E Vino and Silo for Reynolda Village lunches in the future. Flip a coin. Both are really solid choices.
