Obviously I erred by thinking this was a sandwich shop instead of a coffee shop. My mom and I were hungry and looking to grab a quick bite to eat. I had the roast beef sandwich in a pita and was really, really disappointed. I’ve had numerous coffee-shop sandwiches, and this was by far the most disappointing. I could make a better, more interesting sandwich at home. And I was still hungry when we left. Not a good experience. I was also pretty disgusted that they served the sandwiches in big styrofoam boxes, even though I indicated I would be eating there. Way to be hip, Maestro.

The décor is a little confusing(mod shapes with some Turkish references) and the music is eclectic, but don’t let that deter you from giving this interesting little coffee spot a shot. I ordered a hazelnut truffle iced coffee which was pretty good — I appreciate the particular brew they used. It was strong but not bitter or overpowering, just enough flavor to balance with the syrupy sweetness. Reviewer Barie is right though, it’s a different atmosphere from the other coffee shops on Park Ave, so it’s nice to have a little variety. Sitting at the table inside, I was attacked by mosquitoes — on a Sunday afternoon? Indoors? Weird.

I think it would be impossible to open a coffee shop on Park Ave, serve illy brand coffee, have interesting art, and fail. This is the exact model that Maestro follows. Although, being the forth coffee shop on Park Ave, it was smart of them to move into the opposite end from Palmano’s and Starbucks. I had the double latte, it was good. They also offer a wide selection of pastries and sweets as well and sandwiches. I was only there for the coffee so I cannot comment on the quality of the food. The staff was quiet but friendly. It was late Sunday afternoon so there were not many patrons. My friend and I sat inside and discussed the very odd design scheme they have going. Nothing really went together and it didn’t make sense, and not in a good way. I wasn’t sure what kind of feel they were going for at all. This really has nothing to do with the service, coffee or food, but I thought it was worth a mention. If you’re on that side of Park Ave, I suggest stopping in.

We were killing time on Park Ave today and decide to grab a coffee before we hit the road. We walked into this shop and realized that we may have found something special when it comes to cleaning the palette after a meal. I took a single espresso shot and my wife took a café latte, and both rocked and were well made. We didn’t indulge in the pastries that had to offer the coffees did the trick. We’ll stop back in this place to pick up some other treats the next time we are in the area which is trending toward every Saturday as we make a pilgrimage to see if the Briar Patch has their famous praline ice cream available. The owner said he had been opened since January, but I can’t find this place in Unilocal,or the address on the yellow pages site. The way the shop was decorated was original and not boring either. They have(re)used different types of coffee containers(burlap, metal illy containers, etc.) to give this place some simple and original charm. Don’t take my word for it, go check it out and let us know what you think.
