It’s a beautiful Sunday morning. Here I am in Winters: A cute small little town. I look on my phone for something to do and to my luck I find a Groupon. A Groupon for Rootstock that will give me wine tasting, olive oil tasting, and chocolate tasting. As I sat there tasting wine I noticed the store was busy and short staffed. I thought I wouldn’t get quick service but boy was I wrong. To my avail comes Sylvia! Sylvia is incredible! She was able to manage a crowded place all while giving me very attentive service. The wine was delicious, the olive oil was succulent, and the chocolate was paired wonderfully with the wine. But the best part was Sylvia, she is a great server and knows how to make you feel welcome. Thank you Sylvia!

Root Stock is a cute little gift shop with an art gallery, great wine, and people. I went in there when Amanda was tending and she is the sweetest person ever(please have a chat with her and tip her big!). I definitely recommend this place if you are just looking for somewhere to chill on a hot summer’s day, find a little souvenir/trinket from Winters, or enjoy some wine tasting.

Rootstock is a sweet place. It’s a very cute boutique located in the heart of charming Winters. The balsamics are amazing. I got a pomegranate one that rocked my mouth’s world. The art gallery in the back is very charming. I got a LivingSocial deal for olive oil, wine, and chocolate tasting for two. Even if the deal has expired, do that.

A great place to stop by if you are looking for something to do on a hot summer afternoon. The tasting room offers wine from 5 local vineyards. There are also olive oil and chocolate tastings which are delicious. The tasting room is very cute and is filled with lots off little trinkets you can purchase. There is also a separate art gallery. I would highly recommend going to Rootstock.

This little spot is just a couple doors down from the Buckhorn restaurant. They represent 5 wineries and you can taste their wines here. There is also a nice selection of Napa-esque serving and table wares. However,” my favorite feature is the selection of original painting hanging on the walls. There are some very nice original paintings for sale. I’m not a jewelry girl, but I’d be thrilled to get one of those for a gift.(Mother’s Day? Anniversary? Hint hint). Root Stock also offers occasional«sip & paint» type events where you can enjoy the vino and paint your own masterpiece. Come in and see the artwork, taste a few wines and grab a schedule if coming events.

Great wine tasting room! And the owner hosts a great 2nd Saturday event. Always an interesting mix of music and art. The tasting room also has a nice selection of unique gift items.

I think this rates as the best wine tasting experience we’ve ever had. We went in around mid-day on a Thursday, and had the place virtually to ourselves the entire time. The manager, Lynda Hinda, took us through range of wines, roughly 10 or 12 tastings total, and we just chatted with her the entire time. Nearly all the wines were quite good, and very reasonably priced. We ended up getting three bottles, two of the Route 3 GdD table wine, and one of the Seka Hills Tuluk’a. The tasting room is beautiful, with a neat landscape mural covering one wall. Lynda also is set up for olive oil tastings too, which we’d like to try next time. There’s lots of interesting art work, pottery, and packaged edibles too. And did I mention that the wine tastings are free? Highly Recommended!

The tasting room of Root Stock is by far one of the more unique tasting rooms in the area. They have many wine related items that make for great gifts to the vino fans in your life. The tasting room offers a variety of different wineries and their wines. For a fun afternoon, make sure you add Root Stock to your tasting list and stop in for a complimentary tasting of some unique wines.

I went wine tasting at Root Stock on a Saturday and truly enjoyed the experience. It was very casual and the nice gentleman pouring us wine was very knowledgeable, funny, and personable. It was nice going wine tasting and not feeling pressured to buy wine. Still, I’m confident that you’ll leave with a bottle or two that you like since the wines here are all very drinkable and reasonably priced.

I came by today and met Lynda, a very kind and easy going sommelier. During my visit, I also met Erin, a local townsperson who has lived in town for 20 years(she’s also known what living in Davis and Woodland has been like). I’ve always been drawn to or curious about Winters. This spot is a one stop shop for wine tasting, bringing together the wines of 3 – 4 vineyards. There is a cute abundance of local art and homemade goods available for you to shop through here. They have a wonderful selection of locally made olive oils with a sampling bar. Thanks to Lynda and Erin, I learned about the local annual events here that keep folks participating and interested in Winters such as the annual plein air fest(I am looking forward to participating), and the jumbalaya cook off(in the fall) which I am dying to enjoy. If you want a slice of local flavor visit Rootstock.
