Go here. Period. I’m keeping this short bc it’s that good. Hole in the wall style joint. Ordered the chicken parm. Chicken was juicy — not pounded to a pulp. Sauce is fresh and seasoned perfectly. Breading was beautifully balanced to meat. Owner is just awesome. Asked him for a few cooking tips and he was more than happy to oblige. Passionate and modest. Every time I’m in Boston I will make it a point to go here. Friend had the chicken bracciolettini in white sauce. He’s an incredible chef who summed up the execution with one word. Excellent. Enjoy! You won’t be disappointed.

Hands down my favorite place to go for home made pasta! Love everything about this place. Food is absolutely unbelievable! Best pasta dish is their bolognese with home made fusilli. But everything I’ve tried blows me away. They have some really wonderful appetizers too. Only issue can be the wait. So definitely better to call and make reservations. I hear their pizza is ridiculously good to. Need to try that myself.

Such amazing Italian food .The service is amazing too. Its is a very small restaurant so be prepared to be sitting very close to the tables around you. I’ve never had a bad meal here and portions are huge. Great place for a date

If Unilocal had more than 5 stars this restaurant would surely get them from me! Love… Love…Love this hidden jewel. Best homemade pasta and Italian food around. The owners and waitstaff make you feel like you are eating at home. Don’t forget your bottle of wine… it’s byob. You will not be sorry taking the drive into Winthrop and will probably make this your favorite place to eat also.

We had reservations but still Made to wait 45minutes they did serve us a flatbread pizza on the house to make up for it Food was good not great one of our party of 6 sent back his meal he is picky Mine was way too salty What pissed us off the most was that we tried to add one extra guest to our party and they adamantly refused to let us yet by the time we were seated(late) the place was empty I will go back but will order Take out and sit on the beach to eat it

The food is ok„ but really over priced. A simple dish of pasta Ziti with tomato sauce almost $ 13.00. The pasta isn’t even home made and is over cooked. Like many Italian American restaurants, it seems as if they cook the pasta in the morning and when needed, they reheat it in boiling water and serve it with gallons of sauce! Not very promising if you are looking for an authentic Italian meal when the chef and kitchen staff are speaking Spanish. Really dislike chicken and veal being served over pasta. In authentic Italian restaurants pasta is served first and then the main course with a salad or vegetable. Restaurants such as these should designate themselves«Italian American.»

My wife and I had lunch here on a brisk, windy day as we were staying in Winthrop for a few days. Our hosts had recommended Rossetti’s, in addition to us having read the rave reviews on Unilocal. We were NOT disappointed. I had sautéed chicken breasts with capers and homemade pasta, and my wife had a pasta dish w fresh Italian sausage. Oh, the appetizers of figs wrapped in prosciutto w goat cheese was AMAZING! Our main courses were brought out piping hot and were absolutely delicious. We finished off lunch w fresh cannoli and cappuccinos and could not have been happier. This place has a strong local following for obvious reasons — well prepared and fresh food in a homey atmosphere, right across the street from the beach. This is a small place and I imagine it is packed in the evenings. There is no alcohol served, but bring your own wine! Most highly recommended.

I moved to Winthrop about a 1.5 years ago and really was missing a good pizza place in the east boston /winthrop area. I tried Santarpio’s pizza 3 times and got tired of their burnt with such little toppings pizza. When i ask for the bottom to be cooked that does not mean burn it! So I tried café Rossetti. They make decent pizza, not the best I ever had, but good enough to quench my pizza cravings. It depends on what you get. Sometimes I get a lot of toppings hence I asked for the bottom of the pizza to be cooked so that the toppings don’t fall off. Café Rossetti does not burnt the bottom like Santarpio’s. Also Café Rosetti use fresh ingredients which taste really well. I just wish their pizza sauce had more flavor to it and that the crust was more thin. Now their none pizza items are really good. I love their linguine with white clam sauce. I always ask them to take the shells off the clams and they just put a ton of fresh clams on the linguine. I also love their desserts. They make awesome cannolis too. The filling is just sweet enough with a crispy shell. I love their customer service. The ladies who answer the phones are always nice and pleasant. I do have a recommendation for them. I wish I could order online from them. Sometimes it takes forever to give them my credit card number over the phone.

Can not say enough good things about this place. The food is out of this world. The pizza is probably the best I’ve ever had in Boston, the shrimp scampi tastes like the caught the shrimp that morning, the veal parm is so delicious(and the portions are HUGE), and we have never had a dessert we didn’t love! It’s also BYOB so you can bring whatever beer or wine you prefer. The atmosphere is very laid back and the restaurant itself is quite small so I definitely recommend making a reservation. I live on the south shore and would make the trip any day of the week for this food.

Fried calamari and lobster ravioli were good. Companion liked frutti di mare. Truffle fries were ok. You can bring your own wine bottle.

Ate there last night for the first time having been to the Lynn location before. The food and the staff were wonderful but unfortunately, just as at the lynn restaaurant, the noise level is astounding making it almost impossible to have a conversation without shouting. Previously the owner told us he was going to address the noise problem in Lynn with curtains and some baffles but it hasn’t happened in Winthrop. I haven’t been back to Lynn.

Your Classic Nana’s Kitchen! So between eating here for the first time, and finishing this Unilocal review, I went back to the restaurant. This is the kind of place you can go to every week, and it not get old. That’s due largely to the kitchen’s flexibility. EVERYTHING is made to order. From my two experiences, here are my recommendations: 1) BYO because you can, and that’s awesome. 2) Get an App. i) I had the zucchini blossoms– a seasonal Italian delicacy, you rarely see on menus. Lightly battered and fried, stuffed with mozzarella, and served with the lemon caper sauce… they’re like cheese stuffed pockets of Italy. ii) I had the eggplant and mozzarella. It matches the menu description to a T. As with everything this place serves up, it was excellent. I felt like I was playing a game of peek-a-boo with the ricotta, and it would make its presence known, at just the right times. iii) I had the prosciutto wrapped figs with the balsamic honey glaze. I don’t really have the words for this one. I subbed fresh mozzarella in for the goat cheese because goat cheese is gross, and the mozz is unreal. The prosciutto is such high quality, that honestly think I had a relationship with the pig. The combination of ham, black mission fig, mozzarella, honey, balsamic, and a strawberry, was altogether spiritual and overwhelming. I might be dead, and this dish might be heaven. 3) Whatever you get for a main dish, and you can’t really go wrong, make sure someone at your table gets something fra diavalo. When my waitress brought my first Chicken Braciolettini fra diavalo, she said, «I can smell the Marsala». I thought she was crazy, as my dinner partner got chicken Margarita(don’t let the name fool you, this isn’t marinara with fresh mozzerella, but a delicately battered breast, with the lemon caper sauce – unreal) and I got fra diavalo – re: no one got Marsala. But she was right, embedded in my Fra Diavalo sauce, was a Marsala wine, reduced with EVOO and Garlic. Then its topped off with spicy marinara. This sauce is magic. It’s sweet, it’s fresh, it’s garlicky, and at the very end, its hot. Not too hot, but its hot. I may or may not have lifted my plate to drink the stuff. And I’m not sorry. All of my food, both times, came out quickly, came out steaming, came out exactly how we ordered it, AND with a smile on our servers face. This place is a gem. The atmosphere is fun, and on the beach, the BYO business is a blast, as you can bring your personal favorite wines/beers. The wait staff– shout outs to my girls Stephanie and Annie(two visits and I feel like a regular)– are amazing! Everyone feels like family at this place, and the food tastes like home. Amen.

During dinner, my husband(100% Italian) looks up at me, looks at the chef and said«that kid can cook». Staff was great, it definitely looks like kinda shite from outside, so without a friend recommending it, not even sure if I would know there was a restaurant there. The food is what shines here though, and isn’t that what you go out to eat for? To eat delicious food you wouldn’t make yourself, or in my case… couldn’t. Lemme tell you what we got. The bread. Do they make the bread? Who the hell makes this bread? It was so good. So good. Eat the bread. I don’t always, well rarely eat the bread, but man. Delish. Soft inside, crunchy out. For food, husband just got salad, and I split the wrapped figs that everyone here recommended. Were very good. For food, my son got what he always gets, linguine with butter… so. moving on. My daughter got the ravioli with meatball. She did share a bite of the meatball with me and it was very delicious and velvety. Nom Nom. My husband got the pork chops, I wasn’t a fan, but only because I don’t like peppers. You need to love peppers to like this dish. The meat was cooked to perfection though. I had the veal parm. Very tender and yummy. Sauce was great, too much cheese and wasn’t really melted, but overlooked that with how good everything else was. Check it out even if out of the way!

Café Rosetti’s is our favorite restaurant in Winthrop and it is worth a visit even if you don’t leave here. Located across the street from the beach, it is a little hole in the wall with BYOB — so don’t expect a white glove experience but that only adds to its considerable charms. The food is excellent and the service is fast, attentive and friendly. I usually get the chicken romano — velvety chicken in a scrumptious tomato cream sauce — while my fiancé typically gets their thick, succulent pork chop. They make fabulous, tasty pizza that has the most delicious crust too. The owners and staff here are always so nice and welcoming. And their catering is sublime. They catered an event at my home and the food was cooked perfectly.

This review is based on the food we ordered. We love this restaurant, but the food we had this time were just not our thing. The pasta dish with olives, sea salt and archives– there were tons of olives on top of the tomato sauce. The whole pasta smells like olives. I don’t know why I ordered this dish in the first place… We also had the tri-colored tortellini in a creamy Alfredo sauce. We love the creamy sauce! Won’t go wrong if you like tortellini. Next time we will order the basic pasta with tomato sauce. I came here before and had some amazing food(the mussels appetizer was so good). So My suggestion would be to pick a dish that you feel comfortable with.
