so loud. so many kids. terrible food. no healthy options.

The pancakes here are one of a kind! Every trip to the Dells consists of at least one breakfast here… depends on the length of our visit. We have brought family and friends here and always recommend it to others. The pancake and waffle portions are very generous. We always take a good amount of leftovers with us. My favorite pancakes are the banana nut pancakes and the pumpkin pancakes… no syrup needed. I have yet to find a match for pancakes this amazing. The only unfortunate thing about this place is it is a seasonal restaurant… understandable though. There is usually a waiting time and parking can be difficult… but it is definitely worth it!

Considering you’re in a touristy area, this is one of the better breakfast places around. Yes, the inside of the place is dated and not the cleanest, but the food always seems to be consistent. No it’s not fine dining, but if you’re hungry and want something to fill you up, this place can do that. Just be warned, they charge $ 2.50 to share a plate.

This was one of my favorite breakfast places in the Wis Dell until my last visit. They were always busy and has a fun shopping area to buy toys and candy. Now it is pretty empty with a few toys left behind. There were open tables and It took our food about forty minutes to be served. I was majorly disappointed when I had to pick out the canned mushrooms that were folded into my omelet like a crêpe. The green peppers were not cooked and hash browns were extra. The other omelet at our table was of poor quality as well. The pancakes and French toast were ok. We’ve had better. The quality of food is not worth the quantity paid. It’s hard to mess up breakfast and this restaurant has destroyed it. I am a breakfast lover going out weekly for this meal. I will never return to this restaurant. It was hard for me to even give one star.

Overpriced. Service was mediocre and food was Denny’s quality at 1.5x the price. Service was pretty good. But probably won’t return here anytime soon and I am fairly local

This place is an insult to humanity. Don’t go here, and keep your children away. Everything is filthy. If they can’t keep something as trivial as the bathroom clean, imagine the kitchen. The table was filthy. The plates that came out to us were filthy. The coffee cups were. FILTHY. As in obviously unwashed. The syrup bottles were communal and disgusting. Everyone who comes in this place is touching them. Let me tell you how you are received; they tell you it’s a 10 minute wait — ¼ of the restaurant is empty… In the waiting area are shabby bins of stuffed animals. All the families that walk in, the kids go to the bins. This establishment is praying on the impulse pressure of children on their fatigued parents. There’s a small sign saying no refunds. It was terrible to witness all these parents arguing with their children they don’t need another stuffed animal, prying them out of their hands, these toys touched by every snotty child that walks in. We only got as far as ordering the coffee. My wife was busy being disgusted by the bathroom when their stink coffee showed up. Instant coffee. Burnt. I was on the far side of the table and I was revolted. We just left for our own dignity. The place just screams«Fuck you tourist cattle, here’s your shit.»

Wait time was long, but to be expected on a Sunday morning. From the time we ordered until the food came was about 40 minutes, a long time to wait when hungry. I had read the coffee was terrible, so I just ordered water(see Mr. Pancake, you do lose money to bad reviews. Or you could just fix the coffee). My wife’s expensive orange juice was straight out of a grocery store carton. The kids had milk and no complaints. My blueberry pancakes were pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I would have ordered an omelette, but was warned off by other reviews. I had a side egg over easy, which was fine. Otherwise, the food was average. The waitress didn’t attend our table for almost half an hour after we ordered, though she was hustling around. She just needed to look around the restaurant before heading back to the kitchen and we could have got her attention. But the main reason I won’t go back is the«No Concealed Weapons» sign on the door, which tells me the owner is either an anti-gun zealot or an idiot(for not knowing that all mass shootings happen in such«gun-free» zones).

Visited Mr Pancake on Monday, August 17, 2015. Arrived at the restaurant at approximately 8:00 am. We were seated right away. Service was very good. Asked the waiter if we could have separate checks but they do not do that. He said it will be taken care of at the register when paying. For the most part the food was good except for the so called scrambled eggs. They were not fluffy but very dry which made them hard to eat. Now to checkout. The two women were very rude and did not know what they were doing regarding separating the checks. Would not bring a manager when requested. Told other customers it was taking long because these customers wanted separate checks and that is why they don’t do them. Guess they should tell the wait staff not to tell customers it will be done at the register. The front desk employees did not make a good impression. Only 2 stars because of the rude front desk employees.

Packed every morning, Mr. Pancake is a decent pancake restaurant. It’s on the expensive side so be prepared to shell out for for your flap jacks. The coffee is terrible and the orange juice is 99% sugar. Everything comes with pancakes as the side. The cakes are good and huge.

We went here on our last vacation to the Dells because who can’t pass up a popular breakfast joint. This place is huge, so they were easily able to seat our group of 9 after waiting for only a few minutes. We had about 3 cars between us though, so this was very much an issue. The parking situation at Mr. Pancake is a tricky one, so if possible take one car. As my family often does for breakfast, we ordered several dishes with the intention of sharing them. This way we can taste lots of menu items without having to feel too gluttonous. I ordered some sort of veggie omelette, but also tried some of the pancakes and french toast. The omelette had raw chopped up veggies on top, which I found to be very strange and unappetizing. The french toast was was plain white bread that was just barely dipped in batter and lightly grilled. The pancakes were good, but I expected a little more given that ‘Mr. Pancake’ himself made them. My advice to anyone visiting the Dells for the first time is to start with Paul Bunyan’s. If they’re too crowded, or you really want to try someplace new for breakfast, then try Mr. Pancake.

If the cheap food at apocalyptic, inflated prices weren’t bad enough. The $ 60 filthy, used stuffed animals in the make shift lobby, sealed the deal for me! A tourist trap disgrace!

I was told this restaurant was good. But every time I went to the dells there was no parking and it always seemed too full. So this time although the parking area was packed someone was leaving and we scored a parking right in front of the door!!! The place was super packed with people waiting to be seated. Just a huge crowd standing around. I’ve never seen so many people waiting to be seated. My husband immidiately wanted to run out and mentioned it was probably a 2 hour wait. We asked and we were told 25 minutes. We agreed to wait 25 min. We didn’t think it was possible but yes we were seated 25 min exactly. They were calling numbers and we’re very organized doing so. The waitress was friendly and attentive. No wonder they moved fast the place was pretty spacious. I could tell the waitresses were used to it being busy. Everyone loved their meals. I had the Mexican omelet, that was very good. Everyone else had different pancake meals and they were happy and loved it. Only thing they put my husband’s fried eggs on the same plate with his pancakes, but got us an extra plate soon as we asked. They had different types of syrup on the table like honey syrup, strawberry syrup, regular and others. The food also came out super fast considering how busy they were. Definitely check it out. My 10 year old and 8 year old loved their food!!!

Excellent food, was seated right away, and service was great!!! The only issue is that it was really, really hot. It was very crowded in there which may explain the fact that it was so hot.

Nice atmosphere and the service was ok. My mother ordered the ham steak and eggs, she had a hard time eating the eggs because they tasted funny, got half way through her eggs and she found that the middle of the eggs were green. There reasoning for the moldy green eggs was that it came from the spatula. BS. They refused to take the meal off the bill. Instead they gave us three dollars off. As we got back to our hotel room. We ran into our neighbors who were there at the same time. Just so happened that her eggs were moldy green as well and they refused to take it off the bill. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Who knows who will get sick. I had to leave a comment on the comment board at the hotel so people would be aware of the eggs.

Only good for pancakes. Coffee & the rest of the food was ok. Not worth coming back. Oh yea, if you share a plate it’s a $ 2.50 charge

A lot of what you might think about this restaurant is based on what you order, at least in our visit. One son got peanut butter pancakes, which were awesome. I got bacon pancakes, which were meh. Just a strip of bacon in a pancake, so everywhere else the pancake just tasted like plain pancake(while the PB one had the peanut butter all throughout). We also had a meh waiter. Not very attentive, had to be reminded a couple times to bring things(like maple syrup and napkins). Then disappeared for a while when we finished eating. Turned out he was in the other part of the restaurant eating HIS lunch. Not smart.

So, my husband and kids stopped in here yesterday(a Thursday morning) and arrived at around 8:45am. Restaurant was pretty quiet at that time, and they were seated and served rather quickly. Food was good but prices were high for a family restaurant as the pancake orders didn’t come with any sides(had to order bacon, toast, etc. separately for an additional fee. Further, the portion sizes were just too substantial… Would have appreciated a smaller portion option(I wouldn’t have been able to finish that either). But here is what really gets me… We stopped in again this morning because my husband and kids were happy with their experience yesterday. Got in around 9:45am… Took over 40 minutes to get our food. It took so long that we had to rush to eat to make it to our planned activity for the morning… We ate in 5 minutes and of course, because we rushed, everyone is already hungry again(nice conundrum, huh?). After waiting about 30 minutes, we asked the server for an update and she said the food would be out in about«a minute» but it took an additional 10. Just very disappointing…

I don’t understand why this place doesn’t have 5 stars. Everyone’s orders were great. I got jealous stares from everyone in the dining room when my banana hot fudge waffle came out – a waffle covered in bananas and fudge and topped with a rounded mound of vanilla ice cream and then artfully covered with whipped cream and walnut sprinkles. Since the item description was pretty scant, it caught me off guard. My husband got the strawberry pancakes and said his were also delightful. He was worried that it wouldn’t fill him up, but he definitely ate his words after(pardon my pun). They have plenty of the classics, but also plenty different menu items you probably haven’t seen anywhere else like blintzes and about 10 different kinds of pancakes that were made of non-traditional pancake mixes. Best of all were the prices. My mound of a waffle was under $ 9. Granted, it didn’t come with a side, but still. Not bad. The place is kind of kitschy, but it’s the Dells. What isnt?

Mr. Pancake is only good for pancakes. Yes, you would think I would pick that up by its name but I visited last week with a raging hangover and wanted something healthy-ish. The only whole wheat item I saw was whole wheat French toast. While it looked beautiful with bananas, pecans and powdered sugar, it was dry as chicagoans’ humor. I was starving and ate one of the breads but I left the rest. On previous visits, I’ve had chocolate chip pancakes and they are PHENOM. Even the side of pancakes that come with the skillets blows the French toast out of the water. I’ve also had the mexican skillet before, which is pretty bland and dry but decent. 0 seasing but I have to remember their clientele(Wisconsin dells people) would flip if it were anything other than bland. Sorry, I’m a spoiled Chicagoan! The other saving grace of Mr. P is service. Anytime you visit, they are mega prompt to seat you, take your orders and bring food out. I’ve always had super sweet servers that deserve all the tips in the world. Bland eggs and French aside, it’s a good, quick option(for pancakes exclusively) if you’re staying at the resorts or water parks. 3.5

I must say that I was very disappointed by Mr. Pancake. The prices were extremely high and the food was simple at best. Most everything seemed to be straight from the Sysco can without any real preparation to it. I had a Mexican omelette which wasn’t really and omelette, rather an egg pouch with ingredients inside. Overall the flavor was good, just had a surprising presentation. Also it was a smaller omelette with two full pancakes on the side. Again, not really a problem just outside what I was expecting. Overall the food tasted pretty good but lacked any flare or pizazz. Top it off with some incredibly high prices and we’ll opt for another establishment(like BJ’s just down the street) in the future.
