Went here on a Friday night with 3 others and I was not impressed. Took 5 mins to get water. The place was not busy. I had the fish fry and it was OK not great but OK. Got the mashed potatoes and they were good. My son got the steak med and was chared over well. Wife had the 6oz lobster and she said she liked it as the market price on a 12oz was $ 60 what are we in Maine or something. Been coming to the Dells for 45 years and this is the first time going there.

Had dinner there Saturday evening. W had a group of 9 and sat onside. Probably a bad choice since they had a «musician» blaring a harmonica. The service was slow. My food was good the ribs were smoked nicely. Some had steaks over cooked but were to hungry to wait again to have it fixed. The biggest disappointment came trying to get our checks. I had to chase the server Kennedy down after waiting 15 minutes. Lots of excuses but all I really wanted was our checks. Next time if we want to site outside we will avoid the live music night.

Ate here last night with my family of seven. I would not go back nor recommend it to anyone unless they hired new servers and taught them some etiquette and then dumped the cook for someone that didn’t cook like it was 1970. We love themes… nerd family… but the décor just felt old. Tired. Appetizers were rubber bands coated in heavy greasy breading tossed on a plate with some type of space in a plastic cup. Well, the truffle oil fries were decent. Soup, clam chowder, was good. Salad was just a dense pile of spinach wit one piece of onion and a side cup of dressing. Caesar salad was ok. Entrees were okay at best. Ordered the special steak and twin lobster tails for two. Cooked well, just lacking any flavor or seasoning. Shrimp pasta, decent. Chicken parm… below average. Beef medallions with crab, pile of mush. Oh, if you are going to charge for refills on kiddie cocktails it is good practice to say so. All in all, we had a much much much better meal across the street at Sprechters for about a third the price. The waitress had our table and one other the entire night but was only seen 4 times before the bill was presented, and had to be found for service. Was it really too much to fill water glasses rather than plunking down a carafe? Could you perhaps ask if the apps were being enjoyed? Oh, and maybe your other waiter friends could be schooled to not run or carry on conversations from room to room? For $ 300(18% tip required) I wold expect more. Long live the supper clubs… but it is time to put this one down.

Went for a Valentine’s Day meal. Had a coupon from a local Dells magazine. Reviews looked good. Oysters were great however rest of the meal just so so. Asked for veggies instead of potato and the waiter still brought mashed potatoes. When it came time to pay, they didn’t put our coupon on it. Then when the bill came back a second time it was more than it was before the coupon. They over charged us on sodas(the second time). Sent it back a third time. Décor was outdated. Very cold here also. Must be time of year.

Interesting to read the reviews whining about the décor. It’s the DELLS, not downtown Chicago. The décor is in keeping with pretty much every other supper club in the areas. You should expect it to be what it is and if you can’t handle it you shouldn’t even bother going to the Dells. seriously. We ate there last weekend, 2nd time in January actually. Had calamari app which was good, not great, but good. Both her and my entrée’s were good, nicely prepared. Server(Linda) was friendly and knowledgable and very helpful throughout the meal. Wine list is decent and sports a couple french wines actually. Pre-dinner martini’s were a very generous pour. Oh, my entrée was the ribs. I normally eat about a 3rd of what is served to me. I ate all the ribs. They are that good. So yeah, it is dated and Dellzy but that is part of its charm in my view. I hope they don’t change anything. I like it just the way it is.

Excellent service and good food quality for our party of 13 celebrating a family Christmas. Had reservations at the start of service. We will definitely come back when driving past the Wisconsin Dells or staying in the area.

Décor is from the 60’s. Carpet is a no no in restaurants. It’s a playground for bacteria. Fake flowers are nasty and should have left after the 60s. Chairs should match. Chairs look like they belong in a Greek family breakfast restaurant. The 1970s chipped mirrors on the wall need to go. I could go to a garage sale or resale shop and find nicer stuff to hang. Tacky curtains hung between tables. Steaks were just mediocre at best. I’ve never had leftovers from a filet mignon and I left almost half. Lacked severe flavor and was chewy. The salad had nasty wilted lettuce. Should have taken a clue that the place was dead at 6PM and Del Bar was packed. Can’t complain about the service our server was good. Open for business 55 years it’s time to change the dated restaurant if you want to survive another year. Wisconsin Dells is a breeding ground for repeat customers. Won’t be coming back.

Great food, great service. I had the walleye pike, it was delicious. My bartender/waitress was nice and checked in several times. I round go back again for sure.

This place is scary. While you’re waiting for your mediocre meal to arrive, you can play the«Let’s Guess the Last Time they Dusted» game with your party. Probably something like 1982 is the correct answer! Some may find the restrooms to be interesting and kitschy with the dark wallpaper and gothic-style chained pendant lighting. For me, I thought the restroom looked like it should be in a horror movie. As far as the food and service: food mediocre, service quite poor. I ordered the salmon special. I thought it had the typical frozen salmon flavor. The mashed potatoes were pretty good! Others at my table seemed unimpressed with their steak dishes. A dinner on a slow night at this restaurant ended up being three hours for us. Not sure why the incredibly long lag in drinks, food and service?

I felt like the spinach artichoke dip and Bruschetta was bland but the rib eye steak and garlic mash potatoes was on point. I’d definitely go back next time we’re in the Dells.

For a place that’s been in business 55 years, you would think they would have the summertime, Wisconsin Dells dinner service down. That there was no wait for a table of 9 should’ve been the first warning sign that they don’t. The rancid olive oil, the under-cooked burger, the flavorless pasta, the previously-frozen everything, the almost invisible service, and the unfathomable hour long wait for food rounded it out. They did take the one dish we actually complained about off the bill, but we weren’t thrilled to find the automatic, large-party gratuity added on. Normally, I’d hope a place could work on improving itself, but if this place hasn’t figured it out in 55 years, then it might be time to let the Embers go out.

From the reviews i thought this place was going to be a home run. I was a run home. The service was okay. He forgot my husbands salad order. Was just not attentive. The food was bad. End of story. The ribs tasted like they came from the frozen food isle at the grocery store. The ribeye had so much butter on it the flavor of the steak was ruined. The potato was not done.

We were looking for something local to the area and to share some appetizers. Based on the reviews we had high hopes. We were seated right away. We ordered the fried cheese curds, the spinach artichoke dip, bruschetta, and oysters rockefeller. The cheese curds were clearly from a frozen bag. This was disappointing since being from out of state, I had high hopes for a restaurant in Wisconsin. The spinach artichoke dip was chunky and not in a good way. My friend ate an entire clove of garlic with his first bite. The pita was good. The bread was soggy for the bruschetta and the parmesan was shredded and stale. The tomatoes didn’t seem fresh. The oysters were cooked fine except the cheese was over baked. This was a disappointment.

They didn’t take the coupon that I got it from Unilocal. They said they didn’t have a deal with Unilocal. That means neither Unilocal made this up or this restaurant made it up.

Great experience here, somewhat unique in the«Tourist Hell» that is the Wisconsin Dells restaurant scene for the most part. I had the chicken/rib combo that was on special(early bird) that night, everything was very much to my liking(ribs that fall-off the bone, tender half chicken). Sides were great and service was excellent, we sat on the patio and were well taken care of. When the bill came, I noted that we had been charged full price for the two early-bird specials we ordered. When I pointed this out to our server, she made some kind of story like«oh, unless you specify that you want the special when ordering…» blah blah blah. This concerned me a bit, but my response to her was«Go fix this». Which, happily, she complied. So a bit of buyer beware, but this is a great spot for a family night out in the Dells.

We had a party of 5, made a reservation for a Wednesday evening at 7, showed up at 6:30 and were promptly seated. We ordered the cheese curds appetizer. It was good but the presentation was lousy. It came out on a plastic/melamine red plate with a clear plastic side cup of honey mustard dipping sauce. This is not what I expected from a restaurant with $ 20-$ 40 meals. The ribs were very good, okay burger, okay fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, okay wedge salad and the scallops were good but a little pricey considering the sauce(soup) they are served in was considered the side or were the potato straws on top the side? I didn’t find anything special about this place and expected more.

I’ve always wanted to try this place out. I am so glad that I did! We had our rehearsal dinner here with a party of around 25 people. We had them customize a menu that would fit everyone. I enjoyed the Beer Battered Fish with these potatoes that had Swiss Cheese on them. Everything was delicious including the tartar sauce. I’ve uploaded a picture, it’s the only one with the fish dinner. It’s as good as it looks. We had two servers for our party. The one who took care of us was Natalia from Macedonia. She did a fantastic job and she knew how to get everyones attention. They had plenty of beers to choose from. I enjoyed some New Glarus«Spotted Cow» as well as some Capital Brewery«Wisconsin Amber.» Both were served nice and chilled. Everyone loved this place and a friend of mine whom resides in the Dells ranks it as one of the top 4 restaurants. With the other 3 being Kaminski Brothers Chophouse, Fields at the Wilderness, and the Del Bar. All in all you can’t go wrong at the«House of Embers.»
