The store has monumental potential, but they are not doing enough promotion and the website is «meh» and not actively updating customers or providing any useful information(like the fact that they have been closed the last week or so or when they planned to re-open). They are trying to do too much too soon in my opinion. The owner is what is really going to kill their business. he needs to hire good staff and go golfing or something. He is rude and off-putting and is losing business by interacting with customers. They carry a great variety of items and the prices are comparable with Better Health Mart but with WAYMORE variety! I hope they make it…

We are happy to find a market that carries organic produce and packaged products. As some of the other reviewers noted, the prices are not bargain basement; however, I feel that Al is competitive with other natural/organic markets like Better Health.

Have visited 2 times for lunch and had a chance to walk around the store. Store doesn’t seem ready to be open yet including the sub /hot food station. The subs were ok but only 1 type of chips were available. Food tasted good but was with some picky eaters and not all of the advertised lunch options were available at lunch time which led to headaches. Employees were still stocking shelves and no beer yet. No scales where nuts and things are but you pay by weight? Maybe it’ll be OK and the subs were pretty good but overall they should close temporarily until the store is ready for the public. Sub + chips + drink costs about $ 10.

I’ve visited this store about 3 or 4 before making this review, because I was trying to give them a chance but after my last visit I have come to the conclusion that I will not return to this store anymore. The produce here is of terrible quality and over priced. Everything in the store is overpriced, but I was lucky enough to shop here while they were having their 50% off sale, so I stocked up on a few things. I was once able to find Applegate’s Turkey Bacon here, but they no longer carry it. When I asked a cashier about getting some more in, she said that if its not selling the owner wasn’t going to purchasing it anymore. Well he may as well close up shop because not much is being sold here and they have quite a few of empty shelves.

I have been popping in over the past four weeks watching the stock increase and new products coming in because I work close by. I am surprised by some of negative remarks because I for one– love to see a resurgence of mom and pop supermarkets– independent grocers are a dying breed — and two — I felt the store needed a few weeks to get settled before a judgement could be made. The hot food bar is quite good– I tried the chili one day and spicy taco soup another. Delish. They informed me that the dishes are made with the same high quality, piedmontes meat that they sell at the counter. Very lean– very tasty. I feel that $ 5 for a bowl of chili that I know is made with lean fresh ingredients is worth every penny compared to the mystery Coney Island chili for $ 1.50 less… but that’s just me… I like what they’ve done so far and I’ll be back.

Finally good quality MEAT! I thought this type of quality was only in steakhouses and 4⁄5 star restaurants. This place is awesome, I cant wait for grilling season. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!!!

Love this little market. It’s got a ton of health foods which can be really hard to find. The only drawbacks are the smell in the building(unpleasant but not awful) and that not everything is priced out yet.

Stopped in Super Bowl Sunday because I live in the area and have been dreaming of a place like Papa Joes and Westborn in my area. Not sure if it is because they are new, but they did not win me over. The produce looked rather old. Old as in the stuff you see tossed away at Eastern Market on a late Saturday afternoon. Prices are also way out of line. The poultry, meat, and fish looked vile. I saw salmon in the counter with silver spots. Again, also insanely overpriced. Beer and wine section was not yet stocked. Its sad that I have no better choice than to go to an also overrated Hillers. I Amy give another chance, but let’s put it this way. This review could have been a lot worse but I want to give the benefit of the doubt.

Al’s isn’t fully up and running yet but it did have a nice variety of organic and conventionally grown produce. We liked the prices on many of the packaged items including beans, personal care products and dairy. They are bringing in wine and beer soon and it also looks like they’ll have delivery for pizza and other cooked meats. It’ll be interesting to see how this develops. Right now they’re offering 20% off purchases. If you have a gluten issue, this is definitely the place to go!
